Low Carbers & Friends - Feb 2011

Melinda - Hopefully the funk is over for both of us ;). Glad those meetings went well and are now behind you - that must be a relief. I'm sure this last month of school will feel like crunch time but I know you'll do an awesome job at it just like you have at all the rest :D!

Slowing down the fast reps & replacing the shoulder band work in GS keeps from getting neck & shoulder pain from it. Plus it helped me increase my strength, too - what a deal, huh :p? Today I went back to S&H (did chest, biceps, shoulders - but no militaries) and was very happy to see increased strength through those, too .

Hi babes! I hope your funk has lifted Lita, I hate getting in those! :( Basil sends you puppy kisses! As for your cranky boss, kick him in the shins I say!

Melinda, a big stair climb in Seattle is 130 flights. Some number like that. It's at the tallest building in Seattle, the Columbia Tower. I decided not to do it because I'd have to take time off of work to train for it (not alot of time) but I'm too busy at work at the moment. Maybe next year.

Yay!! Rhea got some much deserved time off!!! :D I can't believe your weather is warm enough that you can paint outside! We're going to drop in temps again and get a ton of snow in the mountains. We got a tease of spring on Saturday, it was soooo nice!

Melinda, I know you will do really well in this class, as in all of your others! Hope you don't have such a busy week again soon!

Some of the women at work are working out at lunch and at the morning break. I decided to join them at the morning break and it ain't easy. We squat against a wall for at least 3 minutes. Yikes! Then we do a little arm or ab work. A great way to wake up and get a little bonus in.

The Westminster Dog Show starts tonight. (On USA channel.) It turns out that the best in breed for the Cavaliers is in Basil's bloodline! How cool is that?

Tracy - You tell the BB that his puppy kisses were the cure and give him several back from me :D! I think it's WAY cool that BB is from such a fine bloodline !

OMG, Tracy. 130 flights. That is crazy. I don't think I'd want to do that. I thought you were going to say you were going to show BB at the show ;) JK!

Snow is melting here, yea! I did GS chest/tri today, but kept out the overhead presses. Those hurt my shoulders, give me a headache.

Lita, you have some good ideas for your workouts. How is the temps there, any melting? I'm glad to get rid of the ice!

Rhea, are you painting now?

Thanks, Melinda :). I avoid the OH press too... Scary how alike we are :p! As for our weather, we've had several days of Chinook winds so right now we are in the upper 50s with abundant sunshine and very little ice remains . We're to get back to winter weather by the weekend  but for now I'm soaking up the sunshine and warmer temps :D! Thankfully, although our in-town winds were at 60 mph, other than a ton of twigs in my yard, there was no damage - which is an extra bonus ;).

Tracy - I agree with Melinda... 130 flights is just crazy !!!!!

Rhea - Are you trying to get it all done in one day ;)????? You haven't passed out from paint fumes, have you????

Nope, just between work and the house, no time to play. :( For the next two months or so. Got it all painted, 99%, still have some touch ups and a couple of those pain in the rear corners to do. I was the one elected to cut in all the corners and walls (since we were not putting color on the ceilings) Pfft.

That's what you get for being queen of the home projects & doing such a good job on them, Rhea ;). Sorry you're so busy :( but so very happy you got to pop in to visit a minute :D!

Hi babes! I was completely wrong about the stair climb flights--it's 65 flights, not 130. :D But I still haven't signed up for it and probably won't. I am not too excited to go up that many flights with no break. The way I do it now is to go up 13 flights, go down 13 flights and back up again for a total of 5 times. Makes a huge difference to be able to go down before going back up again!

Lita, it was such a fluke that I got Basil to begin with (DH called a breeder from the internet that referred us to another breeder that had just one puppy left and fortunately, we all clicked!) and it's such a bonus that he came from a great bloodline! The Westminster dog is named Full of Malarkey Miles of Isles. Too funny, huh? The first name is the breeder's, the second is the dog's name. Basil's mother is Full of Malarkey Madame Butterfly (we all call her Maddie). If Basil were ever to show, his name would be Emerald Isle Basil Hayden.

I am still struggling to get my workouts in! Since Basil arrived, I haven't been able to get the time in I normally do. :( And yes, it stresses me out! So I am happy for the 10:00 torment at work!

Rhea, I'm so happy you could stop by despite how busy you are! I know this is all temporary and all of your hard work is going to pay off soon!!

We just plunged into the 20s at night here so I imagine we'll be passing is along to WY. I don't know what Rhea is contending with in CA!

Have a great rest of your weekend babes!!! :)

What cool names, Tracy :D! Oh my yes, I'd rather do them in sets of 5 like you do than all up then all down ! I'm afraid I'd end up falling down them because by then my legs would be like jelly ! I think you gave much better than you got, my friend ;). We're sitting at 0 right now and it's mid-morning .

Tracy, 65 is still a lot. You must have double that for up and down on your first report. I like how you do it as well with breaking up the flights. YOu are doing circuit stairs!

Lita, I forgot exactly which state you were in. We were doing screenings in WY the beginning of Janurary. Next time we go out, I'll see how close it is. Of course, I wasn't there, I think I'd only want to go in the summer.

Rhea, post pictures when you can.

We have all the snow and ice melted thanks to warmer temps this week. DH and I went for a walk on Fri, it was windy, but nice to get out. Now there is little balls of hail coming down, back to winter. At least the old stuff is gone.

Finished up the GS series this past week, will move on to something else. I had more headaches than I've had in a long time, I know it is from some of the exercises in those workouts. I'm glad she's gotten away from putting the barbell on your shoulders. That whole movement of bringing it over your shoulders and holding it there I think is what causes me problems.

Only one more week of Feb. Yea!

Melinda - I think you were probably down in Casper or Cheyenne, both of which are several hours from where I am :). I wouldn't want to be in either of those places any time of year :p! It's always a relief to get rid of the old stuff before the new stuff hits. Not that we want the new stuff, but at least that means there isn't old stuff lurking to challenge us, too ;).

Yep, all we have had is snow snowshoe and more snow. Oh and there is more to come. Err. Sat we had to shovel out of here and then dig into the house in Chester! Electricity has been a premium lately. Put off my starting the tile for a couple of days. I guess I shouldn't worry the outside of the house is not going to get done until the weather warms up enough to glue.

Got to add the latest pics to my iPad. I'll try tomorrow when I have some brain power back.

Lita, yes, those names sound familiar.

I did S&H Mon for chest/back
Tue: KPC cardio only
Wed: I guess S&H

Been trying to stretch my legs more. I think that is some of the cause of my pain issues, tight muscles in the legs!

Rhea - So glad you could pop in :D! Of course, we'd love more pictures when you can :). Sorry the snow is slowing you down :( but at least it's letting you pace yourself so you don't wear yourself out doing everything at once ;).

Melinda - Somehow I didn't catch any enthusiasm in your workout lineup :p. Extra stretching is a wonderful thing - when we take the time to do it. I usually wait until my body is really cranky before I listen to it .

Let see if there will be a picture of the cabinets!! Plus a pix of my sewing room...yes it is a purple shade!

Now for that snow! The first picture is from the sewing room window and the killer icicles that are hanging. I think that corner icicle is now almost to the ground. The second picture is the house in Susanville. We did not have any snow on the ground before the storm. All that snow is from one 1/2 storms...got more after this pix was taken. I guess there is another on the way tonight. Oh joy..... At least it melts a little faster in Feb since the sun is out longer.

Awesome pictures, Rhea :D!!!! Love all that cabinet space - I am jealous! Looks like you'll have plenty of room to sew up a storm, too ! Hopefully you won't get too much more snow in the next storm!

Rhea, you definitely have more snow than us at the moment. I love your house! The purple is a nice shade, too!

Lita, I didn't have much enthusiasm today. did S&H leg part, then had a phone call that interupted me for an hour and so I just stopped for the day, no shoulder work. I may hop on the bike for 20 min this evening. Got out of class early. YEA! 4 classes left and then the final. Almost done!

Tracy, how are you doing?

Melinda - I don't blame you for stopping after that interruption :)! Only 4 more classes? Wow! Bet you're pretty excited over that :D! Well, not the final, of course ;), but for the upcoming break !

Lita, I am very much looking forward to the end of this class. It is taking a lot of time. It is 4 hours on Mon and Wed night in class, then study time at home.

Today I did 22 min on bike. I have to go out for a bit, but may do the S&H shoulder work I missed yesterday when I get back.

Looks like a big storm coming tomorrow :(
