Knee/joint-friendly BUT STILL EXTREMELY INTENSE advanced workout

I love love love Cathe's workouts, and have a suggestion. Could Cathe please please please create a seriously intense, extreme, Cathe-style workout or series of workouts that include cardio but are knee-friendly? If I do some of Cathe's cardio workouts and even some of her low-impact ones, for example, those including lots of lunging, it destroys my knees. There seem to be no workout DVDs anywhere that are both INTENSE, GREAT workouts, AND will not kill my knees.

I am definitely an advanced workout sort of person, as I run daily on my excellent treadmill, with excellent running shoes, and have a 20-year history of serious heavy weight training, but when it comes to workout DVDs I am very limited, owing to the heavy use of things like lunges and high impact moves.

My husband is a doctor and he gets frantic with worry when I do some of the bootcamp type workouts with lots of lunges and wildly high impact stuff, and he thinks I should stick to running on my treadmill which somehow doesn't kill my knees, and weight training without lunges, but I would so like to have some knee-friendly HIIT workouts on DVD, and I love love love Cathe's style.

It is quite depressing to find that most workouts for those with delicate knees are completely useless and designed for extremely frail people. I'm not frail, I'm hardcore fit and strong -- I just have delicate knees.

Any chance, Cathe?

Sarahg, I could not agree with you more. I also consider myself "hardcore" when it comes to working out and, like you, I have bad knees.

I love my Cathe workouts; however, have become quite limited on what I can do. Like you, lunges and squats (and leg presses on the chair/high step) are out for me. I hate it because they provide such a great workout; however, I truly believe if anyone can create a series of workouts (strength training and cardio) for people with knee issues, that will provide results, I believe Cathe can.

Please, Cathe, help us.
 
I agree too. I love Cathe's workouts, but I am limited because of the high impact. It is unfortunate b/c you know her programs work - I just cannot do them.
 
ditto!! I couldn't agree more - I have the same problems. Kickboxing and Drill Max is really about it at this point.
