Low Carbers & Friends - October 2012

Rhea - I suggest you take it easy for several more days so that nasty bug doesn't jump up and bite you again ;). Hey - any port in a storm, right :D? At least you have a good reason for not being motivated :p!

OK, got the next workout series ordered.

We are having Indian summer this week, yea! Going to go biking tomorrow, it's a race before the sun goes down. Once we change times, we will only have time for weekend biking and only when it's relatively warm. So taking advantage of it this week.

My son and dad went on vacation. My son turns 22 tomorrow and dad is 80. DS drives and dad pays :) They are in Dollywood now, in TN. In a few days they head to Wash DC. I am just happy my son and dad get along so great, my dad retired right before DS was born, so they got pretty close. This will build good memories for my son. Plus the weather is great this week. DS posted a picture of them at the Dixie Stampede, some sort of musical.

I was not feeling good for about 2 weeks. And last week I even had 24 hrs where I was a little warm and had bouts of sweating, really weird. But it ended quickly. Now several people are having stomach flu, which to me really sounded like food poisoning. one person came from a chili cookoff and any time you eat food from a bunch of people, you never know how they handle their food. (no meaning to sound like a snob about that, but it's true)

Rhea, I hope you feel better. Glad we don't have snow yet!
Tracy, I hope you can get the house finalized soon. And your management position makes me tired just hearing about it!
Lita, ok, what happened in 1999? Someone who paints a whole house in record time can not be considered "low motivation" in my book.

Enjoy the week!

Melinda - How awesome your son and dad are vacationing together !!!! I'm sorry you weren't feeling well - so glad it passed you by without really laying you low :)! As for 1999 - don't know what happened then other than it was the one and only time I ever had the flu ;) - but it just seems like such a long time since I've had motivation ... I'm not sure the painting was motivation - I think that was more obsession, lol!

GOOD MORNING ALL!!!!Yes, I have had a lot of caffeine. Had to wake myself up somehow after last night's lack of sleep. Lak of sleep for many reasons...number one probably from being so keyed up with watching the SFGiants win!!! I'm still excited. :D I almost can't believe that they pulled it off. Three straight wins to get to the Worlds Series.....all St Louis had to do was win one game.....one....they only managed to score one run in three games!!! Ahhh,

Okay, back to reality. Melinda - it is great that your son and dad can vacation together! It will be some great memories for both. I forgot to answer your question about the calorie burn. I have a device called a bodybugg or one similar. Mine is from bodyfit media. It is worn on your left tricep area and it will tell you your calorie burn (via skin temperature, heart rate, etc., some sort of algorthym (i know I spelled that wrong) It also tells me how much I sleep at night, how long I was laying down and how much is really sleep. For example, last night I was in bed for over six hours, but I only managed to get 5 hours and 15 minutes of actual sleep. At first I did not think it was real accurate and took everything with a grain of salt. However, after the 98 challenge where my fat loss was really slow, I think it is probably more accurate than I realized. My calorie deficit versus my output with the burn....eating about 1900 calories and burning between 2400 and 3000 calories....was too much, more than 20 or 30% most of the time. So I never really had any re-fuel days.

Crude, I hit the send button by accident before I finished. I don't have edit button on the ipad? Hmm...

Anyhoo....so far no workouts for me today. I'll see if I can squeeze one in when I get home.

Got a great review from the Board of Supervisors, so I'm employed for the next year. Yippee.

Hey, I just found the edit button....so that's what that check mark is for!!! LOL

Hey have you guys done the Barre part of the low impact series. I, for whatever reason, haven't popped that one in yet. How is it?

Rhea - Maybe you had a BIT too much caffeine, lol :p! Congrats on your review :D! Not that any of us are surprised, ya know! And hey - go Giants ! I just did Turbo Barre Sunday. It's so different from the usual lower body workout.... I like it because it's so much easier on my joint issues BUT it also doesn't seem to do much. Maybe it's just me because it IS so different ... Anyway, I DO like it but will admit I usually skip the "endurance" part and "floor work (which is for the upper body) and just do the legs. Makes it a shorter workout ;)... While some of the positions really sting while you're doing them, there doesn't appear to be DOMS issues with it (for me, anyway). However, I read an article not long ago that says DOMS isn't the end all/be all of your workout.

LIta - just remember to read my three posts really fast....then you'll probably get the total feel of too much caffeine and the rambling wild woman!!

Rhea, I think I want a bodybugg. Maybe a good thing to request for Christmas since I can never think of what I want. I like the sleep tracking part too. I think I could track my sleep with my overall sense of wellbeing, too.

I like the turbo barre workout. I skip the beginning strength workout. I sometime skip some of the floor toning stuff, but DON"T skip the ab work! There's some sit ups that are killers with one elbow on the floor. I can't do all of them. I just think it's good for variety.

Weather getting cold :(

Melinda- you would like the bodybugg. It is a rather fun little tool. I wear it all the time. It also has made me realize that I do tend to burn off a decent amount of calories, so I have to adjust my calorie intake a bit higher and I will probably start burning off the fat a bit better. (that save mode keeps starting up I think) Especially when I am doing two workouts a day during the challenges. Should burn more than a couple of lbs. during 98 days. So I'm working on the adjustments for the holiday challenge.
