Low Carbers & Friends - Sept 09

Rhea, that is great you got a win! And on a Friday, so you can relax this weekend an enjoy the victory!

OK gals, here's my idea for shortening the 70 min STS. Don't know if you all thought of this, but my idea was to just cut out one of the cycles. I think it begins in Meso 2 where you get a series of a few exercises that repeat, if you just cut out the last set, you will still do the full workout, but just reduce the number of sets. I'd guess that would cut out about 10 - 15 min from the workout and you wouldn't skip any specific exercises.

I'll join you all in some wine. DH is drinking a beer and we need to paint, this ought to be an interesting paint job, in the living room, no less! Have to get the painting done this weekend, as they are installing laminate flooring next week.

Wed was a longgggg work day. I crashed at 8:30pm. Thur I got the sweats that lasted 4 hours and my legs were shakey and I was dizzy. Slowly got better and today was feeling fine, but I am tired. So no workouts for the past 3 days. I think I'll do the last workout in Meso 1 on Sat and then just pick and choose workouts for next week.

Today I did PUB wts only. Chest and Shoulders I had to stay at my medium wt for the 8 reps at the top of the pyramid. felt my collar bone was going to pop out of place on the pec flies so I didn't go over 8 lb dumb bells for chest. Then BF had lunch waiting for me so I didn't add on anything else. It was so cold in there my hands hurt holding the wts. BF loaned me his work gloves to make my poor little hands more comfortable. He said "Your too hard core." I said that is a Cathe series.
Had planned on IMax 1 last night but ended up going to dinner with some friends and was way too full when I got home and I was just wiped out from the long week. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow if its warm enough in that room.
 
And boy am I relaxing......wine, chocolate....workouts....

I plugged in Cardio and Weights, wow, I needed that, even the cardio queen had to slow down and pause a bit today. I guess I need to up my cardio since I had to actually pause today. Whew, how embarrassing:eek: oh well, I don't know what i'll do tomorrow. I might be doing a bit of cooking since I'm feeling guilty about all the pears and apples I have. It is so hard to just ignore all the bounty.

That's a great idea :D!!!! My only thought, since I can't lift my maximum w/o a spotter (hurt myself too many times last time to go that route again :rolleyes: ), was to lift lighter and shorten the rests.

So yesterday I did Christi Taylor's totally hot cardio and then added on YBB's Hip Hop abs. Burned great calories for that one.

I was a bit tired today, so I did an oldie...Firm, Body Sculpt Blaster.

It is raining, raining, raining here. So awesome! We need the rain.

Hi babes! Reese, I had to laugh when you said you were going to spare BF your cello playing while he was sleeping! :D I'm glad you took the day off after working so much! Now I hope you can get a little heater for your workout room, brrrr! You are welcome to jump into STS with us whenever you can if you'd like!

Melinda, how does your living room look? I love making changes to make a room look brand new. Do you know why you sweated and felt bad for 4 hours? That does not sound good girl!

I celebrated this weekend and I didn't even know I had a good reason until now! :cool: I'm glad you celebrated too!

Lita, I'm happy we are all going to do STS together! I think it's important that we all do what we need to do for ourselves because I definitely modify where needed! And I promise not to tell Cathe, especially when I already have to keep my cardio a secret from her! :rolleyes:

Muscle Max yesterday, and I overdid it it! "Sure, I can work with the same amount of weight as Cathe!" HA! I hurt! Today I did sections 1-5 of IMAX 3. I will NEVER do the whole thing together, the cardio makes me pause after almost each blast 'case my HR gets so blasted high. AND, because I can use this as an excuse, low thyroid function prefers a rest after hard cardio before moving on, yippee!

Lita, I do believe the first week off after meso 1 is the last week of the year. I figure if I get messed up during Christmas week, I can make it up during the week off if necessary!

Sections 6-10 of I3 today. Glad that baby's done! They're trying to get us to do some walking for our health at work this month and thought I'd do it even though I'm not doing anything extra. But if I do 30 minutes of tough cardio, can I count it as 60 minutes of walking? :p

Anyone going to buy any Cathe workouts by downloading them? I don't think I'm gonna. I've got everything on dvd now and I'm good with that!
 
Tracy - No, I'm not going to :). I want to get a couple more dvd workouts that are more important to me than a fancy computer gizmo that I don't even understand ;).

Today and yesterday are rest days for me...too much stuff to get done before company tonight to squeeze in a workout today.

Tomorrow probably will be Cardio and Weights again. I think I want to start popping in more heavier weight workouts. I might have to break down and drag out the 4DS series and start them up for a while. If I could only find a way to keep the weights in the living room......yeah, right.

Well, have a great rest of the day everyone. Off to finish the spaghetti sauce...yummy, I just love homemade sketti sauce.
 
Yep, did Cardio and Weights yesterday. Sore today. I suppose I should do it a couple more time this week to get that muscle memory going.

Unfortunately, Rhea, it's not coming but is already here :confused:.... I was thinking of doing 4DS again too :cool:! But I make it a 5-day split since some of them are longer than the 55 minutes I seem to be limited to these days (not just time constraints, you know, but mental ones, too :p )

BTW - I did Step Heat this morning and I just gotta tell you girls ... if Cathe ever decides to give up fitness, she'd be able to have a heck of a career as a hog caller :rolleyes:....

(Sorry - couldn't resist, lol. Even my roommate said something about all the hooping and hollering going on while I had the tape in.....)
 
Hi babes! Too funny Lita! I don't have that workout of Cathe's.

Do you need some fancy gizmo to download Cathe's workouts? I haven't looked into it at all. And what other dvd workouts do you want to get?

Rhea, I love me that 4DS workout and Cathe's Cardio and Weights! Do you have to drag your weights out from one room into the living room everytime you work out? If that were the case for me, I'd be telling DH that they'd be staying until the weekend and I'd put them away then. :) My mum makes hom emadesketti sause from the tomatoes she grows. Did you do the same thing?

Pure Strength series this week. Did upper body today instead of legs. Fried myself but good!

I would if I had the tomaters! I'm stuck using the canned sauce and stewed tomaters, but the rest is all mine..italian sausage (hot), beef, bell pepper, red onion, lots of spices, mushrooms, olives...yummy.

I did Totally Hot Cardio with an add on of Hip Hop abs (I was a glutton today for the cardio!)

Oh and yes, I have to move the weights from one room to the other. I do leave my 52 lb bowflex techs dbs in the living room since they are too hard to move.
 
Rhea - Jeez, moving those bowflex things alone would be a heck of a workout :eek:!

Tracy - I have no clue about that computer download stuff. It's way too advanced for me ;). I am still hoping to get LIC one of these days. Even if I don't do circuits, it would hopefully have some low impact cardio I wouldn't have to modify too much to be able to do it :rolleyes:. And I might need to get KPC - mine won't show the menu anymore and it's a nightmare trying to get it to play.
 
No workout for me today, just a massage which apparently was enough since I feel pretty wiped.:)
 
Hi babes! Rhea, I'm glad you don't have to move one set of your equipment! I'm very lucky to have a room where I can keep my stuff and workout in. That will likely change temporarily when we get the #$*^@! house built (can you tell I'm tired of waiting? :p) because my new workout area will be the loft over the garage but that may not be done right away. So the living room will also be the household gym!

Oooh, I'm wiped out today too. Very happy the last PS workout is less than 50 minutes. Yesterday's leg work has caused me a whole lotta pain today! I blame my desk job for that 'cause I don't get up enough and move around. :rolleyes:

Lita, if your KPC is fried and you still have the sales receipt for it, Cathe.com will replace it. Anal me keeps all of my purchase receipts for that reason. I haven't done LIC for awhile but the cardio is low impact and not as challenging with the footwork like 4DS is.

As for downloading the workouts, I find it very hard to believe that you would have any trouble doing that, you're smart as a whip!

Tracy - I gotta tell ya, I never figured out what an MP3 player or Ipod was, let alone how to use them :rolleyes:. Guess I'm just not interested when life goes on without them :p....
 
Hi Everyone,

I noticed this is a thread titled September and it's almost Nov. We'll have to change it next month.

I can't remember when I was here last. I did do C & W and some other workout from that series. Can't remember. I hurt my neck from C & W ab work. I realized that I can't pick up a barbell over my shoulders any more. I am now just going to use the heavier hand weights, my shoulder can't take it.

The sweating thing I think was some sort of bug. DS was home from school all last week, I don't think it was a flu, but it was something. Anyways I konw I had something. I am feeling better now, just tired from work. My shoulder feels better now and I realize that when I am stressed and hurt myself that my pain intensifies quite a bit. Funny how i feel very relaxed this Friday evening and the pain is almost completely gone.

3 more weeks of super busy work, then things will slow down a bit.

I want to get back to more weight work, kind of been doing cardio the past few days with kick box and other step workouts. So when are you beginning STS again?

Hey Melinda - we are starting after Thanksgiving I believe. (For me that's after a Mexico trip....whopieee....)

Went to Reno yesterday for the annual prod and poke appointment. Today will probably end up being a rest day too since I just finished lunch (after 2:00 p.m.) and I don't think I'll have enough time before we have to be at dinner with the in-laws. So I'll do very aerobic house cleaning I guess. Maybe I can get it all done!:eek:
