Kettlebell starting point

I bought a 10 lb kettlebell and need a match for my new dvd by Phil Ross. If these things weren't so darn expensive it would be no problem but should I start with a heavier weight.

Could I use 2 (10s) and maybe another heavier and how heavy do you think?

I am just a KB starter too - I did my first KB workout last weds and am so hooked that I have done it every other day since.... :)

You couldnt really use 2 - KB's at a time - it is really just one at a time. I started with a 15 which is working great - but I use a 20lb for certain exercises - like the one arm pulls.

I did see that Walmat has kettlebells for pretty inexpensive considering the prices I have seen at Target. It was $23 for a 15lb and $30 for a 20lb. Target was $45 and $54 respectfully for the same sizes.

There are exercises for using 2 KBs at a time, but if the dvd shows just one, that is what you should use.

I've looked at the Walmart KB's, and I think it's a case of "you get what you pay for." They looked rather cheaply made (lumpy and rough handles, coating that was already starting to flake off).

As to the original question, the Phil Ross DVD might not be the best starting place. Moves done with 2 kbs are more challenging that with 1, and IMO, it's best to learn the moves first before moving to 2 KB versions.

Most workouts use only one Kettlebell (though I find that I end up using different weights, because 1 size KB doesn't work best for me).
