<-- had a big scare at the dog park today, will stop OAL talk for that
I took the dogs to the dog park and this guy with his 6-year old son and his pitbull comes in. That dog made me feel a little uneasy. He kept him on a leash, the dog already went ballistic on any dog strolling by and then the guy came over and said "I am taking my dog off the leash now but I want you to know, he is only 15 months old, he would never bite anyone and I am a dog handler." All I could think, was, "oh crap".
It all went so fast, I couldn't even say anything, the pit goes off the leash and in a split second went after my dog Scooter who had been chasing a ball, and it was ugly, I was REALLY afraid! I started running towards them, before I even came close, Tuxedo and Pepper raced there and they "took out" the pit, I mean, my 35 lbs dogs jumped the 70 lbs dog, rolled him over, grabed him by the neck and pinned him down. They didn't bite or drew blood, but they had him, held him down and didn't let him go.
The guy started cursing at me to control my dogs. I saw Scooter bleeding and I totally lost it, screamed at him, "WTH are you talking about, YOUR dog went after my dog and if my dogs hadn't interfered, your dog would have killed my dog! They didn't do a fricken thing to your dog, they just held him down. For crying out loud, if you are a dog handler, I am Heidi Klum".
I was kneeling next to Scooter who was bleeding and yelping, next thing I know everyone in the dog park came over, yelling at the guy. One guy, who happens to be a vet checked out Scooter and said he is ok, it was just puncture wounds but nothing that needed stitching. All over sudden I had a whole bunch of business cards, names and phone numbers from people who said, if I had any trouble to give them a call, they had seen what happened.
I am still a little shaken up and whereas I don't want my dogs to attack, I am just soooo glad they got there in time, because otherwise, I am convinced I would have a serverely injured or dead dog by now.
<-- apologizes for being so long-winded and self-absorbed
<-- is still terrified
<-- wishes everyone a terrific day and apologizes again
