Losing weight in late pregnancy.

Anyone ever heard of this or experienced it?

A coworker of mine said she lost 8 pounds towards the end of her pregnancy. Her doctor told her this can happen and is totally normal since your stomach has less and less room as your baby grows so some people just can't eat as much as they had been. Well, I heard this and thought-oh yeah, that will NEVER happen to me....and guess what!? Low and behold, I weighed myself this morning and I'm DOWN a few pounds! Woo Hoo! lol Now let's see if it sticks.....

Sounds like that baby is coming soon. The week Alexis was born I dropped a pound. I read somewhere, maybe what to expect, that weight is sometimes lost at the very end.
 
I read about this in one of my pregnancy books! I think it also mentioned a reduction in amniotic fluid?
 
I've heard of that happening, but didn't think it could be as much as 8 pounds! Wow! Nope, it never happened to me. My body has never gone ahead and lost weight on its own.

Yes it happened to me - between week 38 and 39 I lost 3 lbs. Then I delivered at 39wks 3 days. It's not unusual and doesn't mean anything really. I think it's all water weight. Pregnant women retain lots of water some WAY more than others (think very swollen feet) so I could see someone losing 8 lbs but don't think it's the norm.
 
Water retention-UGH! I am dealing with that one right now in the feet and ankles...soooo nasty! Just had to complain! :p lol

Actually though, while I am on the topic....my right ankle actually hurts when I move it certain ways and I think it has something to do with the water retention....anyone ever experience pain or skin sensitivity with water retention??? Just curious...
