Kids can ask the darnist questions.

My son and I were going to home depot when he wanted to ask me a question. He wanted to know how come he saw this woman on tv that lost weight and got big muscles why I wasn't the same.He told me "How come you have worked out for years and don't look like that?" At first my mouth flew open and couldn't believe what he asked. He told me that he didn't mean it in a negative way. I told him if she did it in a short amount of time that she probably has a personal trainer and lifts very heavy weight. And sometimes people genetics helps. He also said I was toned and was in good shape. That made me feel better. I know he didn't understand how she got that big in a short amount of time and look how long I have worked out and don't have gigantic muscles. I also told him that I lift no where as heavy as those ladies. I lift weights up to 25pds. They definitely feel heavy to me.

I just this was something cute to share with all of you.Sorry this was so long.

Also tell him that sometimes advertisements aren't entirely the truth--don't know how old he is but IMO it's never to early in life to learn this.

I hate some of those misleading ads. The one ad that gets me is "The Scooter Store" off of FitTV. Strange for FitTV. I guess some of us will need a scooter after Cathe has fried our legs and glutes. HA!

Sounds like a very perceptive guy...

You know, in those diet pill advertisements they usually show the before and after pictures but what they don't tell you that the person was in shape and probably recently had a bady or they gained the weight just for the purpose of advertising and making $$. Anyway, at the time they take the pictures sure they look out of shape...but all they have to do is start working out and eating right and since muscles do have memory, they regain their shape in most cases. Then in the small print they say the "results not typical"...what the heck does that mean??!!

People fall for it everyday...that's why it's a billion $$ business.

Can you tell this bothers me??

When it says results not typical it means that only 1% or some low number like that, can get those type of results, and more then likely with more help then that little pill.

Also, diet ads are so misleading it's not funny, a lot of times they take a overweight female, retouch the picture a little add a few more pounds on and make her look a bit worse, and then they pay her to lose weight and promote their product. Yes, most of those you see going I lost 50 pounds with this diet/diet pill/ you name it have actually applied to lose weight. IE they ask for a test group, basically hey we have a new diet pill, well give it to you free, if you'll allow us weigh you and run this and that test on you. People sign up, they target those who they know can lose the most weight, cut them from the test group give them a little more help, and then tell them if you get down to a normal weight for your body, we'll pay you $%%% and we'll give you the diet/diet pills free, as long as you only say you lost weight using us, and are willing to sign such and such contract.

Now how much easier would it be to lose weight if you were getting paid to do it? Now see why results aren't typical?

We have them trying to sneak into the gym sometimes and pester our clients, and they are sneaky, they’ll act like normal exercisers will even sign up for a contract and take classes and hang around the gym for a month or more, depends on how quick they get caught, to spot the prefect victim.
