Low Carbers and Friends - TFN

Tracy - So glad to see you!!!! Sorry you've been sick again :( - what a bummer several times over! Sounds like a great Thanksgiving Day ! Rest, rest, rest - need I repeat myself ;)?

As for me - well, in Oct Dix broke her ankle. The middle of this month, I got hit by a car (obviously not terribly bad since I'm here to tell you about it :p ) so I REALLY am ready for same-ole same-ole!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!!!!

Hi babes!!

Lita, I'm so sorry about you and Dix!!! I'm very happy you are here to say you survived being hit by a car but me thinks you weren't driving at the time, am I right? Did you go to a doctor? Were you diagnosed with any injuries? Are you able to be active at all now? I know, nosey, nosey I am!! :( I hope Dix's ankle has healed!!

My doctor thought I had more than the flu but whatever it was, it's over with now. Whew!

T-Day was good although Dear Sis got on my nerves, and DH's nerves too so it was par for the course!

I've done basically no decorating and don't know if I'll get to it. DH and I intended to go through all of our stuff and decide what to keep or donate but the weather changed all that. DH ended up shoving a bunch of stuff in the garage against the boxes that have our decorations so we could get our cars in. The arctic blast demanded we do that.

And I'm sorry we're sending it on east. I believe Rhea got it when we did because it's been below freezing in the a.m. where my dad lives. Yikes!

Started the X-Train/LIS 90 day rotation this past week. I wasn't quite up to par yet for some of it so I cursed at Cathe a few times. :D

Here's to a same ole', same ole' season for us all with only good surprises if any!!

Hi everyone!

Tracy, so sorry you've been so sick and glad you got over it. We are getting several storms, just had a bad one on Friday, today is icy, but suppose to get above freezing to melt ice off roads and cars. Thank goodness for our garage as well!

Lita, Wow, you've had some bumpy times this past fall. I hope you're both feeling better now and enjoying non-eventful times! Yea, for same ole, same ole!

Rhea, how was Tgiving in Mexico. A past coworker from San Francisco also went there for Tgiving. We on the other hand headed to MI to visit DHs family. So we got a whopping -7 degrees on Tgiving, we definitely headed in the wrong direction. But we were lucky that it didn't snow going up or coming back. It's a 6 hour drive, heading north 6 hours in the winter is not smart, but we were fine. Our boys stayed here because they had work and school, so they spent time with the rest of the local family.

So after graduation, I am cleaning our house. Oh, the dust! And my office had so many piles of papers and stuff. I am tackling it, I want my office to look nice, finally! Also taking care of other to-dos that I have neglected. I am so relieved to be done with school. I've been applying for jobs. I can't take to boards until end of Jan or beginning of Feb, but I can still apply for stuff.

Have a good week. I'm on the 7th week of the 90 day rotation for XT. Tracy, I've never tried that rotation you are doing, I've seen it in the XT book, I will have to take a look at it.

Tracy - Glad you're feeling better ! Gosh, I couldn't imagine not decorating . I think that would make Christmas way too depressing . I need the lights and glitter to brighten up the winter ;). As to your questions:
1 - I was walking (and yes, I had the walk light)
2 - The car more shoved me down than hit me since it had been stopped
3 - My first concern was to get up off the street before some other stupid idiot hit me
4 - I figured I could get up and walk so I'd be okay even if pretty darned sore
5 - She never made any attempt to get out of her car to see if I was okay - she just hollered out the door at me. I was so angry that I was afraid if I went over to talk to her, I'd jerk her out of her vehicle and thump her to death !
6 - I figured anyone stupid enough to drive when they only looked left - and never front or right - was too darned dumb for me to want to deal with
7 - I ended up w/ a huge butt bruise and a sore butt bone - also a sore and scraped hand
8 - Yes, I'm still angry about it :p!!!
9 - A part of me regrets not getting her info and reporting her - but that is just vindictive spite talking and I'm trying to convince myself I'm a better person for just thanking God I'm okay and being grateful for it....

Melinda - I'm sure you're really glad for a break from school and a chance to catch up :D. I'm sure you're gonna do great on the boards and hopefully a job will soon be there for you :). As for the XT/LI 90-day rotation, I really liked it but I did it right after the XT 90day rotation and I ended up getting burned out - physically, not mentally. I want to do it again in the future, but I'll make sure I do it after a different rotation than the XT 90 day.

Rhea - Come on, girlie, we're all waiting anxiously to hear how your vacation went!!!

Started a 30-day XT rotation. Not sure if I'll continue from there but... Based it on Cathe's but rather than repeat the same workouts for 2 weeks at a time, I'm changing them up every week. I may do just a LI rotation after this - one just never knows ;).

BTW - we were in the negative double digits all last week (and I don't even want to mention wind chill) so I can empathize with both of you. It all started with snow/ice which is still around due to the frigid cold. We have high winds now but that's because we have a Chinook (which is a wonderful thing this time of year) so now we're actually above zero :D! Hopefully if the winds keep scouring the snow/ice and the sun shines, it will soon disappear.

Okay, I'm finally over here!

Glad you are all better Tracy. Get those decorations out!! We don't want to send Lita over with a skillet now.

Melinda - glad you are all done with school! You will do great on your boards. Must be nice to relax a bit and dig out of all that paperwork.

Lita - hopefully you will hit the 20s at least this week, above zero would probably even feel warm! We've had a few of those extreme low digits too, but for some reason, it is now warmer in Chester/Lake Almanor that it is in Susanville. Must be the lake keeping us warmer for now.

Thanksgiving was okay. I want to go further south next time. It was really on in the 70s and that just didn't seem warm enough. Plus the resort was out of hand with the prices they charge. You are sort of stuck there with the prices, no real town to go to. Oh well, live and learn. Hubby loved the golf course and he played a lot while I layed around. I even worked out in the gym a couple of times, but not too hard.

It has been a while since I've worked out in a rotation. I was going to do the december timesaver rotation that cathe put out, but I just haven't been able to get out of bed early in the morning....too cold....at least that is my excuse. hehe

Have a great day everyone!

Lita, that is awful about the accident. And I can't believe the woman didn't even get out of the car, just acting like it was nothing at all. I'd be worried sick if I hit someone. I'll bet she just drove on and never gave it another thought.

And on a side note, I'm actually getting a little tired of the XT rotation, I've got 2 weeks left on it. I love the shorter workouts, but want to do something a little different.

We've got our tree up, but I am lagging behind on presents. All I want to do is order stuff online and have it sent to my house.

Rhea - Welcome back :D! Glad you took the opportunity to just chill out for the most part - you go, go, go like crazy the rest of the year! We haven't made it to the 20s but the teens feel pretty good right now ;).

Melinda - You're right - I'm sure she just totally blew it off . I would be a basket case had *I* hit someone ! FWIW, I think the 90day rotations go about 2 weeks too long, too :).

Hi babes! Glad to see you all here!! And hoping it warms up for you more than it has already. :)

Lita, I am so sorry about your accident!! :( I'm glad you are OK!!!! I probably would have been too shaken up to act rationally and make her stay and report it to the police. I was hit while I was in my car years ago and even though it wasn't my fault, the guy that hit me got out of his car and started yelling at me. I said nothing in response. But like you, I too would be mortified if I hit someone! Grrr, too many jerks around!

Melinda, I'm glad your 6 hour road trips were uneventful in that extreme cold, yikes! Good luck with your boards although I doubt you'll need any luck! I hope you get your dream job soon too!

Rhea, I'm sorry you were kinda stuck for T-Day. I've thought of getting away for the holidays but have never done it. It's usually around Feb. that I've gotten fed up with the rain and gloom here.

I agree that the 90 day rotations are about 2 weeks too long. But I just started mine so it's OK now! I think the XT/LI rotation is a little tougher cardio-wise. Either that, or I'm slacking in that Dept. :D

I've got some decorations out! And we drove one whole mile down the road to a tree farm and slaughtered a real tree. So we're getting festive around here! I concentrated on getting presents first and did alot of it online. I liked the lack of stress doing that! But I've also gone out and been with the crowds too.

Talk to you soon babes, off to take BB for a run in the rain. :)

Tracy - I am so glad you and DH are getting into the holiday season !!! Just think how awesome it is that you're doing it in your brand-new home :D!!!!
PS - Yes, I was a bit frazzled too ;). I think the anger came later when I had time to think about it all :p....

Melinda - Unless I misread my calendar, I need to wish you a Happy Birthday for tomorrow ! I hope you have an awesome and special day :D :D :D!!!!!

Thanks, Lita! We don't have a lot planned for tomorrow, being my bday is in the middle of the week, but maybe we'll do something on the weekend. We're suppose to get a warm up to the 50s, which is awesome. We have ice all over the place and my mom fell the other day on it. I think her leg is sprained, but she's still able to walk. It hurts her when she sits in certain chairs.

We got our mailed packages out yesterday to DHs family. There was a constant line at the post office. It's a relief to get that out. Something has happened to me the past few years, I am just losing the desire to buy or get presents. I feel like I'd rather just spend time with family and friends and that's good enough. If I had my choice, I'd like us to just do that some day, but that probably won't happen.

Happy Birthday tomorrow Melinda! Hope you have a great day.

Tracy - glad to hear that you are finally getting the spirit, at least a bit. Even though I've been decorating, etc, still not really into the spirit very much. I suppose it is because not like used to be when a kid, I'm more into celebrating a new year I guess.

Lita - glad to see that you are all well and didn't get hurt much from that "accident" I think a nice swift sick to the side panel would be in order. Maybe she would pay attention next time. But probably not....seems like the type of person who didn't really care in the first place.

Well, I guess I had better get back to work. Dang, been procrastinating too long all ready.

Melinda - Wow, 50s would be great weather to celebrate in ! I am so glad your mom didn't get seriously injured! I think if more felt the way you do about the holiday, we would have a lot more peace in this world!!! And be a lot less disappointment ;).

Rhea - Oh to actually have that skillet :D! I know what you mean, Christmas just isn't the same as when we were kids. We hold the day up to high expectations when that's not what it's about anyway. I'm as guilty as the next guy, though .... Hopefully one day I can be more like Melinda and make it about friendship, peace and togetherness. Not that it's a big commercialized day for me. But I am still trying to focus more on the reason for the season and less on the trappings of it.

Since attendance is going to be very rare (even more so ;) ) the next week or so, I want to take the opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and the most blessed of New Years!

Yep, we are just so talkative lately, huh? I hope you have a wonderful Holiday. I'll be working on Monday, well here, but probably not accomplishing much. Then we have Tues and Wed off and I'll probably be in on Thurs to check on things.

Rhea - I actually have the same work schedule :). I'm normally not off the days you and Tracy are but I get a bonus this year, I guess ;). January is going to be pretty tough not getting all this extra time off :p !

Hi sweet babes! I mean to get on here before yesterday to wish you all a very Merry Christmas but obviously, I didn't. :( So I hope you all had a wonderful day and wish you a very happy new year!!!!

Melinda, I hope you had a great birfday!!! :D

Last year changed my attitude alot about holiday expectations. DH and I were so busy working on the house that we wrapped gifts for each other Christmas morning and we were so tired that we cancelled seeing either of DH's brothers that day. This year, we only exchanged cards and no one cared we didn't get gifts. DH's parents also told us to get them nothing. I agree it's about being close with friends and family so I did make sure I got cards out to friends and relatives I hadn't written to in 2 years. As for DH and I? Well, we spoil each other because deep down DH is still a kid on Christmas morning. :)

I did run across something that made me laugh so hard I cried. And I hope to remember to take a listen to it every holiday season--Porky Pig singing "Blue Christmas"--sure takes the stress away when you're laughing. It's on YouTube if you want to check it out here:
porky pig's blue Christmas - YouTube

It's audio only.

I know we haven't spoken too much about workouts this week but I've been trying! I caught a cold 2 weeks ago and had to take it easy for a bit, (I stopped the XT/LI rotation) and now I have to combat all of the bad food and drink I've been enjoying! The other day I did the standing portion of B&G and I have been in quite a bit of pain since! I'm outa shape dear babes! But I took today off and we actually had 40 degree weather and sun! So I took BB out for a run. And boy, the little guy ran fast so I'm hurting again! :D:p

Talk to you soon fit babes!

Tracy - So good to see you ! I think it's awesome that you and DH spoil each other! I also think it's great that you didn't have to run yourself ragged getting for everyone else - that definitely kills the Christmas spirit. Sorry you're such a hurting unit :(!

Melinda and Rhea - How are you ladies :)?

Hi all! I'm just doing fine. Been having a little fun shopping after Christmas. Also was working since my staff had most days off. They have kids. Nuts for them to come into the office. Anyhoo.....haven't done a lick of working out. Feeling it too. I swear that the booty has expanded about five feet. But I'm gearing up for the BFFM new year challenge. Rereading the book and getting a workout rotation with a meal plan even. Okay so I've only managed to get the first chapter read so far and nothing else☺️ but it is in the works. Lol. As soon as I get my sisters present finished. Lol. And as soon as I stop having a glass of wine when I get home. ⚡️Well, I guess I've got to get to knitting. Must finish by next Friday.

Rhea - As always, you have a lot of irons in the fire ! Think you'll ever learn to just kick back and relax ;)?
