Low Carbers & Friends - Sept 09

Tracy - You know, I think that 72 looks darned good compared to STS ;). In fact, I just can't get myself talked into doing STS again because of all those pushups  . They kill my neck/shoulders - and I just can NOT do them at Cathe tempo.

Good morning!

Well, I ended up doing Burn Intervals. I put in my preview copy of a program called "insanity" with Shaun T. But after the warning came up about it being an extreme cardio program and only do if are ready for that type of intense program, I got scared off of doing it....just not ready. Plus it friggin' warmed up again here, so in the afternoons it is about 90 outside and 70 inside. I know that sounds cool for being inside, but my body likes mid 60s, lower 60s for intense cardios. With intervals, I put on the big fan right on me and I was just right.

So what is everyone doing this weekend? I'm right back at the fruit. I need to finish up what I want to do so I can clean the darn house. No sense in cleaning...i.e., mopping the hideously dirty floor...if I'm going to drip fruit juices, flour, etc. all over them this weekend. My goal is to get it all done for the year.

No Rhea, I know just what you mean about needing cooler temps for cardio!!! 70s is definitely "must have a fan and do lower intensity stuff" weather! I am actually comfortable doing cardio when my room is in the 50s . My weekend is just going to be the usual - not nearly as much fun as yours ;)!

Hi all!

Lita, GS premixes aren't so bad, some actually make the workout more achievable. I definitely like the timesaver ones. So give them a try!

Wow, I like cool weather for the cardio, but I think I'd turn blue at 50 - 60 degrees!

OK, you may not all belive this, but Meso 1 is not so bad, including the pushups. Now, keep in mind, I do them from my knees, but they weren't nearly as bad as the first time around. And now that I've done this a few times, I'm noticing more to the workouts. What I like is this Meso only has 30 sec. between sets, so it moves more quickly. I think it was Rhea that said Meso 3 was very long! Yes, it is, with sometimes 70 sec between sets. I would actually fold laundry during those workouts! I'd do the reps, then run over and fold a few things, then run back and do another set.

I have to say, I did not care for STS when we first got it, but now I like it because it's an easy plan to follow. And I feel stronger.

Have a good weekend everyone and stay away from those cookies!

Thanks, Melinda! It's nice to know those push ups aren't quite as bad as I remember them! Believe me, I'm a "on the knees" kinda gal too ;). But I have made up my mind that I am NOT going to try to keep up with Cathe on the push ups (either in Meso 1 or GS) because every time I do, I mess up my neck. My pace is just going to have to be good enough ....

Good evening!

Been working along on the CLX rotation, week two started yesterday and today was a rest day, so I had a massage. Oh darn.

Well, off to get some sewing done. Hope everyone is doing great.

OK, forget what I said about the pushups on meso 1. I guess the first week was fine, but week 2.... what was she thinking!!! I skipped the last set, got sick of them. I hope next week is better.

So there is a guy that is on meso 1 chest/biceps and that's the only dvds he is in. I wonder if he got hurt or something happened.

Rhea, the massage sounds great!

I just want to do some cardio and abs today. Will see what happens.

Oh my, Melinda, just when you had soothed my ruffled feathers !!!! Maybe it's the season ;). I had to go lighter on GS CT today than I've done in over a year. It just wasn't there ..... (BUT, I did better on the push ups than I usually do - go figure  ) I'm going to have to pay more attention when I do Meso 1 - although I do seem to remember one guy wasn't there a whole lot.

Rhea - Those blasted massages, huh :p ;)?????

Tracy - You okay and still with us :)? I miss you!

Hi babes! I'm sorry I have been absent! :( I miss you too! DH and I have been running around alot in the evenings, trying to enjoy the good weather while we've got it!

I say everyone should just skip any push ups they don't want to do!

Rhea, how did you find out about that Insanity workout? You seem to know about all kinds of workouts out there! Tracie Long has filmed some new workouts but I don't know the details yet. I'll try to find out.

It's gotten warm again here too and my workout area is about 70 degrees or so and that is too hot for me! I sweat alot even with a fan. And I don't heat that room in the winter and I have the fan going year around. It never seems to get much below 60 in the winter though so it works for me. :)

So I saw on Cathe's news that she's coming out with more products I will likely have to have! Sigh. The new weighted gloves, the 2 foot circle band for B & G. Darn that Cathe finding my needs and filling them!

Doing 4DS this week. I think I better set a date to start STS again, dreaded push ups and all, goodness! I gotta psych myself up for it I think!

Tracy - Good to see ya! Let me know if you decide to do STS again, okay :)? I was kinda waiting until the cardio came out but... Actually, I do a couple Meso 3s next week for the August rotation but I am NOT looking forward to such long workouts....

Good afternoon!

Tracy - I get Tony Horton's one-on-on trainer every month...like I need to have different videos...lol. Every once in a while there is an extra dvd with a preview of some new workouts. They are full length workouts, just only part of the program. I got the Insanity Cardio a couple of months ago, I still too 'fraid to try it. I got another one last month for a program called Rev Abs, I think that is what it is called. I did a little bit of it as an ad on. Not too bad, but I was not enamoured.

I really want to have another go at STS, just got to figure out how it can be done without having to drag all that equipment from the back room everyday. Well, besides just leaving it in the living room which is not an option.

My next house will have to have an area just for all equipment and the workout!

So, today was a day that I really had to do the.....go workout....no you cannot skip....don't be a lazy person...how are you ever going to fit into that swimsuit if you are a slug......mantra in my head so I would do my workout. It worked, I promised myself I only had to get through Burn Intervals and then that was enough. And it was, I forgot it is 45 minutes. But in intervals, at least you get to try and catch your breath after each high intensity cardio.

And then....I had to put pantyhose on for this evening's Teen Court Training. Yeck. I hate feeling like a stuffed sausage.

Okay, back to work. Have a great rest of the day...oh and I'm going to be out of town for a couple of days, so talk to you Monday!

Rhea, I haven't worn panty hose in probably years. I hate them!

I finished week 2 of meso 1. After meso 2 & 3 moving slower, I sure notice only 30 sec between sets, it really moves along

I want to walk tonight. I'ts been a couple weeks. Getting cooler here, but not cold. We have to leave a lot earlier in the evening, since it's getting dark sooner.

Have a good weekend everyone.

HI ladies,
Low Carbers huh? Well I'm not a low carber but a clean eater. I need carbs for fuel and protien/fat to build.
I had a great week of workouts:
Mon- CTX Step/intervals cardio only; CTX biceps/ triceps/ all step abs
Tues- Imax 1
Wed- Leaner Legs
Thurs- 4DS BC/KB Cardio Power Premix- This was fantastic! I love/hate this premix.
Fri-rest
Sat- BM1 step only portion; CTX shoulders; STS Ab Circuits No-equipment abs

I have my tower for STS now. I'm thinking I'll do a month of Functional Fitness and give my shoulder one more month before doing STS. Might even be nice to wait for the cardio section. I have had STS since it was finally shipped out and I haven't been in a position to do it. I'm also thinking that X-mas season is coming up and I'm a manager for a retail store and I know I will miss workouts. What to do what to do.
Going camping today up in the BitterRoots. Monday is my B-day so we have a few friends going camping with us. Should be lots of fun. I'm taking my plane and rock crawler to play with. There are great rocks up there and a lot of open space to fly. I love R/C! I know I'm a kid!

Enjoy the weekend girls.

Hey, Reese :). "Low Carb" is really a misnomer since we all eat carbs ;). All LC implies is that we don't consider it the main food group but keep it to a minimum, sticking to the high fiber, low glycemic fruits and vegetables.

And then some of us have just fallen off the bandwagon completely.....gorging ourselves with any type of food....LOL Actually, I resemble that remark lately!

Hi babes! Rhea, I got a good laugh from your last post! LOL! :D Thanks for the info on your Tony workouts, you are definitely the video vixen my friend! I think I have to hold off on any more workouts right now, I have to save my money for some Dansko shoes! :p What is Teen Court Training and how come you have to wear panty hose?

Hi Reese! Good to see you! You are rocking those workouts already since getting back to them! I understand your challenge for STS so I have an idea you may want to try. Do you think you could take a week every month to do one a week's worth of STS? It can at least give you a taste of it instead of wondering what it is. Hope you had a great weekend camping and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Lita, I hadn't thought about waiting until STS Cardio came out to tackle the program again, I was just planning to start again when we got cooler. I will definitely let you know when I plan to start it again just in case you want to join me!!

Melinda, we've taken a turn in our weather today. Colder and rainy. This past weekend was gorgeous and warm! We even went on a tour of wineries in our area and had a blast! Hope you get a lot of walks in before you get colder there!

I have panty hose and am in a quagmire about either wearing them or dragging the boots out. It seems too soon to bring boots into the wardrobe but I hate panty hose too!

Did Body Max today. Thinking about tormenting myself with Drill Max tomorrow. But I'm scared of it!

Found a little info on Tracie Long's new workouts:

Tracy - I would love to join ya on STS! My only request is that we don't begin Meso 3 until after the time change ;). I just can't get up anymore and a 70 min workout just isn't do-able these days .

That's one of the greatest things about living here - we just don't do pantyhose :D! Well, the younger chicks do but those of us who have come to realize the important things in life don't bother :p!

Hmm, I might be up for that too. I really do want to do a round of STS, just haven't got the giddyup and go to lug all that equipment. I just have to think of something.

Let's see, been busy cleaning up around the house and putting things away for the summer. Tonight I need to get to the apples and probably try to get some of my warmer clothes out. We might even have to start a fire tonight. It was only 59 degrees in my house when I went home at lunch. It was 58 outside. Not much difference! Probably should unhook the swamp cooler too since it lets in a lot of cold air. I think it will get to freezing tonight. Wow, 90s this weekend and 58 today.

I did Burn Circuit 1 today. Only workout I did, but I upped the weight on a few of the exercises because they were too easy last time. I think I'll be nice and sore tomorrow.

Okay, back to work ( I snuck in here today....tut, tut...):p

Crazy weather, huh Rhea ?!?! We aren't as bad as you but we were 83 yesterday and are right now at 37....
