But the 'hug' is something that some 1/2 sleeping kitties do even if there's nothing to hug. I've seen my cat Pete do it several times, and since there's no kitten to hug, he ends up hugging his own head!
To me, it looked like the kitten was restless in his dreams and Mom just gave him a hug to settle him down. My alpha cat, Seville, takes care of his younger brother Madrid in ways like that too.
