Has anyone tried either of Kimberly Spreen's workouts: Cardio Camp and Kickbox Boot Camp? Are they fun? How do you rate them in terms of effectiveness, instructor and music?

Thanks!

Clare :)

Hi Clare.

I have the two workouts you've mentioned and I also have Progressive Strength by Kimberly. I really enjoy all of her stuff. They definitely produce heavy amounts of sweat for me and I find them very effective. I would recommend them.

I have all three of her workouts and like them. I don't reach for them that often but when i do them i do enjoy the workout.

I have both and like Cardio Camp quite a bit more than Kickbox Boot Camp. Kickbox Boot Camp uses the step, but not a lot, and it's sometimes in the way of the other moves; the cardio doesn't seem that intense, the weight work is "creative", you know?, like holding the body bar straight out and flipping it back and forth like Uma in Kill Bill - my body bar is 15 lbs. and I always feel like this is not working my muscles but is threatening my joints and low back. I'm not much of a body bar fan anyhow. But I like Cardio Camp quite a bit, it's longer and a good sweat fest.

Thanks for your reviews ladies. Do you really need a body bar do you think? I wan't thinking of buying one....

I have both, and I also like Cardio Camp more than Kickbox Boot Camp. One thing I really like about Kimberley (besides her charming presence) is that she makes the moves flow together so well. She has a real talent at putting things together.

I use two bars for Kickbox Boot Camp (I think it's mis-named and should be Boxing Boot Camp because there's really no kicking in it at all). I use my bar from my Danskin barbell (6lbs) for the combat-style moves and then switch to a 12lb Bodybar for the rows and other standard weightlifting moves. How or why the same sized bar would be used for both cardio and weight work is beyond me!

Anyway, I really like Kimberly's camera presence. It was instant appeal, like Cathe (and Kelly Coffey-Meyer). Music on any of her workouts? I couldn't say, didn't notice. So it couldn't have been too great or too awful. Intensity.... I don't feel like I'm doing a whole lot in Kick Box Boot Camp, but I'm sweating buckets and don't know why. It just sneaks up on you. Cardio Camp - fun and different, but it's something that you get out of what you put into it. You can just go through the motions and not get much out of it, or give it your all and really have a sweatfest. It's not high impact, so that probably is why I feel that way.
