Good Morning!

just starting us off today.....
Day 2 of no workout for me:mad::(:mad::(....my back is feeling better, so I am hoping tomorrow I can jump back on the wagon!;)

Gayle/Jane::: I liked your list of best books of 2009, I read many on the lists and picked up a few to read next year!

Hopefully the UPS man will show up today with my barbell. :D I might get a short workout in, or I might just re-arrange the gym.

Tomorrow I'm planning to do my annual "Day of Many Swings". I did this last Christmas Eve. Basically, I host Christmas Eve dinner for my in-laws every year, which means I spend most of the day cooking and cleaning. So last year I incorporated KB swings into the schedule - dust the coffee table, do 50 swings, peel the potatoes, do 50 swings, wrap presents, do 50 swings...you get the idea. Last year I ended up with over 600 swings, so it was a pretty decent workout, and I didn't feel like I should be doing something else the whole time.

Good Morning!

Well, I did STS Legs last night. I really liked the workout. It went by fast and the moves were different every time. I'm waiting for the DOMS to kick in later today.

Tonight I will be doing an upper body kb workout (swings, crush curls, push presses, rows and push ups) 5 rounds of 10 reps. Then I will go inside and do the Shock Cardio 40/20 HIIT workout. I got my workouts yesterday but only previewed the HIIT workouts. I like the fact that they are 30 minutes so I can tack them on to other workouts.

Deanie ~ Glad your back is feeling better. I'm hoping you can workout tomorrow!

I looked at the 2009 reading list and added more books to my Amazon wish list. I think I have over 100 books on that list. If you don't know about it, there is a good website called Good Reads www.goodreads.com. It like Facebook but for readers. I like it because I can keep track of all the books I read. My family are big readers and I have problems remembering what I read sometimes. It's a nice site.

Gayle ~ I hope you get your barbell today! I love your "Day of Many Swings". I may incorporate that tomorrow afternoon and evening as I will be at my parent's at night and won't have time for a workout. I'm still hoping to get up early and get a run in on Christmas morning. I want to run downtown with the Christmas lights. I'm trying to get my sister to go with but she doesn't want to get up early. I don't want to run alone that early.

Marcy ~ Did you get Shock Cardio yesterday? Have you done a workout yet?

Good Morning!

I did the original Pure Barre this morning. Used 8# for bis, shoulders, back and 8s and 5s for chest and tris. My legs were shaking on the part of the standing portion. I think this is the only workout where my legs shake as much as this.

Rhonda - It was great to finally see you. What a great pic of you and your Little Sis!

Jane - No shock cardio yet but I checked my tracking # and it was supposedly the next town over at 5 a.m. this morning so I should be getting it today. Can't wait to hear how you like 40/20!

Gayle - I love your "Day of Many Swings"! Great way to get everything done. Reminds of a workout I saw on Dr. Oz where they did lunges while vacuuming. I hope you get your barbell today.

Deanie - Sorry you have to have another day off but hopefully you'll be in tip-top shape again tomorrow.

Jane, when I read about your sister, what you posted is exactly the first thing I thought of. I think the most hurt are best at putting up the cold, uncaring fronts. My mom fits that profile perfectly, and it is so sad because of the hurt that it causes and because she won't heal properly. :( ((((HUGS))))

Gayle, it took me 2 hours to read that book! And then I flipped back through it when I was done to read my best parts again. Elizabeth is so awesome - but it was frustrating to see it take Juliet so long to figure out what to write about! :p
I LOVE the idea of swinging the day away! We will be really busy at MIL's house tomorrow so I can't do it, but I will remember that for later. And thanks for the links! I will look into it - at first glance it does seem like all of Pavel's books rolled into one.


Deanie, I am happy that your back is feeling better. The first time I hurt my back like that, it took a full week to recover. Now it takes only a day or two because I have learned how to take care of it and to STOP as soon as I feel it. Now it really only gives me trouble with I don't work out.

Rhonda, love the ice skating pictures!!! We are going ice skating with the kids while we are on break. DH has now until Jan. 4th off!!! I'm so excited!!! :D:D:eek::eek::D:D

Marcy, I have heard really good things about Barre re: legs on VF. It takes a lot to get my legs burning, and if I can find something that does make my legs shake my upper body/whatever is holding the weights usually goes out first. *sigh If my thighs are going to be big, at least they are strong!

Here's the workout:
3 Rounds:
500 meter run
40 squats
30 push ups
20 sit ups
10 pull ups
time: 32:33


I am not super happy with my time, but I did take something like 12 days off so I'm not surprised. The squats after running killed me - my heart rate was sky rocketing so I had to stop a few times. I used my vest for squats, push ups and sit ups. My knees hurt while I was running for some reason... my form was probably really bad after the first round because I was in "almost puke" mode. Great workout. :)

Today is a day of surprises for me - it's my b-day, and it's a big one so DH and the kids are out planning something. He gave me the morning to do laundry and clean the kitchen... just kidding! He wouldn't do that, he left me to my workout and to relax and get ready for... whatever he is planning. Last year is was a carriage ride and dinner at a nice restaurant (and 2 bottles of wine! :eek:). I have a feeling that this year he is taking the kids and I to Laser Tag. I told him that I'm feeling pretty old this morning, and I want to feel like a kid again... oh crap, I hope he isn't taking us to Chucky Cheese!!! :eek::eek::eek:

I am glad you guys liked the pic. I decided to finally come out of the internet closet:p. Has anyone read Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I really enjoyed it.

I don't know what I am doing today (wait that is the story of my life). I must have been under a rock about the Shock Cardio dvd's. I didn't realize there were going to be so many. I was absolutely giddy when I opened the box.
