Low Impact

Let me just say, I love Cathe's workouts. That said, my right knee has been giving me some trouble and I need to tone down the impact of my workouts. Who else would you recommend that might come close (I know, I know...no one comes close :) ...you know what I mean) to Cathe's intensity but have low impact?

TIA

I love kickboxing, because it is high intensity, but low impact (at least it can be, and workouts like Powerstrike are).

It's hard to find intense, low-impact workouts. Charlene Prickett is one who fits in that category, but she is very chatty and gets on some people's nerves. I've never really gotten into her at all. She increases intensity by doing a lot of full=range-of motion moves rather than high-impact moves.

Hi Tia,

I also suffer with pain in my right knee, in fact i'm probably facing arthroscopic surgery sometime next week or so. I have bad knee arthritis and even though I workout with Cathe among others the impact of these workouts are not the culprit, per say. My doctor recommends that I continue to workout, modifying where needed, and of course I can return fully once I have healed. I love kickboxing and form is key when doing this type of workout. I already us modification with my workouts because of my back. I received the best advice on this forum. Our forum is full of well educated people and I'm sure that someone will give us the correct answer.

Take care and keep us posted of your progress.

Try Gin Miller's Aerostep workout. That's the only step workout I love doing aside from Cathe's step routines. The movements are a bit dancy, and you need a bit more room when you do it. The choreography is simpler than Cathe's but it still took me about three tries to get it. What I don't like about it though is that Reebok has too many annoying visual effects in its effort to put out a cool, "artsy" product, that it takes away from the workout. You may also consider lowering your step height. Good luck!
