today that my 6 year old DD might have celiac disease. THere have have been a couple of doctors monitoring her for 5 years that have suspected it, but today another doctor was almost positive that is what is wrong with her. Any info on anyone that knows anything from personal experience about it?THank you :)

Oh Honey. I'm sorry I don't know anything about celiac disease. Are you sure he's positive?
I just want you to know I will pray for you and your little girl and have everyone I know pray too. I know it's hard to but have faith, and remember that God WILL take care of you both. If He leads you to it, He'll lead you THROUGH it. Take care and please keep us posted. Sending hug vibes your way.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I don't have any infomation to offer, but I send my love and hugs for you and your family.

Stay strong and keep us updated.

Hi. I am so sorry to hear that. You both are in my thoughts.

The name sounded familiar to me so I checked it out and it is what I thought. My cousin had this as a child and she did eventually outgrow it so that's a little good news for you hopefully...I don't know how many outgrow it, etc but she certainly did so I know that it is possible. You may know this already too but I just figured I'd let you know...

Take Care!

I'm so sorry to hear this!! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I've had a lot of GI problems and they suspected Celiac disease, but I came out negative for it during my Colonoscopy last Summer. I believe it is a wheat allergy and eating ANY wheat products just wreaks havoc on the intestines. My GI doctor told me that it is more common than we think, but a lot of people that actually have it are misdiagnosed for a long time. I think once you get the diet completely wheat free (which is difficult) the symptoms greatly improve. I've had to cut out wheat and I just thank goodness that a lot of Natural Foods stores do carry a nice variety of foods that are wheat free.

Good luck!!! One good thing...finding out is half the battle. I feel so bad as I KNOW first hand how much pain and agony intestinal problems can cause.

All my prayers and great big hugs to you both!!!! I'm sure they will be able to help now that you have a diagnosis!:)

I'm so sorry. I do know someone with Celiac disease. She is an adult but the disease just started. It's odd how the body changes sometimes. Her treatment is strictly diet based. No wheat in any form, period. It's going to be very rough as wheat is an american staple in almost everything. It's used as filler in a lot of foods. You need to ask the Doc and do some personal research as wheat can be identified by many different names.

I wanted to tell you that I understand what you are feeling regarding your DD. I have two teenage sons. In 2003, my older son started losing weight to the point he started looking sickly. A routine doctors visit sent us down a path to a surgeon and a gastroenterologist. He was diagnosed with Crohn's disease about 4 months later. This is an autoimmune disorder where your immune system attacks the gastrointestinal tract. There is no cure and he will be on meds forever. To make matters worse, almost 12 months to the day, his younger brother started losing weight. He was also diagnosed with Crohn's. It was particularly tough as my sons are the only grandchildren and the second son was diagnosed 4 days before my Dad passed away. It was a tough couple of years. Both a doing well on meds even though I have to be the pill police at times. Boys think they are invincible.

The reason I shared this is that I wanted you to know that things will be okay. An early diagnosis of Celiac is better than a late one. Like Crohn's, it takes some planning in regards to food choices but it's generally a managable illness. However, as a mother, worry comes with the territory.

Hang tough, stay informed and ask lots of questions. Knowledge is power!

A former co worker of mine suffered from Celiac. She was in her late thirties when she was finally diagnosed. She invested in a bread maker and pasta maker. She made her own bread from rice flour and pasta from rice flour. I believe Gluten is the ingredient she needed to avoid. She ate rice cakes with peanutbutter alot. It was quick and easy to bring to work.

My son has food allergies and it can be a challenge, but as it was said above, planning for food choices can make a world of difference.

My son brings a bagged lunch to school and to friends houses. He had a special conatiner in the nurses office at school with special treats for those surprise birthday cupcakes that a child would bring to school.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family while you deal with this new challenge.
