Longer recoveries in GS anyone?

After doing GS upperbodies for a few times I realized that for best results I need to make the recoveries a bit longer, altogether 45 - 60 sec. In that way I can use heavy weights with good form much easier than with the only 15 sec recoveries. Even the 20 lb concentration curls! Anybody else on this? Mari

I noticed that the timesaver premixes cut the recoveries short. I like the recovery time on the regular workout, about like MIS I think. The premixes seem more endurance oriented. Sometimes I do need to pause for longer recoveries.

I definitely take longer breaks when I feel I need them (like after the first set of slow lunges!). I'm trying to work as heavy as I can, and I need more time to recover so that my next set can be as intense as I want it to be. I was rather surprised that a series of workouts called "Gym Style" didn't have longer recovery periods built in.

Don't be afraid to press pause, or rewind (that's usually what I do).

Hi Mari! Absolutely I'm w/you on this one. The 15 sec. recovery time is NOT enough for me any way so I've been pausing & giving my arms the rest that it needs. I see no point in going lickety split speed when you only have to either shorten your reps or lighten your weight. It makes no sense to me. Do what works best for you. Kathy:D

True. Since I've been using the pause button more I truly love this wo and see more result. Actually I did both of the upperbody dvds yesterday -- it took me almost 2 hours -- but I felt just so good after that. I used heavy weights, sometimes heavier than Cathe (with back and biceps) but with definitely longer breaks. Enjoy the day, girls! Mari
