Marcy~ how was your workout today?

I signed up for fitday.com and i'm using that to track my eating. I was so surprised at all the carbs I eat. Even though I eat "clean" I still endup eating way more carbs than protein. I am trying to shoot for 2000 or lower for calories and a 40/30/30 split for protein/carbs/fats. so far today I have 11% protein and 82% carbs!! All I've had was dates pre workout and crunch cereal and an orange for bfast! not sure I want to think so hard about what I'm eating!!LOL My brother is doing it too so atleast we can talk about it. My brother is one of those people who love to research stuff when they are doing it, so I'm hoping to learn more about what to eat. Last night we were on the phone for an hour and I never realized how much carbs my "high protein" foods had. (i.e.- my greek yogurt - all natural and clean ingredients- has 14g protein and 20g carbs!!! ) and here I thought I was upping my protein! Also the cottage cheese doubles were 11g protein and 17g carbs (again thought I was upping my protein) also, being a vegetarian doesn't help because I can't just eat a chicken breast for lunch with veggies. The morning star farms products are mildly better with the protein/carbs ratio but they have "chemicals" in them and aren't as clean!!! A little frustrating! Thanks for listening to my rant.... Any suggestions are welcome. I'm sure after the first week, I'll be able to navigate a little better.

I got out a little early today! Yeah!:D
This morning I ran and then decided just to do 4ds BC instead of BC/KB. Can you believe that I cut short my cardio wokrout??;) I also LUV 4ds BC/KB, in fact I LUV all of the 4ds cardio!!:D
We had homework today at the new teacher mtg to bring 3 items (personal) to share with everyone about your personality/interests. And guess what one of mine was??? My signed copy of 4ds !! So I got to explain my obsession with Cathe, working out with her everyday in my home and going to the RT.:eek: Nobody looked at me like I was completely nuts, so that was good.

Deanie~Interesting to learn more about the % of carbs, protein, fats you are eating. You and your brother sound close. Great that you are able to talk to him about it. Lunch has been provided for us everyday at the teacher mtgs, so I have no choice in what I am eating. I can't be rude and not eat what I am served. It's been sandwiches on white bread, chips, cookies, etc!!:confused:

Good Afternoon Ladies!

This morning I did B&G Premix #2 (65 mins. Overall Legs). Another great one! Got through it all but it was tough. Especially having to do the floor combo twice!:mad::eek: I was so glad for the stretch! I also did MM abs. I think part of my problem with cardio was that I wasn't doing enough of it for quite a while but I'm getting my strength back, my breathing's better and I love it. Since I've moved, it's been harder to keep the weight off, although I have kept off at least 2# since moving. I'm sure once I get back to work and I'm on a regular schedule, it will get easier.

Deanie - Have a great time in Cooperstown. I went when I was about 9 so I don't remember much but I'm sure you will all have a great time. I've heard of Fit Day but haven't been on it. I used to go to fitwatch.com when I was journaling what I ate to find out exact nutrients (it was really good at this). There is also Spark People which is for free. I also eat a lot more carbs than protein and I'm trying to fit more protein in. I always wind up eating a ton of egg whites!

Some protein suggestions:

Low-fat string cheese - 8 grams protein
Egg Whites - I think it's 5g per egg white
Almonds - 7 grams and good source of fats
(I don't know if you're total vegan but if you're not, tuna fish)
Soy, tofu, veggie burger
Protein shake
I also found Arnold Double Protein bread - 6g per slice.

When I was really losing weight, I think I did the best with 50/30/20. The hardest thing for me is giving up ice cream although I found Breyer's Double Churn with no fat and it's really good.

I've been watching the Olympics - mainly swimming (the 400 IM with Michael Phelps was awesome to watch), synchronized diving and gymnastics (my favorite).

Yesterday DH and I had pedicures and massages. The massage was so great - I needed a deep tissue massage badly.

Gin - I'm glad you had a good first day. I guess everyone can't get along with everyone else but I also try and do a pretty good job of it. It's nice to hear no one thought you were nuts about your Cathe/fitness obsession. Too bad about the lack of good food at the meetings. At least they're not an everyday thing.

Dancing last night was great. We learned the shag - it's kind of a smooth east coast swing. Lots of fun.

Marcy~ I think we were posting at the same time!:) Yes, that B&G premix is hard! I'm sure once you are in a routine you'll be able to workout and eat well again. Thanks for the suggestions. I made some hard boiled eggs this morning, but there's only so much I can eat!;) I like the almond suggestion too. I had a boca burger for lunch and that was better with the carbs, but it may be harder than I thought as a vegetarian. I do eat fish, but only 2X a week. The shag sounds fun- did your DH come with you?

Gin~ I'm glad you're enjoying work so far, and no one laughed about your Cathe obsession! LOL!! They probably saw how hot your bod was and are now home logging on to The Cathe Nation. com!!:eek:
 
Hi Again!

Deanie - No DH didn't come with me but between the podiatrist and the pedicure his feet are feeling a lot better so maybe Sat he might come with me. It turns out he has arthritis in his toe which would explain the pain he has. Sat is Night Club 2 which is a nice slow one so we'll see.

When are you leaving for Cooperstown?

Marcy~Not sure I've ever seen the Shag dance. Glad you enjoyed. B&G Overall Legs is tough stuff. Maybe I should just say that ALL of Cathe's workouts are considered tough stuff!! I have been watching the Olympics, but sad that some of the really good stuff is on too late for me.:( Yeah to the massage and pedicure...what a nice treat!:D

Deanie~ Probably when I have been working at this school longer I would bring my own lunch, but not my first week.:eek: You ARE NOT weird!:p Sorry I don't have any good suggestions for more protein in your diet. Marcy gave you some good ones, though. You are so completely wrong about anyone thinking that I have a "hot bod"!! In fact, they were probably thinking, "She works out?? Doesn't look like it!":confused:
 
Marcy~ we aren't going to Cooperstown till next friday. My DS12 did my avitar for me!:eek: My DH and I couldn't figure it out:confused::eek:!! It has something to do with choosing user CP and then go to edit avitar, but DS shrunk my picture so I could use it. Hope your DH will be with you on Sat!:)
