Lack of muscle soreness question

Hello Cathe:

Over the past couple of weeks, I started my exercise regime after taking almost a full year off (personal illness and then death in the family). Anyway, I was very suprised how much my body remembered (or maybe it was all in my head).

Well, my question is this. I ordered your slow and heavy and started doing it a couple of weeks ago, but after the first two weeks, I noticed that I didn't get that good soreness that I usually get when I exercise. I am definitely using my max weight and getting fatigue, so I am just wondering ... am I supposed to feel that good sore after every workout or not? There is so much discussion about this that I am confused. I was always under the assumption that I should feel SOMETHING the next day, but I feel nothing. However, TRUST ME, the day I am doing the exercises, my limbs shake. Just wondering what you think about this and if I might be doing something wrong.

Thanks for all your input Cathe. You are certainly one amazing woman. Also, could you just tell Cedie (sp?) that I think she looks incredible!!! It has been very neat to watch her transformation through your videos, and I think she looks fantastic in the S&H (and after a baby at that!!!). It is certainly great to have her back!!! She was missed.

Blessings to you and your family Cathe!!!

Hi Cynthia! It is okay if you do not feel sore the next day after doing the workouts as long as you gave 100 percent while doing them(which you have). The longer rests between the sets keep the lactic acid from building up in the muscle the way it does in workouts that offer less rest. Lactic acid build up is responsible for much of the muscle soreness.

Do the workouts for three weeks and take a couple of days off. Then when you go back to your more traditional weight lifting workouts, you will most likely find that you can lift heavier weight or that the weight that you were usually using is too light. Good Luck!

I will relay your message to Cedie! I just saw her in passing today and she looked so fit and has a great new "trendy" haircut that looks fantastic on her.

Thanks Cathe:

I'll continue doing what I am doing for one more week (which makes three weeks with the S&H and see what happens.

Thanks again,
Cynthia

Cynthia,
I have the exact same thing happen with the Slow and Heavy series. Even though I work hard and can sometimes barely get out the last rep of a set, I'm not sore the next day. On the other hand, Power Hour leaves me burning!

Hello Robin:

I did disappear for many reasons, some of which I am sure you are aware of. Another reason was that my FIL was very ill with lung cancer, and he died in Feb. Things got, actually let me say ARE, a little crazy, but I found that if I didn't work out, I was going to lose my mind.

I was given the link to the new Firm forum about two days ago, and actually went over and said hello. I really didn't think anyone would even remember me, and lo and behold there were a bunch of old-timers over there, so it was neat to say hello.

Thanks for your kindness. I hope to see ya around!!!

God Bless,
Cynthia
