KK's July Check In

Morning,
Today was S&H Legs (sans calf work). Will do a Cardio Coach on the bike after work, after it cools down outside so probably eveningish. Have been doing about a 15 minute walk during my break in the afternoon. Cut and color looks good. Feels so much better and I feel less frumpy. Amazing how a haircut will perk you up. I have short hair but it's thick and just gets to be too much for me sometimes (overpowers my face).

Karen, good advice on drinking more water due to unclean air issues around here. I'll be thinking of you today and pushing the water while at my desk. Must feel great having the cast off! When will you be going back to Florida? Do you have to pack a lot of stuff? Nice that your DH is supportive of your course.

Rhea, I'm hearing more about people having health issues with the smoke. Hope they are getting some kind of handle on these fires. I need to look them up on the internet and see what the containment is on them. Hope you feel better today. Going to tackle those floors yourself? WTG! DH and I are going to finish that darned back porch this weekend. I told him to have me lined out to paint non-stop.

Hi Janie, getting ready for company?

Hope everyone has a great weekend and see you all back on Monday.

Jeanette

Good Evening!:)

Today was a day off for me. I got up early for a radio interview, then started in on the synopsis and finally finished it by early afternoon and got it off to my editor. Yea! But by that time it was too late to work out as I also had to take one of our cats to the vet and then get home and get super ready. So tomorrow I plan on CTX kickbox and CTX legs on Sunday.

Jeanette, I, too, have thick hair. Mine is also coarse and when it gets too long in the bangs or too long in front, I feel as if I lose my face to my hair. But then I have a small face, too. Your workouts look great, Jeanette.

Hi Rhea and Janie! Rhea, I know you're off to Berkeley and Janie you have company. Hope it all goes well for you.

And it does feel good to have the cast off. The hand and fingers are still quite swollen and it's a little painful, but it does feel good to be able to use the hand again.

Have a super weekend, everyoneS!:7

Good mornin,

Our company came early. They will be leaving Weds. These people are great, it feels like I've known them all my life. We biked over 10 miles yesterday. Reminiscing, played a dice game called 10,000. Going to bike ride again today, tomorrow will be going to the ocean, and the next day going to Seattle at the Pike Place Market and the Space Needle.

You all look very busy. Those California fires are ridiculous, please stay safe. Rhea and Jeanette, please stay healthy with all those fires. KK, have a good radio interview and glad you finished those synopisis.

Talk with you all on Weds, take care,

Janie

Good Evening,

Everyone is getting ready for bed and just wanted to write. Joey and I and our company went for another bike ride today. This time was the same route (over ten miles), but faster and I didn't stop at all on any of the hills. Was very proud of all of us, we all succeeded with our challenges today.

Tomorrow is a day at the ocean. Lots of walking, pier shopping and a fish dinner at a restaurant and home again. It takes a little less than two hours to get there.

The next day will be in Seattle. We'll go to the famous Pike Place Market, and the Space Needle.

I know I'm not young but I want a hair cut like my avatar. I just love that hair cut. My bangs need to grow a little more, then I can get it cut in the back short.

Hope everyone has a great weekend with lots of exercising and a lot more fun.

Good Evening!:)

This weekend was spent getting ready to go back to Florida. Georgie will go with me. Anyway, I figure I'll be going back somewhere around Wednesday or Thursday -- hopefully that's enough time for the swelling on my hand to go down and to get some strength built up in it again -- that hand is so weak.

Today was CTX Kickbox, but Friday and Saturday were no workout days for me. Just too busy.

Janie, it really sounds like you are having fun. Those bike rides are great -- when I get back from Florida I want to get my bike out and start to ride again. Have fun, Janie. It really sounds like lots of fun. I'm probably way behind here, but what is Avatar -- is this the cute little graphics girl that I admire.

Hi Jeanette & Rhea! Hope you both had great weekends!

Not sure what I plan workout wise because I'll be leaving to go back to Florida on Wednesday or Thursday. Tomorrow I plan to start packing and figuring out my route. Plus, I plan to start weight work and hope to build up the strength in that hand. It's very weak right now.

Anyway, hope you all are doing well and have a super day! Janie have fun with your company.:7

Good mornin,

KK, Florida already? I'm glad you are taking Georgie with you for company. Keep safe while traveling OK? I hope your hand won't give you any problems. When you've settled a bit, I expect some messages from you. Yes the cute little graphic girl is my avatar.

Our company, Joey and I will bike ride yet again today. Most likely a different place (maybe) and will be more than 10 miles again. It's been so wonderful to have these special people with us. I wish they could be our neighbors. We all get along so wonderfully well. They'll be leaving on Thursday instead of Wednesday. We get an extra day with them. Will be going to Seattle on Wednesday and doing some serious shopping.

Good morning!

Just a quick Hi and then I'm off to the jail.

It is really smokey throughout the entire northern California. We had thick smoke all the way down to the bay area. Berkeley got a little better during the weekend because the fog rolled in and there was quite a breeze, but you could tell that there was still a haze from the smoke/smog ( I guess you have to add in the smog factor there) I'm really biting at the bit to apply for jobs, but I have to wait a while. It is very hard to not want to start looking. I've at least typed up my resume.

Well, No workouts for me obviously, but I weighed myself this morning and despite all the floor work I have to do, those workouts are starting up again. Eating is going to be reigned in too.....whooow....I'm weighing in at the most I have ever weighed in my life. Not good. So, right back on the band wagon.

Got to run. Have a great day everyone!

Rhea,
Those fires scare me, I can't imagine how it is effecting everyone there. Please please stay safe no matter what. Hope you find a job that is perfect for you when you are ready. I'm sure you'll have no problem at all with that. Good luck anyway and let us know once you start looking. I would really love to see the work you've put into your home. I bet it is beautiful and happy there. Don't worry about your eating, you'll get it under control. I'm kinda of in the same boat. I've gained too and not proud of it. Yet I have surgery soon and won't be able to work out the upper body (doctor says 6 weeks). Right now I'm trying to get in as many workouts as I can, and our company helps me do it. Bless their hearts.

You take care of yourself and don't beat yourself up, you will get the weight under control. I think we all go through a phase at certain times. It's just life and it happens to the best of us.

Hi all,
No workout for me today, my rest day. I had to take our kitty in and have her put down. She was old and kidneys failing. I did get a bike ride in with 3 other girls. Tough hill climb, but successful and a fast downhill when we got done. Today was our 29th anniversary. DH made tacos and they were good. Worked around the house on Saturday, got a hot bike ride in on Sunday and played golf twice. DH even went with me yesterday and drove the cart. It was fun and I think he enjoyed it too. He doesn't play, but who knows, maybe someday.

Karen, so you will be on the road again. Please drive carefully and we will miss you until you can get back online. Will you be staying in the same place? Glad you are taking Georgie for company. How's the hand feeling? So glad you got the cast off. Did your hand shrink? I had a cast on my leg years ago and the leg got real small.

Janie, sounds like you are having a great time with your friends. The bike rides sound wonderful. Are you riding on dirt or pavement? The trip to the ocean sounds great. We usually go to Bandon, Oregon each year, but the last 2 we haven't. Hopefully, next year we will go. Hope you get the haircut you want. I have short hair myself and love it short, especially in this warm weather.

Rhea, this smoke gets tiring, doesn't it? My sister lives in the Quincy area and it's been bad there with that Canyon Fire. Have you lived in Susanville a long time? I've been here since 1974, so it would be hard to leave, plus my folks and family live here too. Bet you won't have any trouble finding a job. How is the floor coming? You are braver than myself, I haven't stepped on the scale in a few months. I get sooooo tired of this fight to keep the weight low, so I've been focusing on my bike fitness and having fun. The scale would bum me out so now I'm not bummed anymore. Sound like denial?

Good night all, will do an upper body weight workout tomorrow.

Jeanette

Good Evening!:)

Jeanette, I think I logged on right after you did, cause the forum was the 2nd one when I got on. : )

It was the new workout from Basic Step -- I guess it's Body Fusion -- good workout for a beginning workout -- lifted 2 lb. weights today -- my first upper body since the accident -- and can you believe I'm sore. Tomorrow will be some sort of straight cardio or anaerobics -- and then housecleaning and packing for me.

Both my daughters have birthdays this month and so I already have their presents wrapped and sent and now it's just getting ready to go. Interestingly, Jeanette, my hand is very swollen, instead of shrinking. I broke my ankle once and I remember the leg shrinking -- but the opposite is what is happening with the hand -- it's swollen. Anyway, it's better today and the doctor told me not to baby it, so I did some upper body today. ;-)

Janie, those people sound wonderful. Bet your bike ride -- is it tomorrow? -- will be great. When do you go in for surgery? Like you, I had to refrain from any upper body for about 6 weeks. Sore from 2 lb. weights. Wow. Have a great time shopping. I do love to shop, so I can imagine the fun you'll have.

Rhea, you made me laugh again. I read your post and broke out laughing at your first comment. Going to jail or something like that... That smoke sounds terrible -- it's not down here in LA yet, but then this is not necessarily our fire season -- that's coming up later in the year, I'm afraid. Please do be sure to drink lots of water.

The weight will come off once you start putting attention on it. I weigh myself every day -- only because it's the only way I know to keep myself in check. I gained weight with the hand -- have about 3-5 lbs to lose, but am just concentrating on getting the hand working again. Please do drink minimum of 8 glasses of water a day -- more when you exercise. I just heard Cathe say that in these basic DVD's. That's great that you're getting your resume all put together. Don't think you'll have a problem getting a job. Not with all your experience.

Jeanette, you, too, are in the area of the smoke. I do think that drinking lots of water would be a good idea, since fire and smoke tends to be drying. When Indians make jerky, first they smoke the meat to begin the drying process...so...

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Jeanette! That's a stellar accomplishment in this day and age, I think. And many, many more.

Okay and now for the sad part. I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I know how hard this must be for you and your family. Good thing to get out and do a bike ride -- get your attention off of it. My heart goes out to you.

Susanville is such a beautiful place -- I can understand why you haven't moved since 1974.

Okay, well, have a super day tomorrow and hope your workouts, food and bike rides are great.:7

Good Evening Jeanette,

Rest days are wonderful aren't they? So sorry about your poor little kitty. That's always hard to do. Just know she's out of pain now, it was so humane of you.

29 years! That's awesome, happy Anniversary and many many more.

I truly wish that these people could become our neighbors. They are considerate, comical and loads of fun. Healthy and a great attitude about life. Some day I hope our paths will meet again, but I don't think so, they live in MI and my sweet hubby is very frugal. But there is lots of memories already.

We have trail bikes (I think that's what they are called). Rode on dirt for about 3 miles, then about 7 or 8 miles on pavement.

Take care, and do what ever needs done to be safe from those fires and the smoke.

KK,

Love body fusion. It might be a beginners workout, but if you do it on a bosu, watch out, it is intense. Proud of you for getting back in exercising the way you did. Slow and easy. Hope your hand gets better soon and not swell up anymore.

Today was the bike ride again, tomorrow is Seattle. Hope to bring a gooeyduck home from Pike Place Market. Would love to make a clam chowder out of it, or clam strips. YUM!

My surgery is Thursday the 24th. Not scared at all, just want to be back to normal. Can't wait.

Hope your trip goes well, and like Rhea says will be waiting to hear from you when you settle down. Hope the classes goes very fast so you can be back home with your family.

Take care and be careful on your trip.

Good morning,
Today was GS Chest & Triceps premix superset (32 minutes), then added on BMII abs only. Tonite will be helping DH and mowing the property of weeds. Will also shoot for a walk during my break at work.

Janie, thank you for your condolences for our kitty. She was a sweet one and you are right, in a better place now. Isn't it great to meet nice people? I think the economy the way it is, going to be harder to travel. Those days of retirees spending so much time traveling will be curtailed. Sad. Everyone I know is cutting back. Enjoy the ocean today! I think biking is so much fun, dirt or road. Hard part is getting the tush conditioned!

Karen, glad you could get a weight workout in, even if it is light weights. Know you will be careful and not push too much. I have Body Fusion and I think it was my first Cathe DVD, though it was a challenge for me. Thanks for the condolences for Maggie (our cat). I was time and we knew it. Just didn't want her to suffer any more.

Gotta run now,

Jeanette

Good Evening!:)

Let's see. It was IMAX 2 today -- 8 intervals -- I skipped intervals 6 and 9 -- boy, I sure am out of shape.

Janie, those people sound wonderful. Like Jeanette, with the economy like it is, I think that travel will be curtailed a bit. I hate to see it, but I do think it may be true. Not sure about food either. I think it's a wise idea to get in a garden. I'll be thinking about you on the 24th. Have fun shopping.

Jeanette, how did the lawn mowing session go tonight? Do you have a rider? I am amazed that I am still sore today. Wow, with 2 lb. weights. But tomorrow I plan ME with light, light weight. I'll just keep at it -- hope the swelling goes down soon on the hand.

Hi Rhea!

Well, have a super evening, everyone. And have a great day tomorrow.:7

Morning,
Today was Cardio Fusion step premix. Good one. Today is golf after work and will also get a walk in during my break.

Karen, yes, we have a riding mower so I got the weeds done last night. Think that might be the last time this year I'll have to do them as things have quit growing so much. Enjoy ME with your light weights. Don't push it or the hand will stay swollen. Good job on Imax2. What is your favorite interval on it? I think mine is the 2nd one.

Gotta run and watch the tour. Hi to Rhea and Janie.

Jeanette

KK, don't worry about your workouts those last intervals are hard. You know the more you do them the better shape you will be in. You are doing fine and will be up to par in no time at all.

Jeanette, Cardio Fusion is a great workout. Have fun golfing and walking today.

Hi there Rhea,

We all had such a time in Seattle yesterday. Today my seating bones hurt, so I opted not to ride today. Everyone else is though (right now as I type) and I'm sure having a great time. I need some biking pants.

Will do a treadmill as soon as I'm done here.

Our company will be getting ready to leave today, and will be off early tomorrow morning. (sad)

Take care everyone,

Janie

Good morning!

Oops, I forgot to post yesterday. Oh well, I'm remembering today.

No workout yesterday. I opted to rest. I've been really tired at the end of the day and my sugar cravings are about 1/2 and 1/2 right now. I think a majority of my "tiredness" is the lower carbs that I have been doing. I've cut out most non-essential carbs and it will take a while for my body to adjust. I might pop in some extra carbs today with a milk based coffee drink.

Still have not really started the floors yet. I've torn out the carpet, torn off the moulding around all the doors (so I can get the wood floors underneath the molding. I'm working on getting the door jambs cut on the bottom. I think that I will try and get the vapor barrior down today and the lines snapped and maybe even a row of the wood in....that would be exciting!!

I think I will do a little cardio today and add on a lower body weight like the Turbo jam. I ordered Tony Horton's ten minute dvds and plan on doing those in the morning when DH is finally gone in Foster City.

All that and I've still got to jump up the job search.

Talk to you later!

Have a great day.

Good Afternoon!:)

I, too, forgot to post yesterday. Yes, I did ME, the express workout, which is about 55 minutes long, I found -- and with very light weights -- 2 to 3 lb. weights. Am very sore today -- yesterday was the first time I've done abs in 7 weeks.

Today was the first cardio from BM2. Really hard to believe how sore I am. The swelling in the hand is going down steadily, but it's still quite swollen and painful. Sigh...

Jeanette, your workouts always look challenging. My favorite interval in IMAX2 I think is interval 10 -- love that music and maybe it's just cause it's the end. You know, thank goodness!:7 I like interval 2 as well. My all time favorite interval is #10 from IMAX3 -- just fun, fun, fun.

Janie, sorry your wonderful company is going home so soon. But at least you had this time with them. Love your graphic today -- wow, she's up in the air doing those sit ups.:7 She must be in terrific shape.

Rhea, amazing these home projects that you do. I get tired just thinking about them. I have to talk myself into vacuuming every week. I can't imagine pulling up the rug and then laying down a floor. Well done. Hope your workouts go great today. I'll be leaving here I guess around Sat. Deep sigh...

Have a super day, everyone!:7

Hi ladies,
I didn't post this morning as I turned on the Tour, but I did do Pyramid Upper Body up premix for Back, Biceps and Shoulders. Tomorrow will be some cardio and abs before leaving for Fall River Mills to golf and cycle. I do an annual organized bike ride there with friends and will camp at the Fairgrounds tomorrow night. Have to get out the tent, sleeping bag, etc. Looking forward to it. Hoping the winds are favorable and don't push the smoke into that valley.

Janie, so glad you had a nice time in Seattle. Know you will miss the new friends. Did you find some cycling shorts? Personally, I like a minimal chamois. Too much and it feels like a diaper and chafes.

Rhea, sorry you are so tired. Glad the eating change is going well for you. I've been cutting down on my carbs a bit too and it makes a difference. Less puffiness too.

Karen, that interval #10 is a good one too, the Pina Colada song. Yes, vacuuming isn't my favorite thing, I sure take my hat off to Rhea for tackling those big jobs. Drive safe to Florida, (((hugs))) to you. Would icing your hand make the swelling go down?

Well ladies, don't know if the forums will be up tomorrow or not. Big change coming, but should be exciting.

Jeanette
