Loose Skin

My skin seem to loosen up with each kid, especially on my legs. It makes my fat look fatter. I saw that woman addicted to plastic surgery on Oprah and she was talking about getting a thigh lift. At the time, I was wondering, "What is she talking about" but now I think I understand b/c I can pull the skin on my legs up and they look pretty good. Has this happened to anyone else? I am 38 so age may be playing a role here too. I never had visible cellulite growing up - just solid legs. I have been doing leg workouts like crazy but the fat is still there. Ugh.

As a mother of 3, I can certainly relate! What has proven successful for me and many others I've dealt with is consistent cardio, intense total body weight training, and patience. With each child, it took me a little longer to get back to normal(19 months with the last one), but it truely works!

The more you strength train, the more you improve the integrity of your connective tissues (muscle, tendons, ligaments and even skin). This translates to a tighter physique all over. As a personal trainer, I've seen this work time and time again. Even with my gastric by pass clients. They end up with much less redundant skin when they weight train hard, hydrate well, eat right and do plenty of cardio. Lucky for us, Cathe has our backs when it comes to the exercise stuff! Now just make sure your nutrition is good and you're well on your way!

What also helps is if you take Amino Acids before you work out. I've been doing it and my skin is tightening up quickly. I have 2 kids as well so I know what you're talking about. Do strength training and cardio. Step aerobics works wonders for me. If you are not pregnant, or breastfeeding, I'd recommend amino acids of some sort to help. They are safe to use, too. I use Amino Vital myself.
