Low Carbers & Friends - June

Hi Everyone from Myrtle Beach! The weather has been sunny and we got an upgrade room to an ocean view right on the beach. That sounds good, but this is our 3rd room. Had some issues with the others. This place is going through some construction, no water at all yesterday! And drilling all day today!!! We're going to see if we can get some sort of discount.

But even at all that, we are relaxing and enjoying ourselves. Been going in the ocean and also walking. Getting plenty of rest and sleep.

Happy Birthday Tracy. Sounds interesting with the ski poles, but I don't think the people of Ohio are ready for me walking with those down the street! Can it be seen online? I'd like to see what you are talking about.

All right, where has everyone gone? Vacation? In a stooper somewhere?:(

I aven't been able to post much. The BFFM posting takes a lot of my time and is required for the contest. But doing well. Still doing STS and then cardio between the weights. I think I"m going to start training with some friends to do a 10k in October. So a lot of jog/walking for me. Something with a goal.

Let's see, I finished Disc #8 this morning. I guess I had better catch my workout manager up so my little signature thingy is right. Yesterday I did an interval cardio (and still used the 3 lb med ball, so my arms are going to be worthless soon.)

Tomorrow will probably be a rest day since I'm traveling to Sacto with DH. I am going to take a yoga dvd and maybe travel fit with me. Got to have something to do in the hotel room while DH is at meetings.

I know Reece had to move her store at the end of May so I think work might be taking her away from us for a bit. :(

Lita, I dunno what happened last week but I was one aching woman after Power Hour last week. Goodness! I hurt for days! I don't remember it doing it to me like that before. Looks like I need to to it more often! I plan to tackle MIS tomorrow, hope it doesn't kill me too bad. :p Travel Fit yesterday and an Amy cardio today.

I have a website you can check out regarding nordic walking. It is geared to where I live, but it gives you a background of what it is. It works with your natural stride so you push off of the poles when they are behind you. I hope it's something that may interest you! It is www.nordicwalkingjourneys.com. Let me know what you think!

I grabbed week 1 from STS meso 1 and started doing that for something to grab. Don't know if I will go through it again. I need to do those 1 RM tests again but just don't feel like it!
 
Hey, guys, I was here - but got tired of talking to myself ;). This week I've hit some snags so spent time running to the chiro and the dentist :rolleyes:. Oh well...

Rhea - So glad you're doing well on the challenge! But I had no doubts whatsoever :D!

Tracy - Thanks for the link :)! I was hoping to see a video, though, 'cause I'm not sure I get it :eek:.... And yes, I tend to look at instruction pictures and never read the text :p... I know what you mean about PH - every now and again a workout whams me like it's never done :eek:. Luckily, normally it's only a one-time occurrence, though :D.

Melinda - Welcome back :cool:! I'm sure you're not glad to be back :( - but WE are glad to see you ;)!

Hey Lita - hope you are doing better!

I've been plugging along with the workouts, with car trips and court between! Yesterday started the 10k training with a run in the evening (okay, walk/run) I have all the was until 10/10/10 to get that distance better. I know I can walk 6.21 miles, but I'd rather not spend the entire day at the trail.

I also finished up Week #3 of Endurance. So next week is #4, then rest and on to hypertrophy.

Jeez, Rhea, I don't know - that's a heck of a hike :eek:! Sounds too much like work to me :p.

Do you get to have any special treat for your birthday - or must all your treats be non-food in origin :)?

Lita, I hope you are feeling better! I bet if you Googled Nordic walking, you could find a video of it. I'm sorry I don't have one! I did MIS this week and it didn't seem as bad as PH. But it was still bad! :D

Goodness! It is pouring buckets of rain at the moment! And just 2 hours ago, we were sitting outside of a restaurant. Go figure!

My meetup groups have changed for the summer. 6 a.m. stair running Mondays and Wednesdays. Yikes! :eek: I'll give it a whirl some Monday I have off. :) One of my workouts this upcoming week will be a work party on a nature trail. Why not?

Good afternoon!

I was good on my birthday and only indulged in one glass of wine and then a little ice cream (and I mean a little) with fresh strawberries. Of course the homemade lasagna wasn't the healthiest thing to eat, but it was mainly spinach and pretty darn good.

I was also very nice to myself and got an ipad. Totally cool. I have to keep myself away from playing with it so much. It does so much, I can even get on the web with it on the forums, but I type much faster on my regular key board. I got it mainly for reading books and that is so cool, the pages turn and everything. I mean..they flip at the rate your finger is going over the screen. And there are fun aps you can get for it. I even have a food app on it to keep track of things I eat. I still write everything manually, and will continue doing so until I trust the application. I'm actually likeing the free app vs the one I paid for on the food diary. Go figure. :rolleyes:

Okay, back to work.
 
Hi babes! You did really good on your birthday Rhea! I think I celebrated for you this weekend and I was happy to do it! :p

Congratulations on getting the IPad Rhea! DH bought me an ITouch this year and I loved it so much that he got himself one too. We call them our digital comforters and they are hard to put down! I only have free apps on it--there's a ton! I email on it rarely because my keyboard is even smaller than yours but it works in a pinch if I don't wanna boot up the laptop.

I'm looking forward to the work party Lita, it will be different for sure!

I did one of Tracie Long's new one today, Reach Further after another workout thinking it was going to be stretch oriented. HA! There was a little of that, but it worked the core alot and had balance work. It was good!

Next week is my "rest" week from STS, so I'm looking forward to doing all of Tracie's new ones (including the "older" ones which I haven't done yet)

Okay, off to play with the ipad (work? what's that?) I'm going to see if I can get this forum okay on it.
 
Okay, so where'd everyone go? I'll just have to play here by myself.
Let's see....workout this am was Disc #12. Will do a walk/run tonight on the trail. That first part is always tough, it is a slight up hill that only your HR notices. Especially since It is much warmer today. Right now is it hangin out at 84. I guess I can take the wall-o-waters off my plants in the garden. I've probably seared them by now! LOL:eek::rolleyes:

Hi babes! Rhea, you crack me up! Are you going to rest REST next week like you should from STS? :) Tracie's 2 new series aren't very restful my friend!

Were you able to get to this forum on the IPad? I believe I had some trouble when I either tried to get here or tried to post. Can't remember!

The work party was good! It was in the low 80s though (first time this year we've gotten past 70 or something!) so I was pretty warm in my long sleeve shirt and jeans. But I didn't get in trouble with stinging nettles like DH did a little bit. Nasty plant! I only hike with long pants on now no matter how hot it is because of those stupid things. Anyhoo, we made progress cleaning up the nature trail. I was willing to work longer but DH wasn't so we only put in a good hour. Quite a few people showed up so that was great!

I did PLB today. I'm sure my a$$ will be broken tomorrow!

Monday I will attempt the 6:00 a.m. meetup group workout. I'm looking forward to it but a little sad I can't sleep in on my day off. Aren't I a whiner? :p
 
Tracy - Hope your a$$ is only cracked, not broken ;) :D :p! Sorry about Monday - I have a cat that ensures I never get to sleep in on the weekends or any other day I manage to get off so I know all too well what it's like :rolleyes:.

Happy Belated Birthday Rhea! Sounds like you got a great gift there. My son has one of those things, I think the IPOD touch like Tracy and it is great to send him messages. I send him facebook messages and he gets them, so when his minutes are out on his phone I can still get in touch with him.

OK, this is gross. I just swallowed 2 fish oil capsules that were stuck together and they are stuck in my throat!

Lita, we have 2 cats that used to chase each other in the night. Now they go outside! they liked to do that at 4am!

Tracy, did you get up early? I don't think I could get motivated to do that. I may wake up that early at times, but being somewhere is different! I say that, but I have to be at the airport this Monday at 5am, I'm going to Chicago for the day for work.

so, I've basically been doing meso 1 from STS mixed with cardio in between, from walking or 30 min dvds. I am getting tired of the music on STS. I have also lost a lot of my creativity for coming up with workouts. Oh, well. Since I work from home in between health screenings, I've been trying to walk in my house while I'm on the phone. there have been days when I walked/moved around for over an hour. I'm just trying to do it because I have found myself sitting for hours. And no one is here to think I am weird. I couldn't do that in an office.

It's been hot here. Upper 80s and low 90s and high humidity. But it is suppose to cool to the 70s by the end of next week and I am happy about that.
 
OMW, Melinda, hope you got those capsules down :eek:!!!!!! I understand the workout funk you're in :(. Maybe it's just the summertime blues ;)? That's what I keep telling myself, anyway :cool:. At one time I had 4 cats and 2 dogs, all indoor - but I was younger and slept a lot better then :rolleyes:.
