Lazy Load

Cathlete
Hi all:

Well this morning I decided to take the day off from exercise (fridays are usually light weights and cardio) because I have been feeling tired the last few days, and still also had some soreness from Wednesday's workout.

Now, a few hours later I am feeling like a lazy load and beating myself up mentally for not working out. I don't have time now because I am going to an "Awesome Eighties" party tonight and have to travel to get there, so I need to leave soon.

Man, I hate this guilty feeling. I know it's good to take time off. I also know logically that I am not going to wake up tomorrow and be fifty pounds heavier and flabby, what can't I know that emotionally!? :-(

Anyone else go through this?

I didn't work out last night. It was my first rest day in probably 20 or so days. I feel like a sloth today. A big, fat, lazy sloth. I even thought of working out twice today to make up for it.

So, yes, I feel this way:)

I go through that too. I think it's pretty common in a dedicated exerciser...

But it sounds like you might be doing some dancing tonight so you can get your cardio in then! ;)

Have fun at the party!

I think I may be getting old enough to need more recovery time, although I am fighting it like a trooper. So, sometimes I am just so darn sore, I take a day off. I feel terrible about it, but it may just be necessary. Or I go swimming. If I swim a mile, I consider it a cardio.

Yesterday I skipped the cardio because my knees were feeling kinda funny, nothing bad really, just more of a tired feeling from the increased cardio I've been doing. And today I'm going to skip cardio again because I want to save my knees for L&G, especially now that my legs are rested and ready to go. I'm feeling a bit guilty but at the same time, I know it's for the best. I do think, if only my grandma and mom didn't pass on their knees to me..., but they did and there's nothing more I can do but work around it.:)

Shelley...LOL...I thought I was the only one who did the "I can exercise TWICE today to make up for yesterday" thing. :)

Wendy...I hadn't thought of that...I will be wang-chunging tonight and that should burn up some calories. Now, if only I wasn't wearing 80s stretch pants! My husband assures me my behind is stretch pants-worthy but I may have to squeeze in a few lunges and squats right before the party!! :p
