Waaaah! I just bought the Gliders at WalMart. I was in such a hurry to get back home that I didn't notice on the box that it said "Not for hard floors"! I workout on hardwood. Is it possible to put something down and use them? I COULD try it in my carpeted TV room but not a lot of room to move in there. Talk about an impulse buy. Thanks for any ideas.

I use them on top of puzzle mats, and that works well (except for a yoga/pilates pro workout that uses a lot of upper body moves: the discs had a bit too much resistance for that). In fact, there's more resistance than on a carpet, and I think I get a better glute/hamstring/inner-/outer thigh workout.

You could also try doing the gliding workouts on your wood floor using microfiber cleaning clothes (and get two things done at once!)

The instruction in the kit suggests putting down an area rug if you have hardwood floors (you can get a 6 x 8 or so area rug at walmart or at Home Depot for around 19.95 sometimes.

You can (or at least could) get the hardwood floor version from www.glidingpro.com , but you have to lie when you checkout and say that you are a fitness pro (but aren't we, in a way?;-) ) I have them: they're basically the regular discs with a dense cotton cover on. I don't know how long they would last.

I wonder if you could make your own cover for them. They sell stuff at Target/Wal-mart that is adhesive felt that you can cut out to stick on furniture so that it won't scratch your hardwood.
