=.==.=Kettlebelling on Mon, July 6=.==.=

Today's workout is from New Jersey Crossfit.

10 rounds of:

5 burpee pull-ups (it's actually just burpees, but I want to pull-up, too)
10 snatches, 5r/5l
15 mountain climbers
20 swings

Not a whole lot of exercises, but it looked fun to me. My legs are pretty sore from yesterday, especially the area just under my pelvis - not quite my glutes... do you know which muscle I mean?

How was everyone's 4th? It was quiet around here so I am hoping that everyone was busy having a good time... but not too good. ;) I had some beer while we were canoeing, but that's because the people I was with made me. I kept taking off because I wanted to race, so they forced me to relax by drinking beer - and it was, I am not joking, my very first beer ever. EVER. Now, I have tried it several times and I just don't like beer... but it is very good with sweet potato chips. :p When we got back DH's brother came over and we hung out with the neighbors in the 60 degree rain. It was miserable, but we still had a blast. The guys in the neighborhood were setting off fireworks in the rain, and I am pretty sure that what they were really doing was having contests to see whose was bigger - er, I mean better. Boys are silly.

What did you guys do? :)

Melissa

Good Morning!

Melissa:::: you are too funny!!! It sounds like your 4th was fun! I am not a fan of beer either. My drink of choice is Kahlua and cream- yumm!! We went to our community picnic on the 4th (there were water games and slides, a magician, a dunk tank and lots of food - if you aren't a vegetarian;)) it was fun, even though DH was working. Your workout today looks good! I love any workout with snatches, they are my favorite kb exercise!

Here is the workout I did today:
Resolution I
barbell press: 50#
kettlebell swings: 45#kb
10 sets completed
moved 16 ,000 pounds today!:) cool!

NOTES:
warm up: tgu 5r/5l - 25#kb
1 minute rest between sets
workout completed in 23minutes:eek:
*next time use 55# barbell????

great workout: just 2 exercises, but felt it all over

Today is my oldest's 13th birthday!!!!! WHOO HOO!! :D:):DSince we went to the ball game as his present, and his bar mitzvah is in October, we are celebrating on a small scale today. he got some baseball cards from us, and we will all go out to dinner at the restaurant of his choice. Lucky for me, we like the same Italian place, so I'm thinking he will pick that! which means I get to have eggplant parm!!:)

I hope everyone had a great weekend and you all have a great day today!!

Hi Everyone!

Today is a rest day for me.

Deanie ~ I loved your workout today. Yes, I think you should go up to 55# for the barbell presses. You can handle it. Happy Birthday to your DS. Enjoy the celebration and the eggplant parm!!!

Melissa ~ I like your workout too! Believe me, you will want less exercises when you do 10 rounds of something. Have fun!!

The 4th was a bit low key this year. I did a 5K race in the morning, then went to my parent's for food and then went swimming. I used to drink lots of beer but I only had a 1/2 a bottle on the 4th. I was concentrating more on the food! :p We made S'mores cupcakes and French Silk Pie. I couldn't decide which I wanted so I had 1 of each, then I had another cupcake later.

Waves hello to everyone else.

eggplant parm = *drool*

Deanie - Happy Birthday to DS!!!! Two exercises can really kick butt! How many reps do you do per round? I hope you actually found some vegetarian friendly food to eat.

Melissa - I like your workout today. Sounds like you had a very fun weekend in spite of the rain...boys and their fireworks! :p We finally had a dry day here yesterday.

Jane - I think you're superwoman to be able to run 5k then swim 100 laps...you do realize that puts you 2/3 of the way to a triathlon. ;)

I'm definitely a beer girl...actually DH says I'm a "micro-brew beer snob". :p

We went to cookout with DH's family yesterday that was pretty fun. I definitely overindulged on desert (strawberry rhubarb pie) *more drool* but I'll make up for it today...not sure what I'm going to do, but I'll make up for it.

Have a good day everyone!

hey Gayle: this is the workout I did:
http://www.artofstrength.com/Videos.../AOSXResolutionTrailer/tabid/507/Default.aspx

but I did the presses like this:
http://www.artofstrength.com/MinuteofStrengthENews/MinuteofStrength101/tabid/651/Default.aspx#res
(see the video for resolution I)

according to the first video, I think next time I will stay with my weights and do the clean and press. I was confused with which way to do them!!:confused:
can't wait to see what you come up with for today!

Jane: Enjoy your rest day! You've earned it:)

waves to everyone else!!

Hey everyone. I wrestled with my grill this weekend and have the scratches to prove it. I stained the table and so I had to put the egg back in. Unfortunately, it is heavy and cumbersome. I got it done though.

This weekend I thoroughly enjoyed the ribs and burgers that I cooked. As far as beer goes, I like winter beers, the dark kinda sweet and high alcohol ones. My favorite beer is called the Beast. One of those will have me in a corner humming to myself and smiling at nothing in particular.

Today I did Providence ( no slingshots because I felt like I was going to drop it on me) and a segment of Classical Stretch. I also did round 1 of Newport with no weights. Plan to go to KM class this evening to burn off the sins of the weekend.

Melissa- Nice workout this morning. Your first beer? You are no longer a virgin.

Deanie- Happy B'day to DS. I love Kahlua and cream. Have you tried the new Hazelnut and French Vanilla flavors? They are yummy. I thought of you as I was doing swings. I made myself use the 16kg for the two handed swings. I thought if Deanie can swing a 24kg, I can't wimp out and go light. Way to go on moving 16,000 pounds. So are you a vegetarian?

Jane- Enjoy your rest day because I am sure that the Superwoman suit needs to go to the dry cleaners. I am glad you got to satisfy your sweet tooth this weekend. I would much rather spend calories on food than on liquids.

Gayle- I am a beer snob as well. Some of my neighbors drink this pale liquid that they refer to as beer but it tastes like a whole lotta nothing. They are like well it only has 64 calories. That many huh?!? I'd rather have a glass of water. Have fun burning off the pie.

Waves to the rest of the crew.

Hey, I'm back! The w/o was awesome!!! I LOVED it, and will do it again for sure. :) I got it done in 28 minutes, probably would have finished in 26 if my sister hadn't of called in the middle of it.

Deanie, are you a vegetarian? Way to go on lifting 16,000# - I would be bragging about that all the way to... wherever I would be going. That is reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllly impressive darlin'!!! I am sorry that DH missed the daytime stuff with the kids, but happy that you guys had a great time. I know a few other people who had to work on the 4th, too, when years past everyone got off. Thank you, ecomony. And happy birthday to DS!!! Today is also my DH's birthday; we are also planning to eat out, except it is steak for us. We will probably go to Texas Roadhouse... I hope that they give free cake to the birthday boy. :p

Gayle, what's your favorite beer? DH likes dark stuff like Killians, and other things I can't remember. I like that one that you drink with oranges... is it Moon something? Blue Moon? I just can't get over the aftertaste of most beers. I like wine... a like it a whole lot! ;) I know this may be wrong, but I am just so happy that we all eat not-so-good-for-you stuff. It is so nice to be in a check-in where people love every part of life and aren't consumed with guilt over nibbling a cookie. We sorta rock!!!

Jane, s'mores cupcakes sound soooooooooo good!!!! Anything s'mores is divine, though. Enjoy your rest day! :)

Rhonda, I think I drank this pale liquid you so despise. It may be referred to as baby beer. :p

Hello Marcy and Laura!!! :)

Now I am heading to the shower before I have to drive 2 boys home, go buy some stuff for vacation and a gift for DH before we have to meet him at the restaurant at 7:30. I don't know what to get DH, though. He always gets things as soon as he wants them so there really isn't anything he wants at the moment. I thought about buying those strips that help you quit snoring, but I don't think he'd like them the way that I would.

Enjoy your evenings,

Melissa

Thanks for the links, Deanie!

Rhonda - DH drinks a "beer" like substance called Coors Light and we somehow managed to remain married. :p At our wedding we had separate kegs...his for Coors and mine for something good. Who makes the "Beast"?

Melissa - Boy, it's had to pick a favorite, but if I had to go for just one it would be Guiness. Generally, I drink whatever good local seasonal brew I can get. This weekend was Otter Summer, that's a citrusy one that you add a lemon to, kinda like Blue Moon. BTW, I agree that we rock! ;)

Melissa- I am glad that we seem to enjoy food also. I want to look good but I also enjoy food so I try to strike a balance between both. As long as my thighs don't start a friction fire when I walk, I'm good. Happy B'day to your DH and hope you and DH have an enjoyable evening.

Gayle- This is who makes The Beast. Got a chance to go to the brewery last fall. Lets just say that altitude, alcohol, and asthma don't mix. I enjoyed all the different samples though :).
