~~~~~~~Kettlebell~~~~Monday Checkin~~~
good morning to you!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Big fonts make me happy. :)
I am happy to hear that everyone is doing pretty well, and am jealous that one of us gets discounts for vacay. :p
I am getting ready to do "Cindy"; 5 pull ups, 10 pushups and 15 squats, AMRAP in 20 minutes. I will report back shortly to let y'all know how poorly I did - I still feel like I am getting back in shape even though I know that just a month ago I felt super strong. Remind me to never take a long vacation like that again! :confused:
I hope everyone had a fabuloso weekend and that your weeks are off to a wonderful start! :) :) :) Hugs and smiles to all!
Melissa
Good Morning Everyone!! (making Melissa happy with the big font this morning) :):):):)
I'm taking a rest day today. :):):):)
Melissa ~ Have fun with Cindy today!! I know you will do well!! Don't think about the past just focus on today.
Rhonda ~ Thanks for the recipe! That drink sounds so good!
Waves hello to the rest of the crew.
BBL!!
Jane, thank you for the encouragement! Enjoy your rest day, you certainly deserve it! :)
I actually didn't do as bad as I thought I would: I got 11 rounds plus 5 chin-ups and 4 push-ups, and I did every single push-up on my toes. I didn't do air squats as was prescribed, I did old fashioned ones with a 15 kb in each hand b/c DD and I are doing a run this evening so I wanted to focus on strength (even though it ended up being a killer sweatefest despite the 60 degrees). Here are the totals:
60 pull/chin-ups (I did at least 2 each round before doing jumping/negatives)
114 push-ups
165 squats
:)
Melissa
Good Morning!!:):):)
Rhonda::: Thanks for starting us off :) sounds like you had a great time in Jamaica, mon ;) and I like the dirty banana!!
Melissa::: Great workout!!! I have Cindy on tap for one of these days, looks fun! (I was thinking of subbing OHS w/ a dowel, for the air squats!) Big fonts are fun!!:)
Jane::: Enjoy your rest day!
Today was Resolution I for me. I really surprised myself and did all 10 rounds in under 30 minutes!!! I didn't sleep so well last night, and wasn't sure I had the umph! today. I ended up with a really good workout. My butt and forearms are still feeling it.........on a side note, I got a great dvd this weekend called Corrections. I found it on Dragon Door, its by an RKC instructor. He assumes you already have been practicing the swings, tgu and other moves, he is just helping with correct some form issues. Great info in the dvd, I applied some to my swings and it really made a difference and tomorrow I will be applying his info to my snatch practice.
Also, since I'm rambling, I was happy to see the MOS this week about SIM, but still confused onthe correct way of using SIM. So I will continue to use as I have been: Keeping the weight for the press/snatch exercises the same, increaseing first the weights for the other exercises and then decreasing the rests...may ask on the AOS forum about this, SIM is still confusing. ETK the goals were layed out for you, so it made it easier. By the end of ETK you should be pressing 1/4 of your body weight (women) and snatching the 25#kb for 10 min. (again for women, men's goals are different).....
Gayle::: I am buying Pavel's Power to the People this week, to read up on his deadlift program. If you (or anyone) is interested, I can relay the info to you on the forum.:)
and finally:rolleyes:, my workout (posted from my blog):
Resolution I
warm up:
tgu with snatch inbetween
5l/5r
20# kb
Resolution I:
bb press: 55#
swings: 24kg kettlebell (53#)
set gymboss for 30 minutes:
10 rounds competed!!:):) ( last time only got to 8 rounds in 30 minutes)
advanced level!! (happy dance -!! )
1-2 minute rests betweeen sets (2.5 rest between sets 9 and 10!)
2:26 left on the gymboss--> so completed workout in 27:30 minutes!!
18,650# moved!!!:eek::eek:
NOTES:
*swings were hard today!! -->forearms and arms feeling it!!
**used tips from new dvd corrections for swing
Waves to everyone!!!
Have a great workout and Monday!!
Hi everyone!
Jane - Enjoy your rest. Sounds like you had a great run yesterday! :)
Deanie - Great job on Resolution! Do you get the Dragon Door catalogs? We get them and they have some really intriguing stuff in there.
Melissa - Way to kick some Cindy butt! :) ^^^5's
Rhonda - Jamiaca sounded like a lot of fun! According to Anthony Bourdain in Kitchen Confidential, your take on all-inclusive food is correct. ;)
Hello to Tammy, Marcy, Laura and Andilynn!
I'm not sure what I'm doing tonight, but it will be outside! We have a rare non-rain day today. :)
I'm so glad Cathe is coming to Atlanta on her tour! I'm planning on going. Is she coming to a city near any of you?
Melissa - Great workout! Yes, I do have a DH but unfortunately he doesn't come dancing with me. He doesn't work out anymore and doesn't eat well although I try and push good food on him when I can. He used to box, run cross-country and lift weights. He did give me good pointers on my punches though when he watched me doing kickboxing.
Jane - I noticed you did a couple of Insanity workouts. Looks like you like them! I hope you're enjoying your rest day!
Farmer - Love the dirty banana! Are you back to school now?
Deanie - Great job on Resolution! Watched most of the MOS video. It sounded like he was mainly pressing the point about the rests. That you should be using enough weight so that you'll need the rests. Snatching for 10 minutes? I have a long way to go! I'd be interested to hear about the deadlift program.
Waves to Tammy, Gayle, Laura and Andilynn!
Melissa ~ WTG on "Cindy"!!! I knew you could do it!!!
Deanie ~ Thanks for the info on the "Correction" dvd. I will check it out. I'm teaching one of my sisters how to do the swing and she's doing something funky with her back. I keep trying to helping her but it's not working.
Marcy ~ I could drive to Atlanta or Daytona to see Cathe. Does she have the dates set yet?
I did Low Max premix 4-7 and I went to KM class this morning. Glad you guys liked the Dirty Banana recipe.
Melissa- Way to go. Keep looking at your avatar for motivation. Vacations are great. You will be back in the swing of it in no time.
Jane- You deserve a rest day. I am interested to see if you really rest today. You will probably post tomorrow that you rested by doing 50 laps in 5 minutes:p.
Deanie- Yes. Please relay the power to the people. Great job on Resolution this morning.
Gayle- I heart Anthony Bourdain but I haven't read Kitchen Confidential. I will put this on my list of reads. Gourmet Magazine has this event in October, http://www.gourmetinstitute.com and he is going to be there. I want to do this for my 40th b'day but it is two years away. Hopefully he will do it again in 2011. Have a fun workout this evening.
Marcy- Good workouts as usual! 101%. Did you feel like you were going to pass out? I go back to work 2 weeks from today. Although I am very grateful to have a job, I really enjoy the time off. Does Cathe have the schedule of locations posted?
Waves to everyone.
Jane - I didn't see any dates yet.
Rhonda - Actually, I didn't feel like I was going to pass out but I definitely had to slow down after that.
From Cathe's e-mail:
Cathe Eggland’s Best National Tour Cities Announced
At the just completed Cathe 2009 road trip we announced the first cities for the Cathe Eggland’s Best National Tour. We are in the process of booking conference centers and banquet rooms for each event across the USA. The cities we have announced so far are:
1. Daytona Beach, FL
2. San Diego, CA
3. Chicago
4. Texas ( we’re looking at Austin, Dallas or San Antonio)
5. NYC
6. Atlanta, Ga
In addition to these top 6 choices we’re also looking at Seattle, Minneapolis, Denver, Phoenix, Baltimore and Boston. Currently only Daytona and San Diego have been booked, but we hope to have all the other sites reserved by the end of this month. It may be necessary in some cases to change a location if we’re unable to book the space we need, but we think we will be able to find space in all of our top city choices. If you have a location you would like to see us come to please let us know in our forums.
Marcy
Marcy- Thanks! If I don't have class when she comes to town, I'm there! I seriously want a picture of Cathe and I to hang in my exercise room.
Marcy, Chicago is close enough but I don't think I'll go. We are going to be busy with 3 different kids in 3 different sports so our weekends will be jam packed. Okay, now I have to ask: was your DH way more into fitness before you got married, and then the desire to do so magically stopped??? DH used to work out, run, lift mega weights... and then we got married. I asked him at the beginning of summer why he didn't want to do anything anymore and he told me that if he did start working out I should worry... :rolleyes:
Way to sprint!!!
Gayle, I hope that you are able to revel in your non-rain bliss!
Rhonda, ... Lowmax... There's one I haven't done in a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time!!! I sure do love those blasts. I will have to tack that on to an SIM workout. Thanks for the reminder!
Now that I am done snacking on the sweetest strawberries I have ever tasted and blueberries, I must rest before our run and dinner and evening crazies get started. :)
I didn't know DH when he was really fit:(. When we met, he was still in pretty good shape (still has huge arms though - 18"). Our kids (from other marriages) were real young and I guess just raising a family left very little time for working out. We did use to bike ride a little but alas, the bikes are just collecting dust in our shed.:( I tried to mention a few times that we should try it again, but no luck. I'll keep trying though. Good luck with your DH! Is he going to turn into a workout monster if he starts?
Rhonda - I'd also love a pic of Cathe and me for the exercise room!
