Limecat's Hump Day Humdinger

Good morning everyone!

Okay, tell us all about your perfect dream day. Where you'd go, what you'd do, food, the whole nine yards...

And now, tell us about a REAL perfect day. One that is full of fond memories and that you still talk about, even if it happened years ago.

My REAL perfect day would be my wedding day. It was truly perfect.
My dream perfect day would be going to Paris with my hubby and just walking along and seeing all the sights. As for food? Anything I want while I am there and no guilt about any of the calories or fat and lots of wine!

Dream perfect day .. on the beach in Hawaii .. with the perfect body .. w/DH w/his hot perfect body .. watching the sunset w/all the glorious food that of course would not affect the bodies at all .. w/tropical drinks flowing .. again not affecting the bodies at all .. (due to the sensitive nature of the rest of the perfect day I will let you use your imagination)

.. perfect day .. have had lots .. but 2 stand out in my mind .. the day I caught my HUGE grouper on the perfect sea w/our buds ... and our 20th anniversary in Los Cabos when DH and I finally relaxed and did nothing and enjoyed it!!

My REAL perfect day is kind of weird. DH and I were working in the backyard(raking, pruning trees and hedges, putting down mulch), and we were talking and laughing and we'd stop and hug and kiss each other. Later, after we'd cleaned up, we had a simple dinner with wine on a little make-shift patio we'd made under our crape myrtle tree. This was years ago, and if I went up to him now, and asked what was one of the best days we've ever had, DH would remember. It was a feeling that we just connected in some amazing way...and it came out of nowhere. We've been to Venice and Florence and taken nice trips to the beach and the mountains and small towns since then, and had extraordinary times. But there was just something about that day. We're still kind of in awe of it.

I have ideas for the perfect day, but, I think I'll just wait for that unexpected perfect-day surprise again.

Perfect DREAM day

My dream day would be to spend the entire day/night with my best friend who also happens to be my husband. The day would start pre-dawn with a flight in our private jet to Wrangell, Alaska. We would land and be taken to our small cabin by the sea. We would then have fun (wink, wink). After said "fun", we would get a lift to our private yacht where we would spend the day fishing and relaxing. After fishing we would have a lovely dinner consisting of local favorites and the fish we caught. Towards the end of the day, we would retire to our cabin to have more "fun" in front of a fire on the floor covered with comfy pillows. THE END

Perfect day

It is hard to pick out ONE day wish stands out for me. I guess our wedding day was fun back on Valentine's Day 1993. We were married on a dock in Paxtuxent River, Maryland. It was a clear cold day but all of the love in the air made it warm and toasty. So many things happened that day, but the one thing that stands out in my mind is the way we looked at each other when our vows were finished. It was a priceless moment. I knew that at that moment I was the luckiest woman on earth and I feel the same today.

Hmmmm OK here goes. Setting must be tropical, preferably Antigua:

I'd start out early in the morning w/a live class w/Cathe.

I'd proceed to a spa for facial, massage & body wrap.

I'd then proceed to the beach where some buff waiter who uncannily resembles George Clooney is at my service for the day.

I'd then proceed to a shower & a sauna.

Then I'd get dolled up for dinner where Mr. Fake (or real, I'm not picky ;-) ) George Clooney is once again at my service.

I'll leave the rest of the evening to your imagination......

Definately the day we spent on a beach at Tortola while on our honeymoon! We had it practically to ourselves - except for the nice man in the hut who served us cocktails and yummy island favorites. The weather was beautiful and the scenery unbelieveable! Even though it was 12 years ago, I remember it like it was yesterday.

It was perfect - but if I had to do it over, I'd definately add some spa treatments to the day!!

Ahhhh, tropical beaches, warm island breezes, fresh seafood. The perfect day would be spent on Waterlemon Beach on St John Island, with my DH and no one else. We would hike in, spend the day sunning, snorkeling and reading. Maybe take a hike up to the Danish Ruins. We all know what can happen at the Danish Ruins. Return to Cruz Bay and have dinner at the Lime Inn that evening, where Rich, the owner, would have some time to chat and give us a nice bottle of champagne as a gift.

Probably the perfect day I've already had, which is nothing like this one, is the day I had my daughter. We already had one child, our son who had a birth defect that we had no name for yet. The second pregnancy was nothing like the first, but I was still worried about the outcome. But she came, in record time, and was perfect. I'll never forget the feeling of euphoria immediately after the delivery, while she nursed. I've never had quite the same high.

TeTe, thanks for sharing your perfect day with DH. I love that story!:D I think it's brilliant that your perfect day was a; seemingly, ordinary one made extraordinary by connection and appreciation. Beautiful!

Robin, you choked me up:)

I can't say what my speculatively perfect day would be, perhaps a beach, perhaps skiing. I have 3 girlfriends that I've known since high school and when we are together I am not a daughter or a mother or any other of the hats I wear, I am just Laurie and I love the feeling of being with them. Whatever my perfect day is, they are with me.

A perfect day that we recently talked about was 2 summers ago with my 3 daughters at my Uncle's cottage in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec. I did some yoga on the dock then cousins and other relatives started arriving. My Uncle peeled and cut 10 lbs. of potatoes and proceeded to fry them outside in a witches cauldron, it was just such a neat thing and the most delicious fries I've ever had. The day was relaxed and easy, we swam, ate, visited, ate, boated, ate, swam some more and then we ate. The evening ended with a roaring bonfire of cedars that sizzled and lit up in purples and pinks. We sang old French songs and silly English songs and had a completely delightful and light hearted day. :)

Thanks Shelley, that was lovely to remember.:)

Take Care
Laurie

My perfect day would be to get up really early somewhere in Colorado with DH. Climb a 14,000 foot peak and come down to a shower, jacuzzi and an incredible meal with a fabulous wine to watch the sun set.

One of my best days - two come to mind - in Switzerland with DH - doing a bit of Inn-to-Inn hiking through the Jungfrau region (Eiger, Jungfrau, Monche mountains). We stumbled upon a very remote hostel (they are all over Switzerland) and had a wonderful meal of potatoes and schnitzel with excellent beer. While we were sitting there eating, a man brought his cows down the path - all sparkly clean with beautiful bells. It was like being back in time. The sky was so blue and the Alps so gorgeous. Although the helicopter choppering supplies to the hostel that we ran into on the way back kind of broke the "back in time" thing. Then seeing the view from our hotel balconey that evening - sighs in pleasure.

Another was just Sunday - I went to see Camelot, the Broadway Show, with DD14. It was a wonderful play followed by a nice early dinner. We both really enjoyed the day. We don't often get an entire day to ourselves like that. Of course we love our kids, but when we can get a chance to spend time like that with them and realize that we LIKE them, too, and they're turning into intelligent, beautiful people - that's soo special.
