Super productive weekend

Hi cyberbuds.

This weekend I got a lot accomplished. I cleaned on Saturday for about 6 hours. My house wasn't filthy, there were just lots of loose odds and ends. I did detail work and still have a bit to go.

Yesterday I had a training session with Lisa Shaffer. She was super nice and really helped me to correct some issues that I was having. I finally figured out how to snatch. I also learned the proper way to do a windmill and a TGU. My biggest problem was that when I was snatching, my arm was too far out. It should have been closer to my ear. She also told me that when I swing and snatch, I need to have my thumb angled to fly between my legs. Another tip she gave me was to make sure my knuckles were straight up. I had a lot of bend in mine.

Today I am going to work on clearing out the garage. Last year we had a POD shipped to our house from the inlaws house. I need to attempt to figure out what is valuable and what is not. We already had a garage sale and got rid of some things.

Deanie- Great workout this morning. What is that animated thing doing?

Melissa- I know whiplash shouldn't be a laughing matter but.... that was funny. I hope he is feeling better.

Jane- Way to go girl. I knew you would kick butt.

Tammy- Way to go on Newport!

Waves to everyone.

Hi All,

Today is a rest day. I'm feeling sore all over (in a good way). :)

Rhonda ~ That is so cool that you got to train with Lisa Schaffer! I have one of her books and I refer to it often. She's great!!

Deanie ~ WTG on the Bertha Swings!! When does school start? The schools in my area started last week.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Well, this morning I did BBC arms (skipped the abs) and... I am humbled. I am so used to functional exercises that I could barely do 5# for the skull crushers, and after the first set of skull crushers I couldn't even do a single push-up on my toes. That proves it is good to mix things up every once in a while, to work your body in different ways! :p I also did a low weight/high rep leg routine using lunges and squats afterwards. I do have to say that I don't feel like I got a complete workout because I didn't use multi-body part exercises, even though my arms are shaking. I am happy that I took this week off of KBs though. :)

First day of school was today, and I am happy to say it went smoothly. :D

I have to go, but I will be back later.

Melissa

Jane: enjoy your rest day. The first day of school for my boys is August 31st. for me I have in house hours that start Sept. first, but the kids don't come in till sept. 10th (nursery school).

Melissa: wow I can't believe your kids started school already! were they out in June or May? glad you enjoyed your bbc workout. my brother and I were just discussing how for body building muscle confusion is good, but for strength training you should stick to a program for an extended period of time. I am trying to decide if I should stick to sim/resolution for a while longer or do the deadlift program. my brother and i decided I should stick with sim/resol. since I am enjoying it and at about 1/2 way thru the year switch for a while to the deadlift program. Hard, since I am liking sim/reso., but also am excited to try a dl program.....at least deadlifting is in resolution....

now i am rambling....both boys are preoccupied with friends and i have nothing to do!!! off to find something constructive to do!!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Over the weekend, I did a couple of pullups and 5 chinups and did a few straight leg levitation holds.

Today was Tone It Up. I increased my weights on some things again. I feel like my body is adapting to these workouts and I need to keep increasing the weights.

Lower body: dip, squat, squat + leg lift, front kick + back kick (no weights)

Step touch + pull-backs, squat + row, alternating reverse fly, reverse fly, upright row, squat + hammer curl - all 7# except for bentover rows and alternating reverse fly which I used 8# (up 1#).

Plie squat + chest crossover, plie squat + chest pullup, plie squat + standing chest fly, squat + tricep kickback - all 5#

Dip + front raise, lunge + bicep curl, static lunge + side raise, shoulder combo: front-side-rear raise, rotator cuff, squat + W-press, squat - All 5# except for bicep curls and rear delt raise which were 7# (up 2#).

Chest fly, chest press, tricep press, bridgework + tricep lying overhead ext, bridgework - 8# but used 8s and 10s on chest flies and presses. Went up 2# on chestwork.

Inner thigh floor work, outer thigh floor work and, pushups - used 3# ankle weights

Weighted abs - used 8# (reverse crunches, weighted crunches).
Used 5# for rollups and rowing motion.

Deanie - Enjoy your last few weeks of vacation! Our school district started back today. I think they finished in the middle of May. I think it's great you're able to stick with your rotations for so long.

Tami - Congratulations on your promotion and good job with Newport!

Melissa - I love skull crushers! I have a couple of Barry's Bootcamp but still have yet to try them. The cardio looked a little scary at the time! Even though Slim Series is high rep/low weight, many of the exercises are multi-bodypart. Glad to hear the first day of school went smoothly.

Jane - Glad to hear you're enjoying Insanity. I'm planning on watching them on Saturday.

Rhonda - Thanks for the training tips! Sounds like your training session really helped you.

Waves to all!

Marcy
