Looks like I'm following the trend

Today is my due date and nothing! I've noticed that many of the people who were pregnant recently went overdue and ended up with a c-section. :-( I'm attempting a vbac, so I am not a candidate for induction. It's looking more and more like a c-section for me too. :-( I am at least dialating, 4 cm. at my last appointment. For the past week I start having pretty consistent contractions (from 1-4hrs) then they just stop. What is up with that? I'm starting to get depressed. ;(

good luck to you. My second child was a pretty straightforward VBAC- she was 5 days overdue. You sound well on your way, a lot further than I was at 40 weeks with her.

Hang in there, Marsha. As one of the trendsetters, I can relate. Some experts say that the average gestation is 41 weeks, so maybe we're not all as late as we think. Still, I think I know how you feel. I know about the contractions that are strong and consistent and then just stop. They are frustrating. I had a whole night of them from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.--three minutes apart--and then they just stopped. Then I ended up with gas from hell for the next 6 hours, so I couldn't even sleep. Then the contractions started again for a whole other day. Still, I think if your labor is just slow, you can go for the VBAC. My water had been broken for 30 hours, so the doctor wanted to hasten things along. I'm praying for you. I know how tough it is when it's drawn out--as does Steph and Fitnurse. But in the end, we are all holding beautiful babies. It WILL happen. And wow, you're dilated to a 4 already!

Keep us posted. We'll assume if we don't hear from you for a while that the child has arrived.

Thanks girls! I think I am just freaking out since I've never been overdue before, and the whole vbac thing is starting to scare me. I wasn't bothered by it before, but I'm having flashbacks to my last birth (the 2 day labor induction, getting to 10 cm. dilated, pushing and the baby getting stuck resulting in a c-section). I am really starting to think about an elective c-section at this point. I think the surgery schedule is booked, so I'll have to see.

Hi,

I'm not pregnant, but just wanted to offer some encouragement! I had two csections, tried the VBAC but it didn't work out. I wanted to just say I tried my best and the second time around was SOOOO different, from start to finish and I was satisfied with my all out attempt.

You never know how it will work out or how this labor will start or how long it will last.

Best of luck!!
Mary

I was 2 weeks and 2 days overdue when I was finally induced. She came without c-section, though it was looking like we were heading down that road. I wish you the very best and from the sounds of it..you are on your way!!

I also wish you luck. Every pregnancy stands alone and they are all so different so dont give up hope yet. If that was the case i dont think i would ever have another child again if my next pregnancy could be like my first. I can also understand how fustrating it is but you will have that baby soon enough. Sending you lots of true labor vibes

Marsha,

I'm sure things can still go as you've planned. Hang in there and I'll also send you some natural birthing vibes. You can definitely buck the trend, I know you've been doing all kinds of work with hypnobabies so I'm sure your baby and body can cooperate and create the outcome you've visualized for so many months. It can happen!

Thinking of you and supporting you in thought and prayer, :)

Steph
