Lots of foxes

So, I'm curious if it's just because we've had such a light snow season so far up here in Monument, CO. It sure seems like there is quite an abudance of very well-fed foxes this year. In fact, my DS was outside and I went to call him inside... our Bichon started to charge the edge of the property and I yelled for him to stop. On the other side of the chicken-wire fence was a pretty large well-fed fox who had the look of "supper time" on it's face!!

Also there are a lot more of those lost pet signs posted.... hate to break it to you, people, but Fluffy has probably long since been digested! :(

Anybody else notice this where you live?

Pam,
First let me say how beautiful your area of the country is :D! My DH and I were hiking Pike's Peak back in September and thought we'd love to settle anywhere near it (loved the Garden of the Gods for fitness, too!)! We did not see any wildlife on our hike (snowed and rained on us !), and we wondered if it was a warm autumn for you folks. Here in Winston-Salem, NC we've had many more instances of coyotes coming into peoples' property. I think we are sprawling them right out of their habitats...many folks are missing cats or having them return in a dreadful state :(. Our winter has been brutal for the south (the coldest on record...EVER!!!) and it must be tough for the animals. This is a very suburban area and they must be desparate to venture into the "human zone".

I live in eastern canada and it is very warm. I live in the country and there are foxes and coyotes everywhere. I actually had a fox laying on my front steps. :)

I'm in Evergreen and haven't really noticed that many extra foxes around. I'd say we see one about once a week? My brother lives in Monument, in Bent Tree. Maybe he's seeing extra foxes, I'll try to remember to ask him.

Hi Nancy! Garden of the Gods is such a beautiful place to hike. Glad you enjoyed Colorado!! Geomom- that's cool to hear a relative of a Cathlete lives in Monument- I know where Bent Tree is- I live in Woodmoor! Tell him 'hi' from a Monument neighbor!
