KPC

Alright...here is my review:

First i would like to say that this workout should come with a warning label to the tune of "IF you have big boobs....BEWARE!" I was all over the place!!!! Right after the warmup, i had to go put on another sports bra....and after five mins of that another one!!!!! Thank God i had done lanudry already!

Secondly, talk about BOOTYQUAKING! on those "fast runs"...everything was.... well, i felt like a giant jello-jiggler. Not pretty! i haven't done those things since i was playing on a church(no snickering!) basketball team at age 9. (which i was kicked off of btw for attacking the ref for fouling me out AGAIN! (snickering allowed here))

Then there was the flailing. The combo where you punch, cross, hook, upper, something, something, duck!....i was really concentrating and suddenly, i realized that my arms were just flying about with no real direction and it was pretty damn funny. sigh

i made it through 42 mins and then i skipped to the abs part which would have been great except for that @#$$%&**!~# song! i will mute next time! is that the theme song to a movie?

Very sweaty...great cardio..i was telling myself the whole time "this is NOT hi/lo!" but my feet said different. i loved Cathe's energy and call me crazy but those blasted pikes are kinda fun (granted i was delerious by that point)

someone please tell me the music is better in L&G, cause that is tomorrow.

jes

LOL!!!!! :7 I don't have any problems with big boobs, so I'm sorry to say I can't identify. :( I do know what you mean about the jello-jiggler thingee. Oh, and very sweaty... I look like my dogs (Shi Tzus) when he comes in from the rain... how do Cathe and crew look so awesome at the end of these workouts????

There is a song in that workout that reminds me of the music from Wyatt Earp... maybe it is? I have not done L&G yet. Lookig forward to your review. :7

LOL! I don't have the boob problem myself. I actually did OK w/the moves b/c I took several years of martial arts, so I found it fun to get back to that stuff.

Having said that, the martial arts form in KPC ain't great, & I guess it really can't be b/c they move so quickly. But it's still a fun workout.

You are so funny! I don't have the big boobs either but I can totally relate to flailing arms and legs. Sometimes I exercise in my bedroom and my bed has the big mirror with lights and dressers on the side. Well, I like to check my form but on KPC I have no form...LOL I looked hilarious. Hang in there. I'm sure we'll get better at it if we try.

Cheers,
Shirley

Oh my Gawd. You just had me smiling here. Ok ... the Enell bra was a must when I had my big boobs (lost them sadly to hubby's dismay...when I lost the weight). I still have it but don't wear it anymore due to it not fitting well anymore. I would seriously recommend into looking at this bra, also title 9 sports has a fantastic rating of dumb bells from 1 dumbbell ( lite support to 4 dumbbells for maxium support) ..I have heard tons about their frog bra - mucho support though a squasher.

Keep having fun with Cathe
;)

Thanks Shywolf...i will need to look into that if i am gonna do this wo regularly(which i am b/c i know of several people who will be on my ass about it!!!) As i lose weight they are shrinking, so if i get lucky, it won't be a problem for very long!!!

You crack me up! O.k., I don't have the big boobs, but I have a hard time looking the Cathe part. My son walks by when I am doing the KPC and says, "mom, you look like a dork". My response was this,..."o.k. so I look like a dork now, but wait until you see me later" I didn't see him jumping in with me to do the "dorky" workout.
The KPC is tough for me to follow as I am not a good listener to begin with so I end up just all other the place with my arms sometimes. Sometimes the music is distracting as well and I wish I just had the Nelly song going in the background instead..."its getting hot in here"...blah, blah, blah.
Sometimes I find myself screaming out at Cathe and calling her "crazy", in a good way of course!
I just finished doing the Super Sets which so far is not so bad, but gotta say the KPC is fun though it is quite challenging.

Jes...so you liked KPC? :7 :+ I am with Autumn in the "Not big boob group"....I remember reading some other posts about soemone doing KPC and they ended up punching themselves in the nose at some point...OMG...had me laughing for days! I do like the abs in KPC. I also think the music in Legs & Glutes is great....:)...Carole

I WISH I HAD 'BIG BOOBS' TO FLING AROUND (sigh!)

but NO! God gave me a BIG ARSE instead.

If only "fat" moved around.........hmmmmmmmm

Marion
:)

LOL! i have the arse too! the point of my post was not big boobs people! it was to give you a visual of how COMPLETELY ridiculous i looked and to say that i got my ass kicked! i will send some fat anyone's way if boobs are desired around here.......i can't donate blood, but fat i can spare!

jes

p.s. Marion, did you see the epsiode of Sex and the City where Samantha has her ass fat (that doesn't exist) injected into her face??? halarious!

:7 Thank you for the funny review. It's been a tough week; I need to laugh.

Let me just tell you that KPC is THE workout that helped me trim my hips. No amount of stepping ever did. I think those side kicks and roundhouse kicks did the trick.

Also, the music in L&G is better.

Lastly, the flailing will turn into actual punches soon enough. Just give the workout -- and yourself -- a chance. When my 7-year-old nephew saw me do KPC, he told me I should audition for a spot in those wrestling shows he loves -- you know, the one with those creepy characters? The vote of confidence was sweet, but I don't savor the idea of being knocked unconscious with a folding chair.:)

Have fun with L&G,
Pinky

Hey Jes, I checked out your pics... the flailing is working... you are beautiful!!! And so are your dogs! And, that is a very handsome man!

Pinky, LOL! Your nephew sounds like a character.

Hi Kung-Pow Jes!

So, do you like it or hate it? I can't really tell from your hilarious description. And yes, if you want to really work your lower body, this is the workout to do. The premixes with LG are the perfect antidote to a mushy lower body. I do think the music in LG is better than KPC, but I like the KPC music, too. There's a bit of higher impact moves in the drill section, but nothing compared to Cardio Kicks. I've never liked the shuffles she always inserts in her kb workouts, but I suffer through them. In KPC they don't seem so bad; I think there might be a little less than her others. When Cathe and the crew do those shuffles in KPC they are so light on their feet that they remind me of cats on a hot tin roof.

So, will you by buying weighted gloves, and when will you be doing the workout again? :) :)

Oh, by the way, KPC Premix #4 is a really, really good intermediate workout. I use it on my "active rest" days. It's the warm up, intermediate drills, and combos 1 + 2. Keep practicing and you will lose that "flailing" feeling.

Another important thing to work on with this workout is keeping your core contracted. I struggle with this all the time, because it's a tough thing to do, but when you are able to do it, the moves become more controlled and your form improves.

Cheers!
Sandra

Yes Sandra.....i will be doing it again(without weighted gloves for at leasta while)but it is not my favorite. i like step better, but i already knew that b/c i have done kickboxing in the past. I mainly bought the dvd for L/G, but it is nice to have kpc for variety. i might have to do it on the carpet though, because my puzzle mats are on tile and they were sliding all over the room and i was on a "magic carpet ride" several times. like i said, i didn't make it the whole way through and i haven't checked out the premixes yet, but i am not worried....i'm sure you will remind me all about them}(

i HATED the music, but after a few mins, i barely noticed it b/c i was trying to keep up...until the abs section....i very loudly said NNNNOOOOO! and then pj fled the room. no one seems to know if that song is from a score of some sort....i know it's at the beginning of all the BB dvds.anyway.....there you have it!

jes

Jes,

LOL at the magic carpet ride, and pj fleeing from the room. My cat high-tails it out of the room the minute I pull out my step. And I also enjoy step much more than kickboxing, but I include it for the crosstraining effects. And if I have to do kickboxing, I'm happy to do KPC.

Yes, the ab music is the score from Jurassic Park, very observant of you. I don't mind it, particularly since I'm focusing very hard on the actual core work. Do you have a stability ball yet, or are you modifying until you get one? (and you know you will!)

Sandra

i have two balls dear one! stability balls that is! the huge one for ab work where you lay on it and pikes..and a slightly smaller one for doing the lifting and turning stuff.....i had them before cathe though for pilates! aren't you proud?! do you recall one of my earliest posts where i stated i had to use the ball pump to blow air in my face??? glad i don't get that winded now!
