Life after the flu: when do you start working out?

Hi, all:
I came down with the flu last Thursday and while I'm FINALLY starting to feel better, I still have cough/stuffy nose/sneezing and my energy level is probably at 75%. I was working out twice a day (weights in a.m. and cardio in p.m.) before I got sick and I'd like to get back to working out just once a day for now. My question is, when you've been sick, when do you resume your workouts? Do you wait until you're completely better? Do you start slowly? I'd love to hear how and when you've resumed your workouts.

Thanks!

I like to start with light cardio to see how my energy level is. Since I usually haven't eaten my normal meals I find I am about 50 - 75% when working out and just adjust.

Usually only takes a few days for me to get back to a normal routine once I have started. And during those days I try to get my normal eats back in order too.

Hope it goes well for you.

Takes me just a few days, too. I try to eat a lot more than usual and drink tons of water. I am glad to hear you are feeling better and I am sorry that you got sick. (((((hugs)))))

I'm another who starts back slow, light cardio, then a lighter than normal wt day. After a couple-few days of light work then my body starts craving the workouts its used to and I hop back in full swing. Normally by then my appetite is back, so I have the energy as well.

Nan

I do when I feel like I can breathe comfortably. I usually work out through head colds and just breathe through my mouth. But if it's been in my chest, I'll go back to cardio when it doesn't "burn" for me to huff and puff.
I'll usually do weights.

Short answer, for me, I usually workout through being sick, unless I'm throwing up.
I always find it helps me get over it quicker.
