Locked locks?

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find locks that are locked and have no keys. Any suggestions where I can find some? I use them as puzzles for my 57 year old mind. It's a hobby of mine, and keeps me in check. Any lock type will do. Combination, warded, pin tumblers, wafer locks, tubular locks or lever locks.

LOL Janie! are you trying to start another career? hee hee! I just have to ask, how do you possibly get them open without keys? ;) You certainly do have a wide variety of interests! Painting, knitting, exercising and lock-picking! guess I won't knock it (or should I say LOCK-IT) until I try it! ;)

Janie: I may have one or two around. Are you in any hurry to get them? If I come accross any, I'll remember you. (Is this a hobby you intend to have for a while?)

Dani/Gayle, There is more to me than meets the eye. I am a person with many interests, just not a person with one passion.

With lots of practice and patience it is very possible to open these locks, and you can open a lot of locks with just a hairpin and a paper clip. You use the hairpin as the torque/tension wrench (a tool to apply a rotational force on the plug) and the hairpin to try and get at the pins (cylinder shaped metal that fits inside a lock). A plug is a portion of the lock that rotates when the key is turned. You can manipulate the pins and raise them to a certain height and unlock the lock. It is easier to have picks around though.

My Joey (hubby) has books of puzzles that he enjoys to solve (he uses ink). I have my locks as my puzzles that I enjoy (I use picks). It's great fun and challenging for my brain to open them.

Kathryn, I would love to get your unwanted locks. I am in no hurry, but can't wait for another puzzle to solve. I've been picking locks for many years now and will continue with this hobby for a long time to come. It preoccupies my mind, like meditating in a way. Does that make since? Let me know when I can give you my address. This is great, thank you.

Amazing! I would never have thought about it that way! :) I'll keep my eyes peeled and let you know if I run across any! Thanks for taking the time to respond. Guess if we get back to Washington and I lock myself out of my house or truck I'll know who to call, and it won't be Ghostbusters!

kudos to you for your many talents!

Janie-wow. I love puzzles too, but never thought of a lock as a puzzle before. Glad I asked! Good luck and enjoy!

Gayle

Very Interesting!! I would not have patience for that. I have come across some combination locks where I forgot the combo and I just get frustrated trying to figure it.
