Low Carbers & Friends - July

Tracy - I'm so proud of you for taking them to the humane society. I would end up adopting them all. I'm such a sucker for animals. I'm lucky that I don't have a farm. I'd have all sorts, horses, goats, cows, cats, dogs, whatever wandered onto my property.

I could be with all this darn heat here. I'm already a little tired of it, hard to do cardio in the heat, but I have to, so I do. I get like this  ! LOL At least it is good for my skin, all that blood rushing to "clean" it out. hahaha

You are so funny, Rhea :p! Other than the heat, is all going well with the BFFM challenge and life in general :)?

PS - Heat stroke is not nice so please remember the mantra.... Modify, modify, modify ;).

Lita, I can't believe that I keep doing STS over and over again. I think it's because the weight work has been so effective and I don't feel that the other weight work goes slow enough for me so I can go heavier. I have made definite improvements since we got those. I do still like to do the other Cathe leg workouts like B&G and GS legs.

We are starting to add bike rides. It's about 9 miles round trip on a trail at the metro park. It is fun and I really enjoy it. When the weather cools, I'm packing a lunch and DH and I are going to have a picnic there. They have a table 1/2 way along the trail and I have a basket on my bike. All I need is a little bell. I kept riding it and saying "ching, ching". It's the VERY little things in my life that thrill me!

Tracy, I have a friend from HS that invited me to Seattle to visit and we can stay at her house. In fact, she is planning on moving to Germany for a few years and said we were welcome to stay in her house, even if she wasn't there. I would really like to do that. Oh, as for the cats, we have a trap too because about 10 years ago we had about 12 strays and they were spraying everywhere!!! our house would stink and at that time we didn't have cats. We took them to the humane society as well. A few years later when we were trying to get rid of a possum with that trap and we did have cats of our own, we kept catching our own stupid cats in the trap. One day I didn't know he was in there for 1/2 the morning.

Rhea, you are doing so wonderful on this. I admire your sticking to the food program part of it. I know you cheated, but one day is ok in my opinion.

Just finished week 1 of Meso 2. I do like this meso, too!

Wow, Melinda, you're really rocking on STS! I am doing S&H for a few weeks - that's my favorite because it's a slower tempo :). I found the first two meso cycles of STS to be too fast but I will be doing meso 3 once I get done with STS. Isn't it great how Cathe has made something for everyone ? I just hope she comes out with some more slower, heavier wt workouts but after STS, we might have a while to wait.... Way to go on that bike riding! How fun to have a picnic once it cools off - what a romantic ;)!

Hi babes! I'm sorry I have been a bit MIA--I've been wearing myself out lately! :p Too much fun outdoors I think. That and going to Portland and back every weekend.

Rhea, your tomato head  cracked me up, because I get that way too in the summer! And sometimes in the winter too. I hope it's cooled down some for you, the heat can make me cranky!

We didn't have any luck catching the strays here and returned the trap. :( I felt so bad that I couldn't help them have a better life. :( My supervisor at work has lots of animals and has gotten quite a few when they've wandered onto her property. Thank God for people like her!

Melinda, that was quite an experience you had with cats!!!! You gave me a good laugh when you said your cats got caught in your trap!!! Wow! I admire you for your dedication to STS! I have to build up to it mentally. I'm sure I'll undertake the program again sometime in the fall or maybe next January. I don't want to do it the same time of year every time. Does that make sense? It does to my tired brain. :D If you can get to Seattle, the best time of year is to go is July, August or September. July and August are pretty much a guarantee for good weather, September is usually beautiful but it can rain here and there. Hope the weather improves soon for a bike ride!

Lita, I have been wanting to do S & H but haven't had a good week to do it in yet. It's my go-to workout for the summer gosh darn it!

Stair climb Monday with abs and arm work at home afterwards, dinner with SIL last night and B & G tonight. Not sure which upper body workout I'll do tomorrow. There I go winging it again!

Later fit babes!

Tracy - S&H has long been my summer-time favorite, too :D. I like being able to change it up by doing a different rep count to keep it interesting - and to keep from feeling lopsided ;). But my dvd is giving me problems - I've cleaned it and the player both but it still had some glitches in this morning. I certainly hope I'm not going to have to replace it :(! Enjoy your stair climb - I don't envy you in the least :p!

We just had a streak of hot, humid, awful weather. Now it's cooled and it is so nice!!!

Maybe I should get the S & H series. I don't have that but you 2 are tempting me. Are they 1 hour workouts?

DH's bike broke on the trail. Thank goodness it was only a mile away from the car or it would not have been good. A tragedy on the bike trail... I rode over a baby garter snake and smashed it's back. That made me sad, I don't really know why. I don't like snakes, but I did feel really bad about that. Shoot, I was thinking about that even when I went to bed that night.

Ohio State fair is on now and I got free tickets by emailing the tv station. They said there would be 15 winners, but I thought, naw, they're going to give tickets to everyone that asks for them. Well, here they are in my hands! We are going on Sunday. I am going to eat some fair food, not a lot, I don't care for all that greasy stuff, but I will have some stuff.

I am cranking along on my chem class and have an A. I've taken 4 of 5 tests so far. Only 2 labs left. I will be glad to get the testing part over, I really stress over those.

have a good weekend everyone!

Melinda - How sad :(! I would've felt bad, too. Hopefully it won't keep bothering you - that's how I am and it drives me crazy . Hope you enjoy that fair and whatever food you decide to have . I always think things like that sound good - but in reality, I always find I have much different tastes now that I'm older :p. Congratulations on your awesome performance in school :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It certainly doesn't sound like you need to stress - but again, that's exactly what I would do, too ;).

As for S&H, here's a basic run-down:
S&H Legs & Shoulders - 67 minutes (Warm up 3.5, legs/glutes 30, shoulders 31, stretch 2)
S&H Chest & Back - 59 minutes (Warm up 3, chest 26.5, back 18, superman 3, planks 6, stretch 2)
S&H Triceps & Biceps - 60 minutes (Warm up 2.5, triceps 23, biceps 24, abs 7.5, stretch 3)

They do a slow 6 count positive, 2 count negative. However, 99% of the time, I switch it up and do 6/2 one week, 2/6 one week, and 4/4 the 3rd week :).
