okay, i don't mean to be really nit picky or vain, but i am having issues. i now have saddlebags forming! i exercise every day, do plenty of strength and cardio, and am not gaining way too much weight (maybe a little more than i'd like). how did these just form? has this happened to anyone else? and is there anything to do about it?

My guess is that it's not a result of you gaining too much weight, or not exercising enough, but from all the hormonal changes that pregnancy brings. Hormones play a role in where our body deposits fat, which is why women are curvy and men are not. We have different hormonal cocktails. Now that you're pregnant, your hormonal situation is encouraging your body to store some energy in the thighs and butt. I don't think you can avoid this, but you can be assured that once you are no longer pregnant (and nursing, if that's what you choose), you will find your body going back to its previous shape.

Cheers,
Sandra

Morris, my guess is you were thin to begin with so your body needs the extra fat. I am sure with your workouts you have not gained excess weight. I noticed some weight gain in my legs but I donot feel its jiggly. I know you run alot but I forget how much weight work you do. I have been alternating cardio days with body toning days. I did the same with my first pregnancy and didn't have any residual effects after I lost the preggo weight. I really feel the key is to keep up with the lower body toning.

thanks for the input.

i feel better today - my dh got home after a few months absence. we were so happy to see him! anyways, he didn't deem to really noticemuch change with my body (other than bigger boobs). so, i guess we are always hardest on ourselves.

i am definaetly keeping up with the strength work, even if it is just 25 min worth.

Morris, I looked at your workouts and think you are doing enough strength work. Yes, we are hardest on ourselves and must realize we need to temporarily say good bye to our figures. My hubby like yours, seems to ignore the weight gain and eyes go to the boobs!
