Lent

I'm with jackie7. Last year, our priest made a point that Lent is about making positive changes in our lives and sticking with it after Lent is over. Giving up soda pop and then having a pack of Diet Coke ready once Lent is over is kinda pointless. The hard part is thinking of something to do!

But I am going to start the Beck Diet, which is six weeks and fits the timing for Lent, we'll see how that goes. :p

Nope, not giving anything up. I was never one to do the Lent thing (except when I was at home - Catholic fam) or the New Years Resolution. I always figure when I make up my mind to do something, I'll pick my own day and start then. Seems to work better for me.

On a side Lent note - has anyone else heard the numerous McD's commercials for the Double Fish sandwich w/ tarter sauce on a steamed bun. **Hork, Yack, Gag** I heard it like 3 times today. Makes my stomach turn just listening to it.

>Michele - you ALWAYS give up cardio! Pick something else.
>;-)

Oooooooh...but I like giving up cardio.

Alright! I'll think of something else -- sheesh! :p

I don't 'cause I'm not religious and would never even know when lent started. However one year I overheard a male colleague, who everyone knew was having an affair with a married woman (a supervisor), say he was giving up diet coke for lent. I was just dying to say "Maybe you should give up the adulterous affair instead"! I mean come on does he think God is an idiot?

I quit smoking 4 years ago this March.

To me, that makes up for giving up things for Lent for the rest of my life so no, I'm not giving anything up this year!:p

Congratulations, Wendy! That is HUGE! I'm so proud of you. And like you said, that makes up for giving up things for Lent forever!

Thanks Allison!:)
It really was the HARDEST thing I've ever done and thought more then once about giving up but once I knew I had finally conquered the cravings I was soooo happy that I didn't give up.
