Low Carb/Carb-free Snacks?

Can anyone recommend some low carb or carb-free snacks for evening snacking? I usually munch on pretzels or apples, but this is getting BORING!!!

Thanks!

And if you're doing low carb pretzels & apples are just about the worst thing to eat! There are better options:

--almost any kind of nuts. Macadamias, believe it or not, while highest in fat are lowest in carb when it comes to nuts (OK girls, I know you want to, go ahead w/your comments :p )
--celery with cream cheese or peanut butter. Cream cheese = zero carbs, peanut butter about 7 carbs per tablespoon.
--veggies like celery, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, etc. w/some kind of dip. If you make your own, mayonnaise is zero carb. If you buy it, make sure to check the carb content on the label.
--Cheese, cheese, cheese! Pretty much all cheeses are zero carb.

I know that I saw this on the disgusting food list but pork rinds. I like to dip them in hummus. Just don't eat too many.:)

Are they really low carb? I'm not gonna comment on the disgustingness of them......oh heck, yes I am, EW! But aren't they deep fried? I'm guessing there's some kind of bread on there somewhere?

I found some lowcarb/low fat whole wheat tortillas (They are smallish in diameter) and I have been putting a Tablespoon of PB on one and microwaving it for about 10 seconds and roll it up...YUM!!

String cheese is low carb, and fun to eat and peel. Also, this was something I did when I was following the South Beach Diet...Cool Whip. So good, and so, like, nothing! It's low in cals/carbs. And you really don't need to eat alot to satisfy a late night sweet tooth. Plus, it comes in all these flavors now, chocolate, french vanilla. Ummm, I want some right now...:)

Oh, I second (or third) the vote for string cheese. It's my current FAVORITE lo-carb snack!

>whats the best string cheese mozzarella or cheddar an mozz.

All of your suggestions sound great! I thought I should stay away from cheese because of the fat content, but I guess if I get the low fat it's ok? What is the best string cheese, mozzarella or cheddar?

The wheat tortillas and peanut butter sounds yummy too!

I have never studied my diet until recently, as I am getting older and want to do everything I can to smooth the transition into my "next phase of life"...

Sugar free jello is low carb. Also I like grape tomatoes, either alone or with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese.

A South Beach Diet staple is a half cup of part skim ricotta chese with a packet of splenda and a dab of vanilla extract. It sounds kind of strange but actually tastes quite good.

Regarding the string cheese, I save a little money by buying part skim mozzarella in a block and slice it into 1 oz pieces.

For string cheese, my boys and I prefer the taste (and the stringyness, if that's even a word, lol) of Polly-O or Kraft. LOVE THIS STUFF!

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, they have a really tasty and inexpensive Low Fat String Cheese!
