Kettlebell Check In Tuesday

Good Morning!

Another chilly morning today. It was in the 20's with a wind chill of 19.

Melissa ~ I'm still just wearing a light jacket. I don't own a coat really. I think the heaviest coat I have is my Cubs quilted jacket but it just doesn't look right with a dress and heels. :) Since I'm just running from the house to the car to the office and back it's not really necessary or worth the $$$ to buy a coat. I do have mittens and gloves but my mittens are in the trunk and I can't find the gloves. It will be in the high 40's today. The cold doesn't last too long down here.

When I was doing the swing challenge last January. The challenge was more of a mental one. It was no problem doing 200 swings but doing that many for 31 days in a row was very challenging.

BTW....I'm sure you are a fantastic wife and mother!!!

Gayle ~ Did you have fun skiing? I went skiing in Wisconsin a long time ago. I went down the hill once (actually it was more falling down the hill) and then spent the rest of the afternoon in the lodge.

Rhonda ~ What workout did you do yesterday?

I didn't get a workout in last night but will try tonight.

Jane - Wow, you're having our temperatures! Keep warm! How long is the cold weather supposed to last down there?

Deanie - Nice workout! I'm in awe of your 16kg TGU. :cool: I tried to do that once and feared the KB would end up on my head. :eek:

Melissa - I bet you rock a lot more than you think. ;):cool:. Great workout yesterday! Nice job on Cindy! I'm not a bad skier, I ski mostly advanced/expert stuff, though I used to be better. I tore my ACL back in 2005 and it's taken longer to get my mojo back than I thought it would. I like to ski moguls and trees. I've gotten back in the groove on moguls, but tree skiing takes more confidence...and I'm still working on that. Fortunately, the guy I ski with is REALLY good, so if I'm going to keep up with him, I'm forced to get better. (sorry for the rambling...:eek:)

I tried out a new pair of ski boots yesterday...and I HATE them! I got them at a closeout and can't return them. :mad::mad: Maybe the eBay gods will smile on me.

Tonight, I'm planning to do some power clean and jerks...maybe 5x5. I'm also going to do something to try and practice double-unders...I'm really bad at those.

Got it done! I ended up not running today just because I woke up feeling like I didn't want to run. :p I love the flexibility with the Program Minimum! Here's what I did do:

5 minutes TGU with 20#, 7 on each side (I evened it out)
Cashed out: AMRAP in 10: 5 clean and jerks (wimpy weight) and 10 push-ups, got 8 rounds in

Gayle, I do another check-in with a woman that skis and I really think it's awesome! I have been one time and I stink really really badly! There aren't any slopes around here, so I guess I have an excuse ;]. I do admire your skills, though! I like to water ski. I used to be really good, but like all things you don't use I am sure I stink at that now, too! It's been yyyeeeeeeaaaaaaaaarrrrrsssss! :)

Jane, Cubs go with EVERYTHING! :D I also fell down hills when I attempted skiing. I bet it looks funny. :p
Our current temp is 10, windchill of -6. And I can't find my gloves either! :eek:

Deanie, sorry about your wrists! Do you have any forearm burning with that heavy of a kb, and do you do exercises for strengthening your grip?
And what did you think of I Capture the Castle?

It's not going to be back to normal until next Tuesday. Our average temperature for this time of year is 63 and the low is usually 40 degrees. I guess I need to find my gloves or take my mittens out of the trunk! ;)

Gayle::: I've never done downhill skiing, but I have done cross country. I don't like the ski lifts so I've never gone downhill, but i think I would like it! Don't know what tree skiing is, but it sounds dangerous!!:eek: Be careful!! sorry about your new ski boots. Have a good workout tonight!

Melissa::: Good job with the TGU's! Don't you just love them!!?? BRRR! I'm cold just hearing about your weather!!! Find your gloves!! I just started I capture the castle. I'm reading it with my book club. So far I am enjoying it! eta:: yes, my forearms burn, and the deadlift really works your grip. so does the prison style workout i did the other day....

Hi Girls!

Sorry I've been MIA for the past week. Here are my workouts since the new year:

Sat: 13 mins. of Dance Body Tone from Dancing with the Stars - I liked what I did. Started out with Rumba and Cha Cha.

Mon: 3 chins; MMA Boxing - liked it but my least favorite out of the three MMAs. Good core work. All upper body punches; no kicks. Did an upper body combo; upper body blitz (slow and fast punches, upper cuts, etc.) and lower body blitz (simple athletic drills).

Power Thighs from Ultimate Advanced Cardio Barre - Doing much better with this one.

Today: Flow Yoga with Jennifer Lynn - not good with my arm balances today. Bad headstand. Did a great big toe balance pose. Good backbends. Have to practice the arm balances on my own. She doesn't give much instruction. Still had a decent practice.

Got two new yoga DVDs coming: Sadie Nardini's Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga Transformation and Shiva Rea's Daily Energy Flow. Sadie's got some great videos on You Tube if you want to check them out.

Jane - It was 18 here this morning and I think we're going to have this cold weather for about a week. I hate it! The heat was out in the office yesterday. I tried typing with my gloves but it didn't work out too well. Everyone had their space heaters on and we were blowing fuses like crazy! My computer was down twice.

Gayle - Hope you had fun skiing!

Deanie - How's your back? How do you like doing ETK again?
