kettlebell way vs. providence

OK YES another kettlebell thread.. but I have a question.

well I decided since Amy B is going to come out with two kettlebell workouts I'm going to get into it anyway. I definetly will want to try hers out. So I'm thinking of getting either the kettlebell way or providence.
I cannot find video clips of the kettlebell way online? is there any? Is it the same quality or better than providence? is it the same as difficult/challenging? same kind of music/feel to it as providence?
If someone has tried both which do you prefer?
I was at first thinking I wouldn't want to workout watching a guy since I'm used to Cathe/Amy B(and since he would use a totally different weight). but after watching the clips I kinda like it and the music etc.. and I'm sure I can figure out which weight to use.
Just curious which I should choose? help me decide please! thanks!
I'm going to target today to get a kettlebell and one of the dvds they have to try it out before ordering online. Just to make sure this is something I'll enjoy and to have something to practice with till I recieve the DVD I order online.
thanks!

KW and Providence are pretty much the same workout.
The differences:
KW is filmed indoors. It's co-lead by Anthony and Beth Chamberlin (some soap-opera star). Providence is filmed outdoors, with only Anthony as lead.

KW includes a tutorial section where Anthony teaches the moves while Beth demonstrates.

Aside from that, the only minor difference is that one move (a squat-catch) is done with a toss and flip of the kettlebell in Providence, and with a no-toss/flip catch in KW.

The music is the same, the moves (except for that one slight modification) are identical.

lol Gayle!

Thanks Kathryn!

If anyone prefers one over the other let me know. I'm still thinking... hmmmm. One bonus is the KW is one sale now cheaper.

Hi Jess,

I don't have the Kettlebell Way but I do have Providence. I would suggest that you go with KW instead of Providence. KW has a tutorial and if you aren't familiar with kettlebells that would be a better place to start.

I ended up ordering The KB Way as my first KB workout instead of the regular AOS Providence, and I really appreciated the tutorial section. Plus, as you pointed out, Jess, it's $10 cheaper! :) Like Jane, I'd say to go with The KB Way.

If you buy a Go Fit KB (I got mine at Target), it also comes with a short tutorial DVD that has some good form pointers, too.

HTH! :)

Thanks guys. Well I AM going to get one of the kettlebell dvds at target today to learn the basics.. will I still need the tutorial on KW? Well I guess I'm leaning that way already... thanks for the tips ;)

Hey Jess,

If you get one of the Iron Core DVD's at Target, then I'd say not to get The KB Way. Instead, opt for a more advanced workout, like AOS Newport (which I ordered on Amazon since it's free shipping and no sales tax) or Keith Weber's Extreme Cardio (http://www.dragondoor.com/dv052.html).

Yes, Anthony is dreamy! ;-)

Oh so providence isn't so advanced? I figured it was. from the video clips it looks like a good workout.. hmm. I do love amazon and their free ship! ;) thanks Leanne. I'm more confused now haha. no j/k I appreciate all the tips!

I would definitely get the Kettlebell Way - it has an excellent tutorial and Anthony breaks down the moves like no one else. The Kettlebell Way or Providence are not beginner workouts and can still get me completely winded after months of using bells, simply by going heavier. It is one of the most fundementally sound kettlebell workout out there. I think Keith Webber's workout goes too fast and I rarely reach for it except for the abs section.

just adding. does it seem silly that I like the scenery in providence better. the basic room in KW kinda bugs me. lol. I'm still thinking...

I know what you mean, but I think once you're working an sweating, you might not care that much about the scenery!
