...how do you organize your workout DVD's? Do you organize them according to series or type of workout? I've been gradually adding to my Cathe collection and I'm trying to figure out how to easily spot the workout I want to use. I'm leaning towards organizing them according to type. I know, it's probably a dopey question, but humor me, please:+

Oh, people organize their workout DVDs?

Seriously, I'm just thrilled they're all on the same shelf at my house.

I have seen some people who have theirs organized beautifully! I used to do that... until my stash of DVDs exceeded the space... and now I just have them haphazardly near the player. :(

I used to organize them by series... and sometimes by color... but not ever by type! I'll have to think about that one... :p

I try to sort them in types of workouts.

I do mine alphabetically by the first name of the instructor (CAthe Freidrich before CHristi Taylor, for example) and then alphabetically within the instructor's workouts (HIgh Step Challenge before LOw Max, for example). Exceptions -- the FIRM are all together and so are Turbo Jam and the TLTs, but the titles are alphabetical within the categories.

I work out first thing in the morning, so before bed I often pull the dvd I'm planning to use the next morning out just a little bit so it stands out. Because it's no good to put in the wrong workout in the morning!

I do mine by personality. Cathe, Tony Horton...

Uh, my Cathe is on top of the Firm tapes because that's who I am doing the most of right now. No real organization, just happy that they are all in the shelf next to DVD player!

Michele,
I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who actually thinks about these things. I organize mine first by personality (Cathe vs Billy Banks vs Firm) then by series. I don't have too many yet so it works so far. I may change it once I get so many that it becomes difficult to find the wo I want.

I realize yesterday how many vhs/dvds, I have. I have collected all the Firms and Fitprimes and on the way to collecting Cathes. Yes, there is a "F" theme at my house. It doesn't stand for failure, but flushing fat forever. :D. Anyway, all the Firms I don't use are packed in a plastic container. All the rest of my vhs/dvds are sorted by how many of the particular person, and shelf space. I have inherited an antique bookshelf from my Nana (grandmother), so some of the vhs, I have to place on the sides to fit. For the most part, they are all grouped together. Alpha order might not be a bad idea though! :D.

Hi Michele:) My workouts are organized by instructor. Cathe is (literally and figuratively) top shelf and organized by series. My other DVDs are kept together by type (BodyPump, TLT, Carribean...) I still keep my Cathe VHS on the lower shelves and sometimes mish mosh them in with DVD workouts. Some of my non-Cathe VHS haven't seen the light of day in a loooong time. I don't want to give a false impression of being uber organized (t'ain't so:+ ) About once a week I'll tidy things up, that's when I start thinking, 'oh, maybe I should do this workout next week'.

Take Care
Laurie:)

By instructor, then by series. I tried doing it by type, but with Cathe's tapes, it just looks so much nicer on the shelf to have all the series together. :D

I do exactly what LittleAngel does -- alphabetically and then alphabetically for each title for each instructor. I also put in the next day's DVD the night before.

For all of you who organize by type... what do you do with Step Blast and SJP all on the same DVD???

Oh crap:eek: ;( :7

I'm totally with Melody. I'm lucky if I get 'em to all be on the same shelving unit. I need to hire one of those professional organizer people to come to my house, because I just can't get my act together. I am very impressed with you guys!

I'm going to have to report you to the FlyLady. I think this constitutes a major infraction of the FlyLady code of...of...well you know. :p
