KK's November Check In

Cathlete
Good morning!

Today was the entire HIS DVD, which is a step routine and chest and back workout. Feeling good now. Also got in a good bike ride after work yesterday. Next week, won't be able to do those after work bike rides any more due to the time change :-(

Trip to the conservation prison camp was a good one. The conservation camps are the one positive in the California state prison system. They house 100 inmates (there are 18 camps in the northern system, about as many in the southern), have no walls or fences around them. We joke that these inmates are the "cream of the crap". For inmates to go to camp, they have to have no sex offenses, arson, or escapes in their history. They work in the conjunction with the California Dept. of Forestry (now called (CAL FIRE) doing a lot of the clean up work you see alongside the roads, building fences, cleaning up parks, etc. Their main mission is the inmate fire fighting on the forest fires. It's a very desirable thing for the inmates to get to go to camp as they eat much better, many more privileges, make more $ per hour, more family visits, etc. Anyway, we did a kitchen inspection of a camp that's about 90 miles north of here. Very, very clean and super organized. The food was excellent!

Karen, hoping that today is better for you. Hope you got some well deserved rest. I will be gone to Reno tonite to visit DS and Cass. She and I have a massage and facial tomorrow, then some shopping. Hope you have a good weekend.

Jeanette

Good Evening!:)

Jeanette -- these DVD's sound wonderful -- was asking my DH last night when that care package was going to come... Can't wait to see the workouts. Love hearing about them from you.

Actually did workout today -- it was a FIRM tape with Lisa Kay -- 30 minutes -- light weights and step and cardio -- good workout -- I'll be keeping it light until I'm completely over this, I think. Have been thinking of getting Cathe's lower intensity workouts -- keep thinking I won't need them, as I like the higher intensity -- but they would be perfect for this sort of situation, when I can't workout in full.

That conservation program sounds like a really good one -- I didn't know that we had such a thing in California -- that's great to see that there's a program like that out there. We sure do need more of those guys (and gals, too, I guess) fully rehabilitated, instead of going back to prison time after time.

Have fun with your DS and Cass -- the facials and massage sound wonderful!

I'll be seeing my nutritionalist tomorrow -- but I am feeling better. Just need to get all my strength back. Boy, these bites really take it out of me, it seems.

Have a super day tomorrow and terrific workouts!:7

Happy Weekend!:)

Hope it was great. Well, let's see today--Saturday -- it was a walk -- about a 45min - 1 hr walk and yesterday it was THE FIRM Cardio Scupt with Nancy Tucker -- that's another good workout -- short -- 30 minutes, but it does the trick.

Am doing better (knock on wood) and almost have my energy back -- enough that I've been going out today and haven't tired -- so that's a good thing.

Well, hope you are having a terrific weekend and look forward to hearing from you one next week.:7

Good Evening!:)

Well, am feeling almost back to normal. My hubby sent me a nutrient that he and my brother-in-law used on one of our dogs when she was bit by a rattlesnake -- he remembered that she was over it within 24 hours -- so he sent me the nutrient and after taking it on Friday and Saturday, I really do feel back to normal.

But am still going to take it easy on the workouts and work my way back up to the intensity that I was used to. So I'll probably still stay with the FIRM this week. Today was the FIRM Calorie Killer with Nancy Tucker -- it's one of my favorites an it's short, but slightly intense.

Here's the plan:

Monday -- The FIRM Cardio Sculpt with Lisa Kay

Tuesday -- The FIRM Cardio Sculpt with Nancy Tucker

Wednesday -- The FIRM Body Sculpt with Nancy Tucker

Thurs. -- Walk outside and stretch -- or a Cathe cardio and stretch

Friday -- The FIRM Calorie Killer with Nancy Tucker

Sat. -- The FIRM Cardio Sculpt with Lisa Kay

Sun. -- off

These are good workouts, but pretty easy on me -- and I hope to build back up to speed soon. How were your weekends -- lovely, I hope.

Have a super day and terrific workouts!:7

Good morning,
Today's workout was LowMax, most of the combos anyway for an hour. Think I missed combo 1 is all. Yesterday was Christi Taylor's Totally Cool Step. Saturday was a bike ride and Friday was walking 2 miles with Cass over in Reno. We had a fabulous time at the spa, both of us getting facials and a massage. We plan on doing that again, probably in February. It was wonderful. Saturday was a day of Christmas shopping with girlfriends. Lots of fun. DH and I went out on the Rhino yesterday. Had a very nice relaxing time.

I'm starting a rotation of circuits written by Fitness Freak. Will be playing 9 holes of golf today with the prison priest (getting off a little early from work), then grocery shopping afterwards.

Karen, glad you are feeling better. Smart of you to take it easy. Sounds like you are kicking those nasty spider toxins to the curb. Hope your new Cathe DVD's come soon.

Jeanette

Good Evening!:)

Jeanette, it sounds like you are really kicking up the intensity. The circuit workouts sound good, as well. Especially if put together by Fitness Freak -- she is so good with sort of thing. After readin your post, I suddenly want to go and get a massage, as well.

And Christmas shopping... What fun:) I'm afraid I won't be home for Christmas this year and I'm looking at a year of Christmas shopping with gift cards -- I hate to do it but it looks like this year I might have to -- and hopefully it will be the only year that I'll have to do that.

How did golfing go with the Prison Priest?

Can't wait for more intensity now -- but am keeping it low intensity and not too long still. But at least today I was jumping around -- something I wasn't doing just a few days ago.

Hubby is still getting that care package all together -- he's also having to send me some of my notes and such, as well. Anyway, have a really super, super day and terrific workouts -- keep me informed of the Circuit rotation -- sounds fascinating.

Hi Rhea! Hope you are doing well getting back into things, as well.:7

Good morning,
Yesterday's golf game went okay, had fun with 2 other players. Tonite I believe is the last golf class for the year. Today's workout was The Gauntlet. Good workout, I just had to cut it short at 60 minutes or so. Didn't do one of the cardio sections but got in most of the weight work.

Karen, wow, won't be home for Christmas either. You are one dedicated lady. Bet you will be glad when the class/workshop ends. That's a long one. Hope you are feeling even more improved today.

Jeanette

Good morning!

Just a quick hi.

Karen - not home for Christmas....bummmer. I bet DH comes over to FL and your DD can come down too!

Jeanette - you are so busy, I can't believe how active you are. I haven't had the time to play golf. I think I need about 30 hours in a day, then I can do everything I want. Well, if I could skip work, I would have much more time.

Finally got a workout in yesterday. Did not workout over the weekend. Let my body rest from the stress of trial. I have another trial next week, so I know better than to push too much. Yesterday I ended up doing Fat Blaster from Turbo Jam. Good one to get started with. I thought about doing the new Boot Camp, but got scared away! Today I have a massage, but tomorrow, I might try a bit of the that New Boot Camp, unless it scares me away again. (when Cathe is out of breath, that makes me pause a bit) I do want to get into these workouts and have them in my rotation for about a month. Whip myself into shape and get rid of this excess stuff that has crept up on my over the last two months.

Well, have a great day everyone! Don't work too hard.

Good Evening!:)

So nice to hear from you again, Rhea -- was hoping that all was going well with you. Am also glad that you were able to get in some workouts even though I know you've been really busy. Probably a good idea to rest after all the stress of a trial.

Fat Blaster must have been fun -- and a massage -- both you and Jeanette have had massages lately -- and they are sounding really good to me. Without my DH here, it's been a while since I've had one. And Rhea, in this new Bootcamp, was Cathe actually out of breath. Yeah, that's kind of scary -- of course the anaerobics are supposed to make you out of breath -- so maybe it's okay.

Jeanette -- wow! the Gauntlet -- that's supposed to be a really difficult one. Like you, 60 minutes is all I can afford most usually. That's too bad that this was the last of the golf lessons for this season. Will you still be riding your bike.

Let's see -- tomorrow I'm still doing FIRM workouts -- tomorrow is Body sculpt with Nancy Tucker, I think. As you can see, I'm still taking it a little easy, although I feel pretty much back to normal -- knock on wood.

Yes, Christmas is going to be really odd this year -- but what a great idea, Rhea to try to get my DD down here, as well.

Anyway, have a super day tomorrow and some great workouts.:7

Good morning,
Today was Step Blast, combos 1, 2 and the blast, then SJP abs. After work will be a little grocery shopping and hopefully a little housework or stacking of wood or raking of leaves. Still need to get to those leaves.

Rhea, glad you could check in. Hope things settle down for you. I've enjoyed the golf class. We had our last one last night. I went out well though. Hit a par 3 on the 9th hole!! Surprised myself. The new Bootcamp isn't that hard, bet you could easily do it.

Karen, if Cathe's out of breath it's probably because the sound may be better and the mic picks up everything. I never noticed that she was out of breath. All I can hear is my own! I'll be trying to ride my bike on the weekends and if I get a quieter trainer to hook up to my bike, will do the "Garage Boys" once a week.

Bye,

Jeanette

Good afternoon!

Well, I ran home and did Boot Camp, well most of it. I ended up not doing all the cardio, my endurance really was bad and for some reason my feet and ankles were killing me at the beginning. Then my darn right calf kept cramping. In fact, it is still twitching. I think I need to buckle and get some new shoes. These New Balances that I have, have never really been that comfortable for my feet. I ended up not doing all of some of the drills (like the butt kicks) I also went at a much slower pace on some of the self paced drills (like the suicide runs) But I really like the workout, I just need to get back up to par (and not worry about wearing myself out so I can't function at work when I get back LOL:p )

Well, back to trial prep!! Have a great day everyone.

Good Evening!:)

Let's see it was Body Sculpt for me today with Nancy Tucker -- and it was a good workout. About 40 minutes. Tomorrow, am planning some sort of cardio and stretch. Probably will be my longest workout day.

Rhea -- so glad that you tried Bootcamp anyway, even though you had to modify. You know, my New Balance shoes just didn't do the job for me and so this time, I went with Ryka's. Shopping at Zappos, I think I tried almost every brand of shoe that they had -- thank goodness they were patient with me. But I again settled for Ryka's -- XT3 -- I really need that extra toe room and the support they give me. You deserve an A for effort.

Jeanette -- Love Step Blast and also love SJP -- sounds like a terrific workout. Okay, so you'll still be doing your bike rides. See, I was thinking you actually do two workouts in a day -- one in the morning and then one in the evening -- they are different but are still workouts. So once I'm back up to speed, I think I'll try still doing the two workouts a day. We'll see.

This new book is going kinda hard cause I've never written about this tribe before -- but hopefully I'll get in the swing of it soon.

Have a really super day and great workouts!:7

Morning,
Today was High Step Challenge (one of the premix timesavers). Have you checked out the blog yet? New workouts from Cathe coming, similar to P90X sounds like!!! I'm excited!

Karen, I don't usually do 2 workouts a day, only if I ride my bike in the evening, which hasn't been happening due to the time change and golf class for the past few months. I really don't want to go there at all, or feel like I have to work out longer and longer. Do you think you'll go back to 2 workouts a day? I'd rather work on my eating as that's most of the equation anyway. Know you will get back in the swing of the workouts and writing.

Becky, glad you liked Bootcamp. I'm sure I didn't keep up with Cathe and crew either, just did what I could.

Got to go, great workouts today!

Jeanette

Good morning!

Not sure what is up in the workout department today, but I am sure excited about the new workouts. Hopefully I can get up to speed by the time they finally come out! LOL. I'm thinking that I'm going to do Kickin Core today. My darn calve muscle is still twitchin' a bit, so I might have to lay off the higher impact aerobics.

Karen - I'm on my way over to Zappos to check out the Rykas there. I made the New Balances last since June, so five months, which is about all my shoes ever last any way. I have so many garden shoes now, I need a place to put them all.

Jeanette, I'm excited about those new workouts too. They will be coming at a time that I will be ready (I think) I'm with you on the eating too, so much of the equation and I'm just too busy lately to do the work necessary to eat super clean. So I eat a little clean. I'm also waiting for the results of the blood test to see what foods I may be sensitive or allergic to.

Any way, can you tell that I'm procratinating? I'd better get back to work. Then I won't have to work so much this weekend. Talk to you later and you both have a wonderful day!!!

Good Evening!:)

Let's see -- today was CTX Kickbox -- then stretch #3 with Cathe. It was a good workout. But I am reminded how much more intense Cathe workouts are from the FIRM workouts. But that's what I like...

Jeanette -- I love that workout HSC -- the Timesaver -- I almost never have time to do the entire workout, but that Timesaver is great. And new workouts -- no I haven't checked out the blog for a while -- I'll go over there tonight and look. Geez, I don't even have the new ones yet. My hubby has sent my care package, but I won't have it until Tuesday -- hopefully I'll be up to speed then.

Rhea -- sounds like you're really getting back into the groove of things. Yeah, Zappos was great -- they let me try all these other brands, and I did -- but I came back to my Ryka's and I'm glad that I did -- they just seem to fit me best of all. You made me laugh over the garden shoes -- I have the same thing -- lots of garden shoes.

Yes, I do hope I get back into the swing of writing 10 pages a day -- I think I managed one today.x( And I was honestly trying.

Well, have a wonderful day tomorrow and a terrific weekend!:7

Good morning,
Today was Christi Taylor's Core Cardio step workout for 30 minutes, then switched to GS Legs floorwork for the other 30 minutes. Nice. Have a big annual family breakfast event at my sister's house tomorrow morning. I will be making the sausage/egg breakfast casserole for it. Will get a workout in before we go over. Hoping for a walk or bike ride later on depending on the weather. Have wood to stack too.

Rhea, when will you get the food allergy results? I'm sure you will be up to the new workouts. I bet they don't come out until summertime. Have a busy weekend planned? How's the sewing coming along?

Karen, bet Tuesday will be a great day for you to get your hands on the new workouts. I'm hoping that you like the cardio in them. The kickbox isn't too complex and the bootcamp is modifiable, not much impact, thank goodness. Hoping you like the step workouts, LIS & HIS.

Must go, busy day at work today for sure. Hope everyone has a great weekend and Veteran's Day!

Jeanette

Good morning!

Decided to take yesterday off from working out. Didn't have enough time and when I got home, I was a bit bushed. Had a sorority meeting last night too, so didn't want to get all sweaty and then go...

I'm going to try and squeeze something in for today. I had a bit of DOMS from the bi/triceps workout part of boot camp, plus a little achyness from the flu shot. Better today, still a little achy though.

I'm hoping I get in sewing this weekend since the weekend after will be company on the Sat (right after finishing a trial) so I'm sure on Sunday, I might not have energy for anything. Plus, I guess we're having a bunch of company for Thanksgiving (actually, this is why I like running away to Mexico for Thanksgiving)

I won't get the food allergy results until the day before Thanksgiving. I'm hoping everything went well with the blood tests (had to take it twice since DHL never showed up to pick it up at the hospital and the blood went bad) The company hasn't charged my credit card yet, well, at least it hasn't posted yet.

Well, I had better get my rear into gear and work. Have a great weekend everyone and I sure hope you get those new workouts soon Karen.

Good Afternoon!:)

Am logging on early in the hopes of catching you both before the weekend. Oh, isn't this weekend a special weekend -- like a Memorial Day or something? I can't find it on my calendar, but I seem to remember something about that.

It was the FIRM Cardio Scuplt with Nancy Tucker for me today. Today I was doing the jumps in it -- good workout. And yes, I can't wait to get the new workouts.

Jeanette -- that casserole sounds so yummy. Have a great time with the family. Makes me a little homesick -- well, maybe a lot... And hope your bike ride is great. Still don't have the Christi Taylor workouts -- but hopefully, I'll have the new Cathe ones soon.

Rhea -- you know, sometimes those flu shots have a bit of a dose of mercury in them -- and mercury isn't good for you. It's in the preservative of the shot -- I forget the name they use -- something that starts with a "t" I think -- but it's mercury and pretty much not good for you. So it's a double edged "benefit," sometimes. If you want, let me give you a site to go to if you would like -- they have a product that the maker of says is very good for detoxing the body of heavy metals -- and in particular, mercury. The site is: www.phisciences.com and the product is Crystal Energy, I believe. This is the same manufacturer who makes a product called MegHydrate, that I am using to get over this spider bite fast. It's the same thing that my hubby and brother-in-law gave to one of our dogs who was bit by a rattlesnake -- and within 24 hours, there was no sign of the bite. My hubby thought it might help me recover from the spider bite that I got -- and this is my own personal experience, but I got the product (megahydrate) last Friday and began taking it and by Saturday, I was back to my normal self, with my energy back. At the very least, you could go and read about the products.

So, my dear, it is my wish for you that you get well, get your energy back and just flourish from now on.

Have a super weekend.:7

Good Evening!:)

Well, it's Sunday, Veteran's Day -- hope you both had a wonderful day and weekend. So, it's time for me to look at the week ahead and see what the plans are for the week to come. Saturday's workout, by the way, was CTX kick box -- just the kickboxing itself.

A couple of considerations are that I'm building myself back up to where I was before I got the spider bite. Last week I did The FIRM's workouts -- all were 30-40 minutes and were beginners to intermediate. This week, I think I'm going to go with workouts that are still brief, but add intensity gradually. I could do just CTX -- but they are a bit long and are pretty intense, actually. But I could probably modify the intensity -- and it might be a good way to build back up, since I should be getting the new workouts on Tuesday.

So perhaps that will be my next week's plan, is the CTX series as it is -- if it's too intense or just too much, I can always cut it back.

There's a little kitten around here where I'm staying -- and it is, indeed, a kitten. It won't quite come to me, but I'm feeding it because it's just too small to take care of itself. Where I'm staying is right next door to a fast food place and I bet it was dumped off here by someone, which is upsetting to me. At least it has some food, and if I can tame it a little and get it to come to me eventually, I'll find a home for it.

Okay, so have a really terrific day tomorrow and some terrific workouts, as usual.:7

Hi,
Today was Veterans Day, so day off from work. Today I did Cardio & Weights premix with compound weights and then abs. Had a golf lesson and then 9 holes of golf. That's all I got done today, plus a little grocery shopping.

Karen, have you caught the kitten yet? Will you get to keep it yourself? Hope you are feeling top notch this week.

Rhea, did you get some sewing in this weekend? My sister is making a beautiful little quilt. I checked it out this weekend. Hope the achiness is gone from the flu shot.

Jeanette
