Has anyone had this doc for lasik and if so, how was it? Are you pleased with the results? Were you pleased with his office/team?

TIA

My brother and SIL just had this done in Tampa, but I don't think that was who they used, though I think he said that that guy is the biggie in the area. Do you want me to ask him who he used or have you already settled and are just trying to get extra comfortable with Updegraaf? I just asked him about this a few days ago.

I'd be interested to know who he used and if possible, what they paid (I hope this isn't too rude). This guy is quoting $2599/eye. He'll give 10% discount for cash but WOW! But then again, it is my eyes and I will be willing to pay it.

Thank you!

Yeah, I will ask which doc. I already asked hime price and I think he said it was around 2 grand an eye, maybe a bit less. Less than Updegraaf. But hardly inexpensive. His insurance covered part/most of it.

I know one of the Docs here in West Palm charges around 23 per eye. I believe he was one of the pioneers in the field and I know Tiger Woods used him. That is where I would like to go. My hopefully soon to be ex husband thinks I should go to the 300 dollar per eye center. Granted, I may not need the Tiger Woods doc, but I don't want to go to the Dollar Store doc either...but I digress...

What kinds of questions do you ask when you evaluate your choice? Experience? Numbers of procedures? Type of equipment? Cutting edge technology? Its hard to know where to start.

Funny you should ask...I'm online now researching exactly that. I googled "what to look for in a lasik surgeon" and got some good stuff. I thought if funny that one of the hits that I pulled up quoted Updegraff. He seems to know his stuff. I haven't been able to find anything negative on him which is why I posted here...hoping to find anything/anyone that might have used his services before.

Thanks for the information on price. Up is pricey but, like I said before, they're my eyes.

I was interested in getting my eyes done but chickened out, just too scarry messing with my eyes. Let me know how it goes, I may get the nerve some day, lol.

A friend used him several years ago and was pleased. He does have a reputation for being good and the most expensive, but he can be a bit of a jerk. My doctor used Lewis Groden in Tampa. He said he was as good as Updegraaf and less expensive.

Thank you for passing this guy's name on. I have a consult with him. I like that he's not a "one-price doc" if that makes sense. I'm still doing research on him and unless I find something I don't like, I'll probable go with Groden.

My BIL had this procedure done on both eyes. It has been about 4-5 years. Just recently his vision has been a little blurry. When he went in they told him," Don't you know you have to have it redone after x amount of years"? When I told my husband about what happened to him he said, "No thanks, I'll just deal w/ my contacs". BTW- My BIL went to a Tiger Woods doctor.
