Learned my lesson

I have always been active in sports. I considered myself in excellent condition. I always made coments on how the excercise classes were for wimps, at the local health club I attended.

I made a remark to an instructor that she looked really fit but wasn't really that strong. She laughed and invited me to join her pump class. She said that the class used weights, so you would feel like your in a wimp class. I said why not. I worked out with weights for years. No problem.

I went to the class. The instructor let the class know I was in there. I looked at the weights that she was going to use in the class. I thought I would match her weighs. I am 6'2" and weigh 220lbs. Working out with a 40lb barbell and 5, 10, and 20lbs dumbells would be no problem. Was I in for a surprise.

She and several of the ladies put me to shame. I couldn't keep up. When we did curls the instructor arms went from a medium arm to a muscle popping cut arm. I was amazed. She was strong. When I was too tired to continue, she kept on going.

I learned a valuable lesson that day. I was sore, tired and defeated. I will never again make fun of excercise classes. I now take a class on a regular basis.

Those classes are killer!!

I dont think anyone goes into such a class for the first time without getting their tush kicked one way or another!

(i couldnt walk for two weeks after my first class like that and i thought i was in great shape before i went in too )

Have fun ... you will love it when it gets easier.....but it never gets easy...only a little easier. :)

Don't worry Tony. My brother (who is about the same size as you said the same thing. I teach those kind of classes and went over to his house to do a session with him. He hasn't said a word since. When I first started teaching them, I thought I was going to DIE!! But it's been a couple of years now, and as Cinza said it does get easier. You probably focused my on strenth and while these classes do help with that, muscular endurance is really what will improve the most! Kepp pumping!!
