Macadamia nuts

I could look this up, but people here are so knowledgeable I thought I'd just ask here. Are macadamia nuts one of the nuts that are good for you? I LOVE them, such a soft almost buttery taste, so I'm sure they are terrible for you!! Anyone have any info?

Thanks in advance!
Teresa

I don't believe any nuts are bad for you, the only thing I remember about them is they are higher in fat than other nuts. I love pistachios and I know they are good for me but I really have to watch myself because of the fat and the calories.

There was a good article about which nuts are best in the Self magazine that Cathe was featured in (Dec. issue I think), Macadamia nuts were in the worst category (high in calories and saturated fat), cashews (which I love), and Brazil nuts were in the bad category as well. Almonds were considered the best, along with pistachios and a few others that I can't think of.

Walnuts are the best for omega-3 fats. Brazil nuts have the most selenium of any food. One nut is 100 mg, I think. Almonds are the best, nutritionally, I agree. What about pecans? I know everyone wants to know what MY favorites are, so I'll end the suspense. I love almonds, walnuts, pecans and Brazil nuts. I am neutral about pistachios. I don't like cashews (too sickly sweet and a mealy texture) or macadamias much. But the worst are hazel nuts. Funny taste. So, all you people who want to buy me presents out there, please note the preferences.

And don't forget pumpkin and sunflower seeds for healthy, although they aren't nuts. Peanuts and sesame also good.

In any case, just eat a variety, and watch your portion sizes. Also, they are much much healthier raw than roasted.
