Kimberly Spreen workout DVDs

Hi all. I am curious if anyone here has tried Kimberly's new workout, Amplify Your Strnegth From Within. I am trying to determine if this is something that would interest me. The 60 second clip on collagevideo.com doesn't show much. Is this workout basically a yoga type program? Would you classify it as strength training or muscle conditioning? Or it it more yoga and relaxation? Is it challenging enough for a Cathe fan, who, though she does love weight training, does enjoy a lighter day now and again?

Also, has anyone here tried her Progressive Strength workout?

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

I have never done it, but just from the description alone it seems yoga is the focus, and the aim is to achieve strength through use of the body's own weight. This is not traditional strength training. It/yoga can build strength, but I think only up to a certain point. Beyond that you would need added resistance from the application of external weight through dumbells, weight machines, etc.

Having just seen the clip, this DVD seems to be aiming more at flexibility. Hard to tell.

I think it depends upon what you want. If relaxation and flexibility is the aim, I would be tempted to stick with a yoga DVD from a yoga specialist who knows yoga better than KM does. She's excellent at kickboxing, etc, but she's not a yoga pro. If it's serious strength you want, I wouldn't get this DVD. Might be a waste of $?

I don't know anything about this workout, but just wanted to add that I get some pretty significant back DOMS last week from doing a B. Kest yoga workout. So I think using your own weight to build strength can definitely help get into areas where traditional dumbells just can't reach. Why not try one of the yoga experts workouts and see? Just my two cents.:)

Hi
I have this video. I've had it for awhile an have only done it once. I like Kimberley but this really didn't click with me. There are alot of lunges which I was not crazy about. I did like some of the flowing yoga moves. I just felt bored through some of it. I will probably use this for vacation, since you do not need equipment, or a light day.

Thanks for the input, Jen. It doesn't sound like it would be very challenging, but would be good for a light day.

Also, thanks for the links to the Video Fitness forums and the reviews. I am still on the fence about whether to buy this one or not. I really like Kimberly, though.

I love Kimberly and got to meet her in person a couple of years ago. she is an awesome person! I have all of her videos. I haven't bought that one yet but it is on my list. I love her personality in her workouts. she is so motivating and fun. anyway, just wanted to comment on Kimberly and how great she is!
