KK's January 2010 Thread

Good evening,

Today was a cardio day so I did HIIT 30-30. Followed it up with a few combos from Christi Taylor's Solid Gold Step with 2 risers, then did the core work from MMA Kickbox. Good workout. I really love having more time to work out in the morning. It was a furlough day so I was off work. Also went out to the desert and hit some golf balls. Hoping to go down to the valley on Sunday to play golf.

Just got back from a nice visit with my sister. She helped me put my quilt together. I'll take it to the long arm quilters tomorrow.

Karen, thanks for the compliment on the quilt. I really like this one. So you and I did HIIT today! I like that the intervals are short. I think you are right in that it's one of the easier ones of the HIIT. Yes, 40-20 was definitely harder. I love the core work in her new series, working me in a different way than what I'd become accustomed to. I think my favorite right now is Step Moves. I really like that one.

Hi Rhea and Janie, hope you two are doing okay.

Jeanette, Shock Cardio has a variety of workouts for sure. So far haven't done MMA Fusion, but looking forward to it. Hoping I will like it.

KK, Being tested during a workout is a good thing. Right? Haven't done that one yet, can't wait to do it. Don't have any favorites yet, but when I do will let you know.

I need to lose weight too. Darn! Had to much fun during the Holidays.

Jeanette, I really like Christi Taylor's workouts. Can't go wrong with them. You had great workouts today. Good for you.

Bet it was fun hitting the golf balls.

Janie

Hi ladies,
Today was STS Disk 12 - Legs. Felt really strong for it so upped my weights. For those moves where you slide your leg back and put your weights down and then pick them up, I just hang on to the weights. I just felt like it risks me hurting my back. Instead, I keep a'hold of the weights and slide my leg (with the paper plate). Works for me. I have no problem modifying when it comes to risking an injury. I'm not a big leg fan, but of all my workouts, STS Legs workouts have the least amount of dread.

Rest of the day was housework and such. Also took my quilt to the long arm quilter. Told her I'm not in a big hurry for it, but imagine she'll have it done within a couple of weeks. DD and family came over for dinner tonite, had a very nice time. Tomorrow, DH and I are going to the valley to golf. Should be fun.

Janie, I wasn't very good with the MMA Fusion combos, will get better with practice, I'm sure. Did you ever finish your soap making book?

Must run, no workout tomorrow morning.

Good Evening!

Today was a rest day for me. Busy, though -- so much kitchen work to do. I did a class on Saturday -- me teaching it -- on how to sprout grains, etc., the old way and how to use the ancient Native American way of treating corn so that the amino acid balance changes -- and it becomes a full protein. Something I ran across -- am so interested in nutrition, etc. So I thought I'd do a series of classes and tape them and perhaps show them to my friends -- maybe charge a very small fee -- like $5.00 or something.

Jeanette, I really am liking these Hiit workouts. Really, really like them. And I do think that 30/30 is my favorite. I like step moves too, but I've only done it once and then I cut it down, cause I still can't do the longer workouts.

Your quilt is really beautiful. I do wish I had the knowledge of how to do that. And it really does look very similar to the star quilts on the Lakotah reservations.

Janie, you'll love these new workouts. I really think you will. Personally, I'm still loving your soaps.

Rhea, hope all is well with you. I'm sure the weekends are full and busy.

Have a super day tomorrow!:D

Jeanette, Disc 12 is HARD! Good for you. Congratulations for upping your weight. I modify all the time, do listen to your body.

Love your quilt!

Haven't finished my book yet, but my life has had some interruptions and soon will get back into it.

Enjoy your family and golfing.

KK, Wished I could have been in on your class sprouting seeds. I love doing that and putting them in salads. Treating corn to make it a protein? Wow! That is interesting.

Hi Rhea, hope you are doing well.

Janie

Hi all,
No workout today, tomorrow will be some kind of cardio I think. It's my active rest week from STS. Yesterday's golf game in the valley was really fun and I golfed well, for me anyway. Hope I get to play again soon. We had a golf meeting tonite, was nice to see some of my golf friends there.

Karen, wow, you have so much knowledge. I think that's great that you want to share it. Bet it's really interesting. Thanks again for the quilt compliment. I'm ready to start something new, probably tomorrow night cut some fabric out.

Janie, did you get to try MMA Fusion yet? I need to do that one again as I kind of lumbered thru it. Life will hopefully get back to a more normal way soon for you.

Hi Rhea,

Hi Jeanette, OOOOOO love active rest weeks. Can do almost you want; walking, jogging, Shock Cardios, swimming, hiking, golfing...as long as you leave the weight alone.

So glad you found time to golf. I bet you did have a lot of fun. That's something you keep doing year after year.

Enjoy cutting out your new fabric for your next project.

I'll be doing a MMA Kickbox tomorrow. Can't wait. I think life is getting back to normal. Thank goodness. Just have this cold to deal with and then back to full workouts again.

Hi to Rhea and KK.

Janie

Good Evening!

Today was Hiit Pyramid -- that's a good workout -- a little easier than 40/20 -- but still worked up a sweat with me.

Jeanette, thanks for your compliment -- I think I have all this info cause I'm always doing research -- it started with my books cause they're historical -- but when my BIL got sick, I did some pretty intense research on food and such. Some of my friends have been wanting me to teach them about sprouting and that sort of thing -- only thing is -- I don't like the way I look on camera. My teeth aren't straight (they are a bit crooked) and on camera it looks like I have no teeth in spots. So there I am talking about nutrition and whenever I'd smile, it looked like I was missing teeth.:( Almost funny.

We're going to redo it with better lighting -- hope I can get the teeth thing fixed. Grandfather George is a Native American actor and told me that if I were doing this professionally, they have stick ons. Interesting.

Janie, sure hope you'll get the time to finish that book. I so love your soap. Like Jeanette, the Fusion DVD was a little tough for me -- but it was a good workout. You know that MMA boxing is a good workout -- really tough. Not that I like boxing -- I don't -- but goodness the workout kicks.

Busy, busy. Trying to get busy, busy. Anyway, have a super day tomorrow.:D

Good Evening!

Let's see -- today was 1/2 of Supersets -- about 40-45 minutes and then tomorrow I figure I'll do another Hiit and then the rest of Supersets the next day. It was a good time for me.

Am writing pretty much every day -- but I may not tomorrow, cause I'll be going to a reader's group and it's a bit of a distance away.

Rhea, hope all is well with you -- haven't heard from you in a while.

Janie, hope those workouts are going well for you. Have you done all the the Hiit's yet?

Jeanette, did you do a cardio today? Hope that quilting is going well. Now, you're still working at the same place, aren't you?

Okay, gotta run and walk the dogs and get to bed. Have a super day tomorrow.

Hi KK,

I've had a cold for the last week now, and am not able to workout without hacking and coughing. So I'm letting a week go by before I start up on my exercises again.

Tomorrow will go to the ocean for a couple of days. Joey and I miss it so much.

Good job on your workouts, and thank you for giving me your view on Kick box. I love doing it but I can understand it's not for everyone.

I've had some stressful things happening in my life lately and wasn't able to get to my book, but, I think things might calm down enough so I can return to it. At least I hope so.

KK, you are beautiful inside and out. I'm so glad things are looking good for you. How exciting it must be.

Rhea and Jeanette, howdy.

Take care my friends,

Janie

Okay, just quick note so you know I'm still alive!

Work has been extra hectic since one judge retired and the other took over. Been really a bit of a cluster. The remaining judge is 85 and can't always hear, doesn't remember things and is actually irritatingly selfish and controlling. Trial dates are moving all around and it is a mess.

Oh well, I had better get off since I was in the middle of this message and I got interrupted. IT is going to kill me.

Good Evening!

Today was 30/30 Hiit -- tomorrow I plan to finish Supersets. Thanks Janie for the compliment. Does my heart good.

Yeah, it seems you've had some hard hits lately, Janie, and the ocean might be a good place to go -- just to get some space. And I can understand not wanting to workout when you're not feeling well.

Hi Jeanette! Hi Rhea! Hope all is going well with you both.

It's been warm here in the LA area lately during the day. I kinda prefer the cold -- at least in January and February.

Have a super day!:D

One more thing!

Hi Rhea!

I think we must've been typing at the same time -- I was just about to go to your email and send you an email just to make sure all was okay. And after I posted, there was your message.

Too bad about the judge -- but to still be working at 85 must be good -- I guess.

Thanks so much for posting. I was wondering. :D

Good afternoon!

Got up this morning bright and early, met some friends for a run and ran for about a mile. Whoo hooo. I actually did better than I thought I would too....didn't have too many stops. I definately need new shoes though, I was stopping today more for my shins and my right hip flexor tightened up a bit. My shoes I guess were just too worn down. I bought one pair today and I'll see how that goes. I almost bought two pairs, but just couldn't. I think it is almost time to trade in the aerobic shoes too....but I got some cross trainers before Thanksgiving realllly cheap at the Sports Authority, so I already have some. Their not my favorite, but I think one of the pairs was only $20, couldn't pass that up.

Tomorrow I think I'll plug in step moves, I love that one. I have some of Tracy long's new stuff, I might have to add one on.

Have a great rest of the day.

Hi all,
Today's workout was the express premix for Core Cardio Circuit, which is 31 minutes. Good workout, also did a walk around the track at work on my break. Let's see, yesterday's workout was about 30 minutes of Shiva Rea's Yoga Shakti. Day before that was hmmmm, a cardio mixture of some kind. This is my rest week from weights. Tomorrow is a furlough day so I'm home to take my time in the workout, then get my hair colored and cut.

Rhea, good job on the run. Wish I enjoyed it, but it's just not my thing...yet.

Janie, hope you are done with that cold now. Did you have a good time at the ocean? My DH and I enjoy going to the Oregon coast every year. Not sure if we'll go this year as he may go elk hunting in Wyoming, if he and DS get drawn.

Karen, that Supersets workout makes me smile. Great music and no dread workout. Yep, I'm still working at the prison. Busy, busy every day there. Day flies by though.

Picked up my quilt from the long arm quilters. Looks great. Now I need to put the binding on and put it on the guest room bed.

Good night.

Hi,
Today's workout was the Circuit Blast, which I really enjoyed. This was the 2nd time I've done it and it was definitely easier for me. I also used light weights as this is my recovery week from STS. I like the band work and the short cardio blasts. I didn't wear my HRM so don't know how many calories burned. Of course, I modified any of the higher impact moves, which really aren't that many. I think this will be one of my favorite circuit workouts.

Got my hair cut and colored, little bit of housework, going to sit down to the sewing machine tonite and sew.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi all,
Let's see yesterday's workout was a couple sections of different Christi Taylor step DVD's, then some abwork. Had to cut it short as my Dad came over to pick up some bottles and cans. Today's workout was Travel Fit, which I really enjoyed.

Yesterday, our boys helped me pull out some posts from the old arena, and I got them all loaded and unloaded. Lots of work. By the end, my wrists were tired. Today I played 9 holes of golf and had a good time. Watching (kind of) the Super Bowl.

Okay, must go. This thread is a ghost town this weekend. :p

Rest day tomorrow.

Jeanette

Rhea, Hang in there, I hope things change a little and get better for you soon.

KK, Great job on your workouts. You are such an energizer bunny. LOL;) I had a really good time at the ocean with my Joey.

Rhea, Man, I haven't ran for years. Makes me think about maybe a small run wouldn't hurt. Ummm. The right shoes makes all the difference in the world. Love Step Moves and Tracy Long, enjoy.

Jeanette, Don't you just love Shiva Reas. Have just about everything she does. Really looks like you are doing great on your workouts. Good for you.

Yes, Joey and I had a great time at the ocean. Just what the doctor ordered.:)

Enjoy your hair color and cut.

Would love to see your quilt, so I can ooooo and awwwww. Could you take a picture of this one too?

Haven't done Circuit Blast, sounds like it is a keeper. Can't wait to do it.

I always love to do Christi taylor. I tell everyone how good she is at cuing. I have done Travel Fit. Loved it.:D

OMG! Must be Golf Season already. Looking forward about hearing you enjoy yourself.

Sorry about the thread being a ghost town this weekend. Seems like your talking to yourself doesn't it? I'll try harder, so you won't be alone next time.

If interested I created a rotation, here's the link. For A Lean Sculpted Butt And A Strong Hard Body

Also here is a link that is amazing and inspiring: THE TAKEOVER

Joey and I started the rotation today. Did STS Disc 4, Chest, Shoulders & Biceps. I'm sure as the rotations come along, I'll be modifying. But, I will be getting stronger.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Afternoon!

Hi!

Yesterday was Hiit Pyramid -- which I did with my DH. Today I'm planning the FIRM #4 workout. Gotta get to it, though -- it's getting late.

Rhea, you know, I got some new workouts shoes about 4-5 months ago -- I've yet to use them -- I'm saving them for when my others finally wear out. Probably shouldn't wait that long, but they are so expensive, that I am going to do so.

Jeanette, I so love that you do this work on your quilts. I so wish that I were talented in that area -- plus had the time to work on it. Gosh, circuit blast -- you're talking about the new one, right -- was a tough workout. Am really enjoying this new series. I love cardio and anaerobics and this just fits the bill most of the time. I have a hair appointment on Wednesday -- not to cut my hair, but to style it. I had a terrible cut when I was in Florida -- and I was growing it out from a very bad cut --when my hairdresser here --apparently wasn't paying attention and because she cuts by touch of the hair -- she kinda gave me the same cut that I so disliked and so I'm growing it out again from a bad cut.

Am going to someone else this time whom my daughter recommends -- and hopefully she'll be able to style it so I can stand it while it grows. :( Hair is such a touchy thing with me.

Yeah, sometimes my weekends are even busier than my weekdays (if that's possible) and so I sometimes forget to post. I'll try to do better.

Love that your golf is doing well.

Janie, your comment on the ghost town made me smile. I, too, will try to do better. My DH worked out with me yesterday on the Hiit Pyramids. It was really fun. What fun it must be to workout with your husband every day.

Well, not having that contract as a writer (it's the first time in seventeen years) means that my life is busier than every. Have a new book coming out in April (Seneca Surrender) -- and so between all the promo work for it and writing two new books -- I'm swamped.

Have a really super day everyone. I'm off to do FIRM #4.:D
