Low Carbers & Friends - September 2010

How'd I miss some of those posts?

Good for you Traci! It is fun having other people share in the misery. That is one of the reasons I like the run with the girls. At least someone else is suffering like me, well, they are much better runners than me, so I'm the lagger.

Lita - have a great little vacation and ignore the lists!

Uh huh.... That's pretty good coming from you, Rhea :p! You are far more driven these days than I am ;). When ya hit the big 5-0 and ya start to mellow a bit  :D!

BTW - Yes, my list is made and waiting for me ....

Lita, have a nice vacation!

I get to work from home all next week, so that is good! Fall classes start for me on Thur, the 23rd. I am kind of dreading it and kind of interested all at the same time. Slow and steady wins the race, so I'm just taking this journey one day at a time, not focusing on how long it will take. I'm only taking one class again, I can do it. DH is also taking a class. We are both heading off to campus the same time, seems weird!!!

Tracy, sounds like a good group you're in. I would be too intimidated with high level exercisers.

Rhea, I also get more stuff from grocery stores while traveling for health reasons too. I've even packed oatmeal in a little baggie and flown with it. Then I heat water in the room and pour it in a cup. I will pick up some fruit at the grocery. There are very creative ways to eat healthy on the road, I think the biggest thing is to think outside the box!

Starting on week 3 of S&H. I like it!

Hi babes! What class will you be taking Melinda? I think going slow is the way to go. What's the rush? I think it's cool that both you and DH are going to school! My DH and I thought about it years ago but didn't find it was going to take us where we would want to go with it so we didn't do it. Enjoy working at home this week!

Rhea, what is the status on your new house? DH wants to get an outbuilding done first and it's pretty much ready to go except we're getting November downpours in Septemer! It's always something! Delays, delays....

I did Circuit Blast this a.m., I made myself actually. :) I haven't been pushing myself much lately and it's time I dd. It went well but I paused it when I needed to.

Bootcamp tomorrow! I hope the scale will be kind!

Tracy - the house is being built! Foundation has been dug, footings poured and block work started. I think they were trying to get the block work done, inspected and filled by today. Next would be rough plumbing and floor joists and subfloor. Whoo hoo. I sure hope it cranks up a notch, we are getting awful close to snow season.

Hi everyone,

Finished up the 3rd week of S&H, not sure what I will do today.

Tracy, I am taking a nursing assistant class this quarter. It is a prerequisite. I have one more class and I'll be ready to go after that. Then I just have to wait for next August 2011 to apply for nursing school. If I get accepted, then it begins March 2012.

That is so great Melinda! The time will fly by and you will be all done with school. Seems like I just graduated yesterday, but it was almost 20 years ago! OMG, that is a long time ago. Is it time for me to retire yet?

That is great Melinda! The time is going to fly by for you. You will be done in no time. It seems like I just graduated yesterday and it is almost 20 years! Wow, 20....can I retire yet?

Hi babes! Rhea, that is AWESOME about your house! Yippee!!! I'm so happy for you! :D I really have nothing to report on this end! I was at one of DH's brother's house yesterday and walked outside onto the back porch and his other brother said encouragingly, "You'll have your house someday." I thought it was really sweet. But I wasn't upset, I was warm and wanted some fresh air!

Wow Melinda, I'm really happy for you too! Only 2 more classes! I bet I'd have to take a ton to do anything new! I'm SURE you will get accepted to nursing school and the time will fly just like Rhea said. :)

And it's been 20 years since I was in school too Rhea--yikes!

Bootcamp has been great! My running stamina has improved which surprised me, and I'm willing to push myself further. Nothing like a kick in the pants to get me off my booty! Today I challenged myself an dI hope there are no negative ramifications tomorrow! :p I had a short workday today so I Did the GS Upper Body premixes, Cathe's Yoga Abs, then did 15 flights of 90 stairs with the meetup group. I'm surprised I'm not dead!

It's been horribly humid here lately, walking at lunch and the stair climbing today were pretty miserable. Blech!

Have a great workout week! I hope to be able to check in more this week.

thanks Rhea and Tracy. I can't believe that it was May when I first went to the college to check on this thing, so it is true that time will fly by. There were people talking about taking that chem class this quarter and I took it summer. I'm sure glad that is over. That's what I think when I hear them!

I have to do a project and talk about a disease. I'm so focused on wellness, this is not very exciting. But I do think I came up with something and that is osteoporosis. So I'm going to see if that is ok. I can tie in all kinds of info about living with it that is more on the wellness side. I'm probably one of the few that is not thinking like the other students. I want to use this education to get more opportunity for wellness. Like the client I am screening today has a wellness clinic that is so neat and does a lot. I'd love to work there, but they only hire RNs. This is why I am doing this. I don't want to just treat sick people, I want to help prevent illness if I can.

And, I have felt sick beginning Sunday. Starting to feel a little better, but not 100%. I just did yoga, that seemed to sound good to me.

Gotta go! Have a good week.
