Kegels

Does anyone know if the devices used for Kegals are any good? If so, which one?The standard Kegals don't seem to be doing their job. I asked my OB/GYN but to no avail. Thanks

Wow Jackie, I had no idea that there were devices. I 'googled' it and it took me a half a dozen sites to get a visual.
Obviously I can't comment on them but I swear by kegeling at traffic lights,...elevator up, elevator down and squeeze 2-3-4.... Constant bracing when weight lifting helps too especially with squats. I advise women to think of being in cold water to their upper thighs, the contraction is almost reflexive. Just be sure the contraction originates in the pelvic floor not through the belly, thighs or buttocks.
My SIL started doing pilates and after 6 weeks of regular practise she was pleasantly surprised to notice she could laugh hardily, sneeze and cough without leakage. The tighter pubococcygeal muscles also translated very nicely in other ways;-)
I've probably just told you what you already know and look forward to hearing from women who have used these devices...Good luck to you. Now I'm off to look at more of those very curious looking devices.

Thanks for the response. I think I am doing them correctly, but I am not sure. I had hoped my Gyno would help but he didn't. I have noticed that doing the rebounder has helped although I don't know why.

The key word you said here is HE!! Not that there aren't good male gynos out there, there are, just so hard to find one though!!

The rebounder helps because you have to brace your core and pelvic floor throughout your workouts to minimize the momentum of boucing and keep your body upright. Just one more reason that I have to seriously look into getting one, they look like a lot of fun!

The rebounder is alot more fun than I thought it would be. I was amazed that my heart really gets up there!
