Does anyone have a kickboxing tape which was done by aron Lankford some time ago? I have all of cathe's kickboxing tapes and am looking for a new tape. I have Janis saffell hardcore kicbox circuit and Powerstrike 1 and 2. Also, does anyone have any opinions on powerstrike 3 -- I heard it wasn't as good as the first 2 -- I also didn't find janis safell's tape as intense as I would have liked it to be. Any opinions on these other tapes would be appreciated. :)

Hey, Barb,
I have Aaron's old tape. I pulled it out a few months ago and remember thinking it was a bit dated. However, if stuff like silly outfits and not-so-complex combos don't bother you, it still delivers a decent workout. I definitely decided to keep it after doing it for the first time in ages. I think you can modify the intensity up more easily than with more choreographed routines like Janis'. Don't know about Powerstrike 3, but Becky Chamberlain's "Kicked Up Step" is pretty good (weirdest outfit of all, however.)Good luck.

I don't particularly like Powerstrike Millineum 3 - it doesn't keep my heart rate up at all and is much easier than the other two. I love kickbox and found that I do like the TaeBo Advanced Live series but none of the new ones seem to do anything for me. I have been wanting to try some new kickbox workouts also. I had Jannis Saffell's but I find hers a bit too dancy for me.

I have Aaron Lankford's tape. I remember it as being the first "real" kickboxing tape I got, and my favorite for a long time. Great form tips. No choreography (which I don't want in my kickboxing). As intense as you want it to be. As someone else mentioned, it IS rather dated. And the bright red "diaper pants" on the two background exercisers are infamously funny!

As for Powerstrike 3: It is not as immediately intense as 1 and 2, and has more of a build-up to intensity than those two. But I like it for that very reason. I can really focus on form and intensity (I also use weighted gloves, but have worked up to that). Unfortunately, 3 is the only one on DVD.

Even more intense, IMO, are earlier Powerstrike workouts. About a dozen in all, from different "series." They are difficult if not impossible to find nowdays, and the camera work and sound often leave much to be desired (their first video was almost nauteating to watch: so many quick camera changes, like someone's 12 year old brother got a video camera for his birthday and wanted to try it out), but the workouts are excellent! Illaria is a black belt in at least one discipline, and she brings authenticity to the workout. The rapport between Illaria and Patricia is very good also. A few people have a hard time understanding Illaria because of her thick Italian accent, but I like it (and I have a good ear for accents).
