Oh my gosh, a fellow puckhead! How awesome! So far only my honey is a fan, none of my friends are, and even he isn't as into as I am.
I am from Chicago, and if we ever got games on cable out here from that division I'd watch the Hawks all the time. I never went to a single game when I lived there, I only discovered the awesome sport last year. But I've more than made up for it, I'm totally hooked.
I do love the Kings, hate the Ducks (crosstown rivals, like being a Cubby fan over the Sox, since I grew up in Lakeview) and am actually a huge Dallas Stars fan. That's because of Ed Belfour. He's my favorite player in the world, bizarre behavior notwithstanding. He's brilliant and he's competitive and Chicago was stupid to trade him. But it worked out great for him, the Hawks don't look to be Cup bound before he retires. I'm a big goalie nut, I'm fascinated by that position. I'd like to learn to skate just to I can take some hockey clinics and maybe play in a casual league or something.
Where in Chicago do you live? I was just back there in October for a funeral, I wish it had been a pleasure visit. But LA is home now. It will be 2 years this March since we moved. Obviously, the weather rocks.
So, you'll be watching the Hawks on Friday! How cool. Where do you sit? We got tix for several Kings games in the nosebleeds, but they are still good seats, mid ice. And about 5 or 6 times per season we get his boss' luxury skybox because he isn't into hockey. Now THAT'S a way to watch a game. Very swanky.
Jeez, sorry I'v rambled so much. Obviously I am desperate for someone to talk hockey with. You're probably thinking "Good God woman, take a chill pill!" I shall.
Feel free to email if you'd like to get more pen-pally. I should be going home to visit this summer or spring and maybe we could even grab a really fattening burger or pizza! Man, I miss Chicago pizza.
Ciao for now!
