Looking For a Good Barbell Pad

Miss Lee

Cathlete
Hi all!

I have the Troy Lite Barbell and I love it. Can anyone recommend a pad that will fit this barbell? I've been using a towel but that's just not getting the job done.

TIA

:)

Michelle,

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I use one of those "noodles" that you get at Wal-Mart for swimming with. They have a hole in the center, it's cheap and works really well. Although, I'm not sure if they would work with all barbells, like the threaded kind. If you really want one of the actual pads, I imagine a sporting goods store would carry them.

>I found my barbell pad at Warmart.

LOL!! Katherine, I don't know if that was intentional or a spelling error, but it's so true, at least at the store around here.

Thanks ladies. I wasn't sure if the standard pads fit the Troy Lite Barbell but I guess they will, right?

I don't know what style the Troy Lite is, but I have pipe insulation for my straight barbell. Works perfectly and very cheap.

Catherine, actually mine is very thick too. What's wrong with it being thick? Doesn't it provide more protection?

Thanks Everybody! Nancy, that pad looks nice. I think I'm going to see if they have it in a store around here--if not, I'll order it.:)

I just bought plumbing pipe insulation at Home Depot and duct taped it closed around the bar! I know it was pretty cheap.

Michele, I got home and looked at my barbell pad that I got for the Troy Lite. It doesn't have a brand name at all. It was sold by Fitness1st, but they no longer carry it. It's about 14.5" inches long, but I think a 16" pad should be fine.

I didn't even notice it. What ARE my fingers doing while my mind isn't paying attention?

Hmmm. I may have to try out something like this.
I am looking for a long(er) one for Hip Thrusts. I don't use one for anything else, but my hips/pelvis doesn't like the bare barbell too much. If anyone can suggest a longer one to me, I'd greatly appreciate it. I am looking at this one now, but I thought it was costly for me. (comes to 45 Cdn with shipping) http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Harbinger-Er...200347?hash=item542530aedb:g:WEIAAOSwNgxWDxvt
Looks pretty functional however.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Elsie,

What has worked the best while hip thrusting, for me, is folding my mat as illustrated
in video below. My barbell pad does not stay in place while executing the move so I always use my mat.
HTH:)

From 5:40 minutes

Another vote for pipe insulation, It's not too thick, not too thin, stays in place. It works perfectly for me. I guess you have to find what works best for your body and comfort level.
